Kai fumbled about his room nervously. He had a date with his girlfriend Jinora tonight. He'd had them before of course, but this time was going to be different. Kai let out a triumphant "YES!" as he found what he was looking for. It was a small red box. Kai opened it to check if it still contained the precious treasure it was guarding. He sighed in relief seeing that it was. It was a ring, and not just any ring. Kai was going to propose to Jinora tonight. The ring was gold and silver twined together. It had a small emerald engraved in the top. Simple, but beautiful, just Jinora's style. Kai closed back up the box and slipped in into his suit jacket's pocket. Perfect timing too, because no sooner than he had put the ring in his pocket than had Jinora knocked on his door. Kai opened his door. Jinora was standing there looking amazing. She had on a red dress with spaghetti straps. The dress was knee length. It fit her body in the most flattering way possible.

"Hi Kai," Jinora said.

"Hey Jinora. You look beautiful." Jinora blushed and gave Kai a peck on the cheek.

"So, you ready?" Kai asked, "I got us reservations at one of the best restaurants in Republic City." Jinora nodded.

When they got to the restaurant, a waiter welcomed them and seated them at a table for two.

"May I take your order?" the man asked politely.

"Sure," Kai said, "What do you want to eat Jinora?"

"Could I have the vegetarian special?" Jinora asked. The waiter scribble her order down on a pad of paper. He then turned to Kai.

"And you sir?"

"I'll have the noodle bowl," Kai said. The waiter wrote that down then gave them a smile.

"We'll bring out to you as soon as we can. Now, anything to drink?"

"I think I'm good with just water," Kai told him.

"Me too," Jinora added.

"Okay, I will bring you your drinks in a moment." With that, the waiter walked off. He soon brought back the drinks, and not long after that, he brought out their food.

"Mmm! This is great!" Kai said, slurping up his noodles. Jinora giggled at her boyfriend's enthusiasm.

"How is your food Jinora?" Kai said.

"It's delicious, thanks."

When they finished eating, Kai called the waiter over and asked for the bill. As the couple walked out of the restaurant, Kai asked Jinora if wanted to go on a walk in the Avatar Korra park.

"Sure," Jinora said. She interlaced her fingers through his as they headed to the park. When they got there, Kai suddenly stopped under the light of a lone streetlamp.

"Kai?"

"Jinora, we've been dating for 8 years now, ever since we got together at 13. We've gone through ups and downs, many battles, and gotten through it all. I love you more than I have ever loved someone in my life, and I'd like to spend the rest of my life with you." Jinora gasped as Kai knelt down on one knee and pulled a small red box out of his pocket.

"Jinora," he said, "Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"

Tears of pure happiness ran down Jinora's face.

"Yes Kai, a thousand times yes!" She let Kai slide the ring onto her finger then fused her lips with his in a passionate kiss. Kai wrapped his arms tightly around her waist. Jinora tangled her hands into Kai's soft brown hair and Kai moaned into her mouth at the pleasant feeling. They'd had only kissed this fervently one other time, and that time they'd been interrupted by Ikki, who happened to walk in on them making out Kai's room. Nothing had happened in there besides the kissing of course, but it took a while to convince Ikki of that, and even longer to bribe her not to tell Tenzin. However, both Kai and Jinora were sure that they'd be able to kiss like this a lot more now that they were getting married, and also demonstrate their love in more intimate ways that can only be done by husband and wife. Finally, their passionate kiss slowed down, and Jinora rested her forehead against Kai's.

"I love you so much Kai," she said.

"I love you more," Kai said.

Jinora placed a gentle kiss on the arrow tattoo that peeked out from under his hair and Kai smiled.

"Impossible," Jinora said, "No one could ever love anyone more than I love you."

The next weeks were filled with prepping for the wedding. It was going to be held on Air Temple Island. Jinora had already asked Korra to be her maid of honor (much to Ikki's dismay) and Kai was going to heading over to Bolin's right now to ask him to be his best man. When he knocked on the door, Bolin's 4 year old son answered.

"Uncle Kai!" the little boy exclaimed seeing the airbender standing at the door. Bolin and Opal had two kids and both had taken to calling Kai "Uncle Kai". The little boy who stood in front of Kai now was named Kancho. He looked just like a younger version of Bolin, except of a little darker complexion, which he got from his mom, Opal. Bolin and Opal's daughter was named Toph after Opal's grandma. She was two, but already the spitting image of her mother. "I wonder what me and Jinora's kids will look like?" Kai thought. He smiled just thinking about starting a family with Jinora.

"Hey kiddo," Kai greeted Kancho, "Are your dad and mom home?" Kancho nodded and ran down the hallway shouting, "MOM! DAD! UNCLE KAI'S HERE!" Kai wasn't sure whether or not he should just go ahead in since the door was already open, or stay and wait for Bolin or Opal to come to the door. Before he could decide, Bolin came to the door.

"Kai!" the earthbender said, bringing the younger man into a hug, "How ya been buddy?"

"I've been good. Been pretty busy lately preparing for the wedding and all," Kai answered.

"Yeah, I'm sure," Bolin said, "Weddings are a lot of work to plan. So what brings you here?"

"Well, actually, I was wondering if you would be willing to be my best man."

Bolin's eyes widened.

"OPAL!" Kai jumped at Bolin's shout. Opal quickly came rushing in, little Toph waddling after her.

"What is it honey?! What happened?!"

"Kai just asked me to be his best man," Bolin said happily, tears welling up in his eyes. Opal sighed in relief, having thought something was wrong after Bolin shouted her name.

"That's great honey," Opal said. Bolin then turned back to Kai.

"Of course I'll be your best man!"

"Thanks Bolin," Kai said smiling, "Well, I'd better be heading back. Gotta get this wedding planned out."

Before they knew it, the big day had arrived. People rushed around doing last minute things to prepare. Kai was currently putting on the suit he was going to wear. It was white and green. As he smoothed down his messy hair, a knock sounded at his door.

"Kai," Bolin said from outside the door, "We need to go ahead and get to the altar."

"Okay, coming." Kai walked out and Bolin whistled.

"Lookin' good bro," he said, clapping the airbender on the shoulder, "That color really suits you. Now, you ready for this?" Kai took a deep breath.

"Yeah," he said, "I'm ready."

Kai fidgeted nervously at the altar, waiting for the music to start playing. Once it did though, he straightened up and looked to where Jinora would be entering. The flower girls walked in. After them came the bridesmaids, then Korra as the maid of honor. Then, escorted by her father, came Jinora. Kai's eyes widened. She looked absolutely stunning. His eyes followed her all the way to the altar where she met him with a shy smile.

"Wow," Kai whispered. Jinora giggled at his reaction. The priest told them to join hands and then the two said their vows. When they finished reciting those, they exchanged the rings. Then the priest smiled.

"You may now kiss the bride," he said. Kai smiled at Jinora and slowly pressed his lips to her. The crowd cheered loudly for the kissing bride and groom.

The reception was filled with laughing and dancing, and everyone had a good time. When it was time for Kai and Jinora to leave, everyone lined up and threw flower petals at the newly weds. When they got to their new bedroom Kai wrapped his arms around Jinora from behind, pressing his lips to her neck.

"You know," he said, his lips grazing the sensitive skin there, "I guess this means we'll be together forever." Jinora smiled, then turned to face him. She brought his face to hers, kissing him deeply. The kiss grew more and more heated and the couple fell back onto the bed, loving each other as husband and wife for the first time.
