Time goes by a lot faster than usually and before I can blink, a week has passed and it is time for our school play to be performed in front of the parents, teachers and a few students who show up in the tiny theatre hall. I stand in the corner of the curtain and dare to peek. My family, who all insisted on coming, makes their way to a row of chairs not too far in the back. They even brought Jeffrey along, who announced his short visit a week ago.

I can hear quiet steps from behind and slowly turn around, being surprised at the sight of Daniel, who starts to whisper as I turn around.

"Jane? Is everything alright?"

"Yea. Why shouldn't it be?"

Daniel lets out a nervous laugh. "We are about to perform in front of a thousand people?"

"Well." I pause slightly, realizing that he is a lot more nervous than I will ever be. "It's not too bad, once you're out there. Trust me."

He stares at me in disbelief. "Are you sure?"

"Of course! We practiced so hard, there is no way that this won't be a huge success."

A smile builds up on Daniels face. "Maybe you're right."

"I'm always right."

"Thank you." He turns and scurrys away before I can answer him.

My answer turns out to be right. The play is a huge success. Who would have thought anything else? By the ending of the play the hall fills with applause and whistles. I stand on stage with the girls who play the other two witches. We stand there smiling and try to take in as much of the joyful noises as we can. Then Mr. Geballe enters the stage and thanks us, the audience and everyone who made an effort to turn the play into what it became and eventually, allows us to exit, escape the intrigues and return to our normal lives.

The lights in the hall turn back on and I make my way down the stairs, running into Matt on my way to the dressing rooms. He yells something at me but the sounds of it are drowned by the noises of cheering parents, yelling students and everyone running around. Apparently, Matt knows a solution to our communication problem. He takes my hand and pulls me through the door, leading out of the theater hall and into the hallway. Most of the people made their way out through the door leading outside so there are only a few children running up and down the huge corridor of the school.

Matt turns to me and speaks, without letting go of my hand. "That was a truly amazing play!"

I thank him, smiling and feeling honored of his honest compliment. I decide to tease him a little "It was probably only because of my amazing acting."

"Well, you are amazing." That was not clearly what I expected as an answer. Judging by the look on his face, neither did Matt. He starts blushing and starts rambling about my acting and how I am a nice person.

I watch his struggle for a few moments. Deciding that this might be my chance, I slowly inch closer, stand on my tiptoes and plant my lips on his. He hesitates, I clearly took him by surprise, but then he starts kissing me back.

When he lets go, I know that I'm blushing, my almost professional "witch-make-up" might be a little smeared and I have the biggest smile on my face.

"You truly are amazing" Matt whispers in my ear, making my smile grow even wider and this moment perfect.
