Chapter Three: Ab Intra
"From Within"
Y.
"Yuna is that you?" A familiar voice said.
I knew who it was, the long, silky brunette hair, the crystal blue eyes that shone and contrasted with the dark night, the smooth, flawless skin, and the body of a model. Lenne. She walked towards me very slowly, making sure I was the person she thought I was. I decided to blend in with the crowd, trying to hide behind all the moving people. Although it was too late, I wanted to run, but my feet felt as if they were stuck to the ground. I was spotted anyways, nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. I had no choice but to greet her.
"Hi…Lenne." I did a half-hearted smile.
I looked behind me to see everybody in the group, besides Rikku, who was on the phone, most likely talking to Uncle Cid, look at me and Lenne in shock.
"Yuna! It really is you!" Lenne slowly ran over to me and gave me a tiny, but minute-long hug, "I would never expect to see you here."
"Well, I don't get out much. You understand with all the school work, after school activities, valedictorian…" I trailed off on the last word, still keeping that false smile on my face.
"Very true, but what I don't understand is why don't I see you around school anymore. Who do you hang out with Yuna? We somehow drifted apart around Freshman year." Lenne gave me a big smile. I don't understand, how can she not know where I am? Lady Yunalesca is not that huge of a school. I have at least one class with her…where I am all the way at the back because of my first name.
"I'm in your first period AP Calculus class. Sitting all the way at the back…" My smile softened a little, maybe there was no reason for me to dislike Lenne, maybe it was my fault for us two drifting apart.
"Really? I never knew. I'm sorry!" Lenne gave me another hug, but bigger and shorter than the last, "I was a bit too caught up in so much stuff! I mean, having so much activities going on every day means sleeping awfully late, leaving me very tired in the morning, which makes me a very absent minded person!"
"It's okay, it's fine." I gave her a smile, yes, a REAL smile.
"Who do you hang out with? I mean, I don't see you during break, lunch, after school…" Lenne tilted her head.
"Elma, Lucil, and Shelinda, do you know them?" I asked.
Lenne's smile dropped a little, and she sighed, "Oh. I see…Well, I have to go, I hope you'll like your stay here at Zanarkand."
"Okay, bye. See you at school soon." I smiled, Lenne gave me a hug, and I hugged back.
That was something unexpected, very unexpected. Right when I mentioned Elma, Lucil, and Shelinda, she got quiet. Is there something wrong? I am honestly very confused right now. All I want to do is scream my heart out.
After Lenne was clear out of sight, Rikku jumped on my shoulders.
"Who was that?" Rikku then started skipping around, as usual, "Some chick from your school?"
"Yes, pretty much." I replied.
"Okay. Well anyways, we gotta head home, Pops said. He's such a party pooper!" Rikku sighed and turned around to the group, "Well, bye guys!"
Rikku ran to each and everyone of them and gave them a hug, excluding Paine and Gippal.
"Hey Cid's Girl, how come I don't get some love?" Gippal dropped his smirk and gave her a pout.
"Ughh, fine." She hugged him and stomped on his right foot, yet again.
"Ow! Well, at least I got more than them." Gippal smirked, yet again.
"Shut up." Rikku glared at him, "Let's go Yunie!"
"Bye Yuna!" They all said, having me wave back.
"I'll see ya later Yuna." Tidus grinned, "Look through Rikku's contacts in her phone to find my number, we should talk some time soon."
"Yes, I agree." I nodded my head and walked off with Rikku.
We walked through the cold air, and to the parking lot, after staying at the City Walk for only 20 minutes.
"That was a waste of waiting for a parking space." Rikku sighed and unlocked her car doors.
Out of all the sleek, black cars parked in the parking lot, Rikku's was the only neon bright car in the whole section, making it quite easy to find her car. When we buckled our seatbelts, made our way through traffic, and headed home, Rikku changed the song to one that made me feel like I should get out of the car and dance out in the middle of the traffic. I started to sway my body from side to side and dance a little.
"You go Yunie! This is my jam!" When we stopped at a stop light, Rikku and I started dancing and singing to the song, "It's like I waited my whole life, for this one night, it's gonna be me, you and the dance floor!"
Rikku and I then started dancing and singing as loud as we can, rolling the windows down, grabbing almost every car's attention, "And dance for-eh-eh-ever, for-eh-eh-ever, for-eh-eh-ever!"
I guess this is how you live the Zanarkand night life.
….
When we arrived at Rikku's house, she unlocked the door, and once we stepped in, we both started cracking up.
"Rikku? Is that you?" Uncle Cid descended from downstairs, "It sounds like a chimera's dyin' down here! Yuna!"
