I know it's been long since I updated this story. Let me know if I still have anyone out there that's interested and I will continue and possibly finish this story in a little less than a month. "Oh hey, Ulrich!" Yumi shouted as she walked towards me.
I can't explain it at all, but I really do not want to even look at her right now. I'm not sure why, or how these feelings were brought on, but I felt almost betrayed. I figured it must just be me realizing that these earthlings are disgusting and weak creatures.
"Hey" I answered back as humanly possible.
"This is William I am not sure if you've met, William this is Ulrich," She smiled as she stepped back. At that moment, I had to fight every single ounce of my body so that I would pounce on this guy and rip his head off.
"Hey man, I heard you're new to this school. What made you decide to come to boring old Kadic?" William smiled as he extended his arm out to me. I'm not sure why he extended his arm either but I guess he's just being weird.
"Yeah I'm new, and I was just sent here so I was put in school and stuff" I answered attempting to sound as casual and humanly possible.
"That's cool," William swiftly answered as he finally put his arm down. Finally, the leader of the classroom arrived and William was gone to the other side of the room. I couldn't really focus on what she was saying the whole time however because I couldn't shake the feeling of wanting to attack William. I couldn't put my finger on why I was feeling this way. I wonder if it's just my instinct to hunt that's bothering me.
My thoughts were suddenly distracted by the siren that signals we are released. I sighed as I picked my stuff up to leave the room. Yumi was still in her seat looking at me, I wonder what she was thinking. I wanted so bad to read her mind, unfortunately for me, I was not gifted with that ability, however.
"Hey Ulrich, I did not understand this lecture at all did you?" Yumi asked still reading over her notes.
"Yeah, it was simple, well, to me." I smiled politely.
"Great! Then it is settled, you are going to go over this with me after school. We've got a big test next week and I just can't fail, you'll help me right?" Yumi smiled as she stood up and stared at me waiting for my response.
I smiled back, something about her needing my help just made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, "Sure I'll help, I'll help you every day if you need it."
"Oh thank you, Ulrich, you're the best!" She grinned and just when I was about to start walking for the exit she jumped and embraced me. Normally I would've pushed anyone that dared touch me in that manner off and crush their head, however, there was something about this earthling that just felt… right.
I hugged her back, and as she pulled away I felt empty. What was wrong with me lately? Was I losing my fierceness, I had all the opportunity in the world to crush her at will for invading my space and all I did was hug her back.
"Sorry I know I over stepped my boundaries but I'm really happy you agreed to help me. I'll see you after lunch in English?" Yumi smiled as she walked off.
That was it, I needed to find Odd right as soon as classes ended for the day, I knew only he could explain what was going on with me. Only he could help me see why I haven't been myself since this mission began.
"Hey, sport, what's on your mind?" Odd asked as I ran up to him.
"I uh, a lot actually. I'm confused." I sighed.
"Confused about what?"
"I don't know what's happening to me. You remember that earth girl I've been hanging around with?"
"Yeah, of course, I do, she's a real beauty," Odd winked.
"Right, well every time I see her, I can't help but feel all weird inside. I could physically feel myself sweating, my heart racing, and I have the hardest time thinking of what to say," I sighed.
"Sport sounds to me like you've taken a liking to this Yumi girl. Normally I'd advise you to go for it and have a fling, but our mission is much too important. You can't let anything or anyone get in the way of this."
He was right, what was I thinking genuinely befriending such a weak being. I had to focus. I couldn't take my mind off this mission no matter what obstacles I faced. Suddenly my thoughts were interrupted by a terrible screechy sound.
"Oh, Ulrich dear!" An annoying dark haired girl that was pretty much the complete opposite of Yumi approached me.
"Yes, may I help you?" I sighed attempting to sound polite when in reality, I was actually annoyed with her.
"Well, first of all, hi, I'm Sissi the principal's daughter. It really is so nice to meet you. Second, I was wondering if you could maybe help me with math? I heard you're really good at it." She winked at me as she smiled a bit uncomfortably at me.
"I, uh, you see I'd love to but I can't. I'm already helping Yumi out, sorry." I smiled as politely as I could. The last thing I wanted was to get someone with so much power mad at me.
"That skinny crow! But how could you prefer her over me, I'm all woman, she's, she's nothing but a loser!" Sissi shouted angrily. I backed away as she went on with her rage. I really didn't know what to do.
"You know Sissi, I, I uh, I could help if you need it?" Odd quickly jumped into my rescue. However, something was a bit off he seemed flustered.
"Umm, okay, I hadn't seen you around, you'd think I'd remember you. I'll see you in the library in twenty minutes? Your name is?" She smiled at him in the same manner and extended her arm out.
"Odd is my name and I can't wait." He winked at her as he took her hand and shook it. She simply turned bright red and walked away as she nodded.
"I thought you said we needed to focus." I grinned as I looked at Odd.
"I said YOU couldn't let anything get in the way, I, on the other hand, think I am in love with the most beautiful creature I have ever seen." Odd sighed as he sat on the ground.
"Right, well I've got to go find Yumi now so I'll see you at home." I couldn't help but wonder if Odd would ever change as I walked away chuckling.
"There you are Ulrich!" Yumi smiled as she waved at me. I couldn't help but grin and wave back. I felt my stomach churn and my chest speed up. Was I excited to see her?
"You ready? We can study at my house that way we'll have something to eat. That sound good?"
"Sounds perfect." I smiled as she motioned for me to follow.
Her home was huge, nothing compared to the box that we are staying at. I couldn't help but smile as I looked around and saw pictures a younger Yumi.
"Well, here we are. You can set your books down on the table. I'll sit next to you." She smiled as we both sat.
The rest of the time was spent studying with jokes here and there. Finally, it was time for me to get back home. I had been here long enough.
"Well Yumi, I think that's it for today we need our rest."
She simply smiled as she nodded in agreement, and just as I was getting up I smelled blood. I looked around to find where the scent was coming from. As Yumi moved her hand I saw that it was her finger that was bleeding.
"Hey Yumi, your finger is bleeding, how, what happened?" I couldn't help but wonder what could've caused it, I didn't see anything dangerous near her finger.
"Oh, you're right. Must be a paper cut," she giggled as she grabbed a band aid.
"A paper cut you?" Could earthlings be this week that a mere piece of paper hurts them?
"Uh yeah, haven't you ever heard of them?" She looked at me a bit confused. However, I couldn't help but think that I should be the one confused.
"Of course I have," I smiled trying to play it off. I quickly stood up and started heading for the door after that. As I was leaving I smiled at her as she waved at me. I couldn't help but feel content. However, I sighed as I thought about the fact that me telling Jeremy and Odd that I had proof of how weak these humans were could mean that we were done here. I guess it couldn't hurt if we spend a couple of more days on earth. I mean I didn't have to tell them right away. I could maybe even spend a bit more time with Yumi.
