So, no Lexa in the season finale :( It was still an awesome episode, though! Love seeing badass Clarke! :)
Thankfully, my doctor girlfriend has been helping me with all of my grammatical errors, so everything should look a lot better!
Thank you all for the awesome reviews and favorites and all that good stuff. You guys are the best :)
Sorry for all the confusion about the chapters, one of them was accidently uploaded twice and it messed up the order. I think I have it fixed now, though. Thanks for bearing with me, guys!
I do not own the 100 or it's characters
The next several minutes were a complete blur, Lexa's body seemingly on auto pilot as her mind raced. The commander shook her head attempting to clear her thoughts, willing her mind to still the images of the slow and painful death Clarke would suffer at Cage's hands if this plan fell through. All her years of training had prepared her for this, Costia had prepared her for this. This would work-it had to work-or everything she had done in her time as Commander was for nothing. No one would be safe if these monsters made it to the ground.
The group met an exhausted looking Bellamy in what looked to be the holding facility. Lexa felt her blood run cold as the scent of blood, the stolen blood of generations of her people and death filled her nostrils, choking her. She steeled her gaze and realized that someone was missing from this meeting.
"Where is Octavia? Indra said she left to find you."
The boy's face paled in horror "What do you mean 'she left to find me'? Indra, she was supposed to be with you! You were supposed to protect her!" The thought of his little sister crawling around this god-forsaken place alone with guards on high alert making him sick.
"Octavia is strong. She can protect herself." He narrowed his eyes at the general, making a move to lunge at her but was quickly stopped by several blades aimed at his face.
"We don't have time for this, Bellamy. Your friends have all been captured or will be if we don't move fast. Where do they do the harvesting? That is most likely where they've taken the engineer, she's the only one who can help us shut down the generator." The commander spoke with an authority that calmed him and he nodded sheepishly, mumbling an apology.
They crawled through small air ducts, all of them sweating and straining to maneuver forward for minutes that dragged on like hours. Every second that went by was one second closer to victory or complete failure. Somehow, they managed to remain silent while moving through the crawl space until Bellamy signaled for them to stop. He pointed down through the grate and Lexa looked through it to see the engineer being prepped for marrow extraction. They had not sedated her, Lexa supposed they were moving quickly out of desperation. This was good, desperation would make them more dangerous but it would also make them sloppy. She counted four people, including Raven: The doctor and two nurses.
"One, two, three", she signaled with her fingers before she and Bellamy dropped down through the vent. He dispatched the doctor while Lexa took care of the nurses, the whole ordeal taking only a few seconds. The rest of the group dropped down as Bellamy helped Raven up and into her leg brace.
"I know you're hurting and pissed, but we need your help, Raven. We're going for the backup generator."
The engineer's eyes widened at Bellamy's words. "Clarke said-"
Lexa cut her off quickly, "Clarke has been captured. Plans have changed. This is the only way our people will be safe." Raven nodded and moved off of the gurney with some difficulty.
She walked to the counter on the other side of the room and began sketching a layout of the facility. "Every one of the mountain men is here, on Level 5. Getting around should be pretty easy, only a few guards have been cured and will be patrolling the other levels, no doubt looking for us. The backup generator is here, not far from where Wick and I got nabbed in the turbine room. Once we get to the generator, I should be able to fry it pretty quickly. Hopefully, before they find out what we're up to and take our people out."
Bellamy nodded and looked to the grounders, getting a nod in return from each of them. "Let's go." They moved fast, encountering no guards and it was making Lexa uneasy. There was no way that Cage didn't know Clarke's people would come after her, very guard that was able should have been patrolling every inch of this place.
"Hod op, something is wrong. Cage knows you know that he has her, why are there no guards looking for us? They have to know that you're going after her."
Bellamy shook his head "How can you know that? For all we know they're all still on level 5."