I stopped laughing and hugged Uncle Cid.
"Hi, Uncle Cid!" I then let go of his tight bear hug, and bursted out laughing again.
"You two didn't go out to a bar, did ya?" Uncle Cid put his hands on his hips and glared at the two of us, rolling on the ground, our faces turning as red as tomatoes.
"No, hahaha…we didn't, ahaha…Pops!" Rikku started cracking up, her eyes practically tearing up from laughing so much, "We just went with Paine and them."
Our laughs started to die down, and we were sprawled out on the floor, trying to catch our breath.
"I don't think…I can laugh like that anymore…" I had a big smile on my face, and I stared up at the white ceiling above me.
"Well, I can laugh like that whenever I want to!" Rikku sighed, "Anyways, Pops, why'd you call us back home. You technically just wasted my gas money!"
Rikku sat up straight from the ground, and fixed her hair.
"Anyways Rikku, I called you two here to tell ya'll somethin' that would surprise the two of ya." Uncle Cid then grinned at us.
"What is it? What is it? What is it?!" Rikku got up from the ground and started hopping up and down in anticipation.
"Well Rikku, Yuna…" Uncle Cid scratched the back of his shiny head, "Maybe I shouldn't tell ya yet…Or maybe I should…Nah, maybe not..."
"Pops! Stop playing around with us! You already ruined mine's and Yunie's fun!" Rikku pouted.
"Well…" Uncle Cid scratched his chin.
"Uncle Cid, please…" I pouted as well.
"Okay, well…Yuna, Rikku, pack your bags, you two are going to go on a trip around Spira for a month. Meaning you will miss school, Christmas with me and Brother, and everything you will leave behind!" Uncle Cid grinned.
"ARE YOU SERIOUS POPS!?" Rikku squealed and jumped on her father.
I was confused at the moment, it's already bad enough that I have to miss my AP classes over winter break. Now, I'm going to be going around Spira, for a month. Will I still have the chance to be valedictorian? Will I even be able to still attend my school? I thought my brain was going to overheat any second with all these questions being thrown at me. What will I do?
...
"Aren't you excited Yunie, it'll be you, me, and the world." Rikku said as we were packing our bags in her huge closet, "This will be such a great experience for me and you."
I was slowly re-packing my stuff into my already half packed luggage. Still contemplating about what will happen if I go on this trip.
"Yunie? Yunie? Oh Yuniiee," Rikku shook my shoulder.
"Huh?" I looked at her with wide-eyes and a confused expression.
"I asked you a question, y'know." Rikku had an amused smile on her face.
"Oh, I'm sorry, what did you ask me?" I smiled.
"Ughh. Next time listen, deaf woman!" Rikku rolled her eyes and threw a small piece of pocket lint at me, "Aren't you excited to go on this trip? I mean, meeting hot guys, seeing new places, skipping school…"
"That's the problem Rikku!" I sighed, "I don't think I can do this, I want to be valedictorian, and it was my dream before all of this! If I skip school, doesn't that mean I lose my chances of becoming what I've dreamed of? I already skipped my AP classes that I was supposed to take starting Monday, and now, I don't think I can afford to skip school for how many weeks? I think I should go home, I can't do this anymore."
"Chill Yunie!" Rikku raised her chipper voice, "Who ever said that your chances will be gone forever? You already have a GPA higher than a 4.0! What more do you need? And isn't that girl that you were talking to earlier running against you for valedictorian? She's not taking AP classes, I mean, who would want to in a place like this! Yunie, you don't know what's gonna happen in the future, you have to live in the moment, everything doesn't go according to plan! C'mon Yunie, you're too young to plan your life out anyways! There's no need for you to go home Yunie, please Yunie, just go on this trip with me, you'll see what I mean. And if you don't change your mind, I'm not stopping you to go home. But please Yunie, please..."
"But Rikku…My life depends on being valedictorian, I don't know…" I sighed and closed my eyes.
"Your life does NOT depend on studying 24/7. It depends on you having the time of your life." Rikku glared at me, her green eyes burning into mine.
"I can't Rikku, this isn't only for me, it's for my mother, my father, my whole family! They are all counting on me." I sighed in frustration.
"No, Yuna, you are so stubborn," she shook her head from side to side, "you're parents want you to do it, you've just been brainwashed into that stupid idea. Yuna, you have to go on this trip. Once you get home, will you ever be able to go out like this again? Most likely not, but Yuna, just go, please. Do this for me. This isn't only for you."
"I don't know…" I responded softly.
"Please Yunie…" Rikku asked in a tiny voice.
