The next couple of weeks seemed to move by like a blur for Fiona. The two foxes had formed a sort of daily routine. They would wake up, she had been given the guest room of the home, fix some breakfast, and then go about their day.

For her it was sitting about the house studying books and articles that caught her up on the time she missed and pick up on current events. The fall of Robotnik and the newly reestablished kingdom of Acorn governed by none other than Sonic the Hedgehog and Sally Acorn herself.

Tails on the other hand tended to stay in his shop and work on the various projects he housed there. She would check in every so often throughout the day just to see how he was doing. The mechanic would make a variety of new and interesting gadgets that left her surprised every time.

When Fiona wasn't with him she was taking care of the home and or organizing things in the yard. He had insisted that she didn't need to worry about doing anything while she stayed with him, but she put her foot down. If there was one thing Fiona Fox was known for it wasn't being a freeloader, needless to say he gave in.

The weight she had lost from being in Moebius had slowly returned thanks to three meals a day and exercise from doing her activities. Her clothes still fit without any problems; they were only a little snugger.

The day had already passed for the most part when she looked at herself in the mirror that was propped up against the wall. It hadn't taken very long for the bruises to disappear and her fur had returned to its once vibrant state.

Its like I was never there. She laughed to herself. Like Moebius had never existed.

Looking out the window she noticed that the sun was beginning to set. I need to check on him, its almost time for dinner. I should bug him to put a clock somewhere in there.

She quickly slipped her boots on and zipped up her jacket. There had been some light snowfall the last couple of days and it had become rather brisk outside.

The lights in the workshop were still on as she approached.

I wonder if he even knows what time it is. Fiona giggled as she reached for the knob.

She quietly opened the door and stepped inside. The vixen could hear music softly echoing off the walls of the hangar and a two-tailed fox humming to it.

Peeking around the corner of one of his machines she could see him swinging to the music, his tails twirling around behind him. He was singing with the tune.

"It's a beautiful night, I'm lookin' for somethin' dumb to do. Hey baby, I think I want to marry you." Fiona heard him murmur softly to himself as he continued to jig to the song.

She could feel her cheeks heat up. Not you idiot! You know he isn't talking to you. The vixen patted her face and tried to not smile at the situation before her. Before she left she never had the chance to see Tails open up like this. There had been very few occasions where he could really keep his guard down.

Although the scene before her was adorable they needed to have dinner at some point. She stepped out from behind the machine, "Tails?"

The boy nearly leapt out of his skin and turned mid air on a dime, "Fiona?!" He slipped and crashed back into his workbench.

She had to cover her mouth quickly to avoid exploding in laughter. "My, aren't you surprised to see me!"

He rubbed his back with a groan and chuckled, "Yeah, I guess you could say that." Fiona could swear that she could see the heat coming off his face.

Trying to recover Tails quickly brushed himself off. "So what's up?"

She pointed out the window, "Well I suppose you somehow managed to not notice the moon saying hello." Her eyes sparkled mischievously.

A hand went to the back of his head. He was clearly embarrassed. "Sorry about that. Had a few things on my mind and got a little carried away."

The vixen motioned for him to follow, "No worries! Come on, let's go get some grub."

Dinner was a quick, quiet affair, she and Tails stood side-by-side cleaning the dishes. Even though they weren't speaking to one another the atmosphere was so comfortable it caused her to smile. I don't think I could ever imagine doing something like this with Scourge, or Sonic for that matter.

A frown graced her features. I have to stop that. Thinking about the past is only keeping me there. I need my eyes forward.

"Something wrong?" Fiona heard Tails ask, concern filling his eyes.

She smiled, "Oh, no, its nothing. I was just thinking." Well that didn't sound convincing at all.

He looked back at the plate in his hand, "You know if there's ever anything wrong you can tell me, right?"

She nodded, "Thank you."

With the last of the dishes cleaned they moved to the living room where the fire crackled, welcoming them to sit. Tails took a seat across from her in one of the chairs with an expression that she couldn't quite read.

His low, but steady, "I need to talk with you about something, Fiona."

Immediately something welled up inside her, was it worry or fear? "Yes?"

The pilot rubbed his hands together and sighed, "I'm not going to be able to stay up here for very much longer."

Huh? "What do you mean?"

"I have to go back to New Mobotropolis, if I'm up here much longer people will wonder where I've been. Sonic, after long enough, might try to hunt me down himself." He chuckled nervously.

It made sense to her, Tails had mentioned that he came up here for vacation and had only let a few people know where he was going. He didn't need to say anymore, she knew what he was going to ask.

"Are you going to come with me?" His voice was soft. She could see traces of fear and doubt cloud his eyes. It had been several weeks since she saw anything that even came close to this.

The question was so simple and yet it made her fidget where she sat. "I'm not sure, Tails."

He met her eyes, "I'm sure if you were with me Sonic and everyone else would be fine with you coming back."

She could feel her eyes roll, "I'm pretty sure the King and Queen would sooner want to knock me out than hear an apology. Sally's got a mean right hook."

There was a pause, "Maybe we wouldn't have to talk with them first. I could snag Nicole or something, between me and her they aught to at least hear you out."

A regular problem solver, she sighed, "And how can you be so sure that she will help me? I didn't exactly leave Mobius with a very good impression."

He shrugged, "Eleven years is a long time, I have faith that they will let it blow over."

Her arms were now crossed, "Faith?"

Tails nodded and gave a confident smile.

Of course he'd try to figure out some way to make it work, it frustrating and endearing all at the same time. All her worries began to bubble up once more. She could easily imagine the looks she would receive, the scorn she would feel. Her eyes closed.

They probably hate me; they all hate me for what I did to Tails. That's all they have to remember me by. Some have had eleven years to stew on it. A shiver ran down her spine.

She could feel warm hands envelope her own. Fiona glanced back up, "I would be with you every step of the way. I'll knock some sense in them if I have to but in the end, if you don't want to go, you don't want to go. I won't force you to come."

His smile was warm, the positive feelings he had coming off him in waves, filling her with hope. The fear began to subside, replaced with something far more comforting. Even now he's placing someone else before himself…

"Really?"

"I would do anything to make you happy." He stated simply.

Her heart stopped at his words.

No one has ever said something that sweet to me. Its like Tails was always full of surprises. His words left her speechless.

Understanding what he might've just said the mechanic in front of her began to blush and looked away, embarrassed. He scratched the back of his head with an uneasy smile plastered to his lips.

Even though her heart was beating like a jackhammer she could feel her breathing calm down. He'll be right there with you, "So, what should I pack?"

The glow in his eyes made every sliver of doubt drift away.