Raven let out an exasperated sigh, "Guys! We don't have time for this, we need to move. Lexa is right, there has to be a reason they aren't looking for us. We don't have time to get all the way to the generator, but I can shut the filtration system down from the control room, it's closer but probably guarded. Clarke is probably being held by Cage personally, he's going to want to make an example of her. "
Lexa liked the engineer's spirit, such tenacity and strength was hard to come by in the Sky People. "We split up. Lincoln and Nyko follow me, Indra and Ryder follow Bellamy and Raven. Protect them. Raven, radio as soon as you're in the control room and ready to shut the filtration system down."
The two Sky People looked at Lexa with surprise. They had not expected her to volunteer herself and her guards to rescue their unofficial leader. Bellamy gave Lexa his keycard.
"You'll need it to get into level 5. I have another that will get us into the control room. Get her out of here safe, Lexa." The group parted ways with a nod, all of them equally determined to complete their missions.
Lexa, Nyko, and Lincoln gave up trying to navigate through the air ducts, most if not all of the guards were on level 5 protecting Cage and the other mountain people. They ascended the stairs quickly, coming upon the impressive steel door separating them from the entire mountain population and the 44 Sky captives. Even through the steel, Lexa could hear the sounds of a drill followed by shrill screams of pure agony. The commander grit her teeth and felt sick as her mind flooded with images of marrow extraction.
"There will be guards, how many I cannot say. I am going after Clarke as soon as this door opens. I want you two to go for any guards, keep them off of us. Raven will be ready to shut the system off any minute now, once that is done we have have to move fast." The grounder warriors simply nodded their understanding, Lincoln visibly upset hearing the extraction being performed. "Octavia is here somewhere, probably helping the Sky People who weren't captured. We will find her, Linkon." He said nothing, only nodded again in response. The three of them waited by the door anxiously, willing the radio to signal the attack.
"We are a-go, Commander."
The grounders burst through the door, swords and bows ready to cut down everything in their path. Lexa spotted Cage quickly, but was surprised to find him being held at bay by Clarke who had the former mountain leader at gunpoint. Time seemed to stand still as the groups faced each other, each side unsure of what to do next. Raven and Bellamy watched the exchange nervously through the control room monitor, both of their hands lingering on the filtration lever.
"It's over, Cage. Let my people go or I shoot him." The blonde's words broke the silence. The conviction in the blonde's voice was unwavering, it left no room for negotiation. Lexa felt proud watching Clarke being the true leader she was, she thought in that moment that the Sky Girl was the strongest person she had ever known. Clarke met Lexa's eyes and acknowledged her with her gaze, seemingly unfazed by the grounders' appearance. Lexa saw the storms brewing in those steel blue eyes and feared for those standing in the blonde's way.
"I can't do that. I let them go, my people either die by your hands or rot away in this mountain," The mountain leader looked at his father apologetically, "I'll protect them." With that he turned his back, waiting to hear a shot that never came. Instead, an alarm sounded loudly, forcing everyone to cover their ears.
"What the hell is going on?!" Clarke shouted to no one in particular. "Your friends just irradiated the level!" Cage yelled in response.
They watched in horror as mountain people started gasping for air and falling to the floor, burns and blisters appearing on their skin and screams of pain filled the room. In all of the chaos, no one noticed Cage making for the exit until a shot rang out and Lexa watched him sneak away. The commander saw Clarke clutching at her stomach before falling to her knees and blood pooling around her hand.
"CLARKE!" The commander rushed to the blonde's side, fear seizing her heart as she saw the amount of blood pouring from the wound. Lincoln fired an arrow at the shooter, dropping him to the ground immediately. "You're going to be okay, Clarke. We're getting you and your people out of here. Just stay with me."
Clarke's eyes were rolling back in her head and she was fading in and out of consciousness. Lexa picked her up bridal-style and shouted orders to Lincoln and Ryder. "Get the Sky People out of the mountain safely. I am taking Clarke to our camp, bring the Sky Healer. Find Cage and his father, I want them both brought back to camp, alive." Without so much as a second glance, Lexa sprinted out of level 5 and before she was even aware, out of the mountain. She was now covered in Clarke's blood and the blonde's breathing was becoming more labored.
"Stay with me, Clarke. Yu gonplei ste nou odon."