What should I do? I must be valedictorian, there's no option on that. But what if Rikku was right, what if I was made like this from my parents. Maybe…
"I'll go." I answered firmly.
"What'd you say?" Rikku then chirped up.
"I said that I'll go." I shrugged.
"Really!?" Rikku squealed and gave me a bear hug.
"Yes. Now let's continue packing up, shall we?" I gave her a small smile.
"Let's do this!" Rikku immediately started packing, folding, and carefully placing her things into the bag.
Maybe Rikku was right, what will happen if I go home? Will I even be allowed to go out of the house anymore? I'll just take my chances on this trip. Not only for me but for Rikku.
...
After half way done with packing, my phone started vibrating in my purse. I swiftly got up and snatched my cell phone from my purse. It read on the screen that it was a text message from Elma.
'how com U arent txtng us anymor? anyways, how is UR trip? Txt us bak ASAP! we have sum important info!
Love,
Elma Lucil n Shelinda'
I smiled at the text message but Lenne's reaction about them earlier changed my expression. I decided to text back.
'hey guys! i'm sorry for not texting you guys back, i'm pretty busy. anyways, what kind of important info are you guys talking about? my trip has been fun so far, but i suppose taking those ap classes would have been funner. :)'
I continued packing until my phone vibrated again.
'we had a feeling it wud B that way. but we talked to the principal, mr. mika, n he said that 1 way that U can still reach a 5.0 is by writing a story about UR break. since U arent able to take ap classes! :)
Love,
Elma Lucil n Shelinda'
When I saw this, my mouth was agape. So there really was a way that I can get that 5.0 and be valedictorian! I then immediately texted back, my hands shaking in excitement.
'seriously you guys? thanx! :) surprisingly i brought my journal, so i guess i am quite prepared. anyways, i've been wanting to ask if you guys are hiding anything from me. i've heard from somebody. :)'
I waited for a response from that message, and continued packing up the necessities into my last baggage. I had around two over sized travel rolling bags, while Rikku had 3 oversized ones, which were packed fully already, having Rikku put the extras into an extra backpack. I kept staring at my phone, and checking my inbox to see if they sent the text message back, until about 20 minutes later, one was sent.
'no, Y wud U think that?
Love,
Elma Lucil n Shelinda'
Instead of replying I just shut my phone and tossed it back into my bag. Figures they would be hiding something. I'd just have to find out once I get back home.
"Why the long face Yunie?" Rikku asked tilting her head to the side.
"Nothing, just my friends acting…weird." I shook my head and rolled my eyes.
"Why? Are they hiding something important from you or something?" Rikku guessed correctly.
"Yeah, wait, how'd you know?" I looked at Rikku with a surprised look on my face.
"Well, let's just say that…I've hung out with more than one group in my freshman and sophmore year." Rikku smiled
"Ohh, I understand." I nodded my head.
"It was actually stupid, really, makes me wanna punch the living daylights outta them!" Rikku laid down on the plush carpeted ground and flipped a page open on a fashion magazine, "I hated it when I had friends that would lie to me about the biggest thing EVER!"
"Wow." I raised my eyebrows in shock.
"Enough said." Rikku rolled her eyes and smirked, "I'm glad that I found Paine and them though, except for Gippal."
Here we go again, I just rolled my eyes and responded, "Whatever you say Rikku."
"Hey! Yunie! I don't like him FYI!" Rikku snapped back up and did her signature pout.
"I'm just kidding Rikku." I smiled at her.
"Stop convicting me of liking him, you, Paine, and Lulu!" Rikku laid back down.
"Okay, I'll try." I threw one of her Chocobo plush pillows at her.
"Don't try, you just will." Rikku used the pillow to rest her head on it and flipped a page of her magazine.
"Okay I will." I laughed and grabbed her Baby Flan beanie pillow to rest my body on it.
"And you promise you'll like the trip, right Yunie?" Rikku grinned up at me, taking her eyes off her magazine.
"Yes, I promise." I nodded my head and grabbed one of Rikku's magazines.
"Good." Rikku smiled.
Yay! Chapter Four finished! It's been a while, and all that school work. Anyways, that song Yuna and Rikku were singing was 'Forever' by Chris Brown. I was singing that song too while I was typing up this story. And it's pretty much stuck in my head too! Well, I made this chapter super duper long! I hope you all enjoyed it. I promise I will TRY to update as fast as I can. Please forgive me if it takes me like a millennium. Well, I love you guys too much to do that. Anyways read and review! Reviews would probably make the next chapter magically appear! Bye bye! Until next time…
Bianca Lightyear, over and out.
