This chapter is set about seven months after Mike's accident.

Harvey glanced over to Mike, once in a while, as he fought with the banners and balloons, he was trying to instill in his flat in celebration of Donna's birthday.

Mike had been left to his own devices, with a punnet of grapes, full control of the Television remote and all of his transportation toys emptied out on the floor.

This was of course to keep him out of the older mans way who didn't fancy the Excitable young man undoing all his hard work.

Mike crawled over, smiling up at Harvey "Dat?" He cooed, pointing to one of the balloons.

Harvey smiled "It's a balloon buddy"

Mike sat on his knees, stretching up; looking more like a puppy than Harvey had ever seen.

"Mine" Harvey smirked, there was the old favourite word of the former associate.

Harvey had instilled the help of his parents on how to plan a surprise birthday, he had never planned any birthday and knew it would mean the world to Donna, especially now they had Mike.

Now they had Mike? He had to stop saying that, it made Mike sound like a puppy he had adopted from the shelter.

Harvey was pulled out his reminiscing when he could hear a rustling sound. "God damn it kid" Mike whined, as his head was quickly pulled out the plastic bag.

"Mike, no. That is dangerous" Mike Eyed Harvey with a raised eyebrow, popping another grape in his mouth, undeterred.

Harvey had swore that Mike always eyed him with 'You can't so shit about it' looks. Donna laughed for hours on end and told him he was being paranoid and ridiculous.

Sure when Donna was around Mike was a little angel, but for Harvey he was a pain in the ass, ignoring every word he said.

"Aba gwapes" Mike cooed, looking up at him, drool covered chin and dirty Face. Kid definetely needed a bath and the last thing Harvey wanted was to put that suspicious looking grape in his mouth, but he did it for Mike.

... He did it all for Mike.

Mike giggled, clapping happily, offering another out.

"Mike bud, it is mummy's birthday today, we are going to make a cake! You want to help?"

Mike squealed nodding "Ake ake ake" he chanted. The younger man loved cake, that was one thing that had not changed since his accident.

Harvey ruffled Mike's hair, being mindful for the large fire engine under his foot, as he finished hanging the last banner.

Mike crawled under his feet, causing Harvey to trip a few times, he smiled to himself though, Mike was progressing very well with all his therapy.

While Mike sat on the couch (made to sit on an old blanket in just a clean diaper having been stripped) eating his lunch, Harvey hoovered and tidied around the condo, Mike giggling in hysterics at the sound of the hoover.

Harvey didn't know why, but the younger man found it hilarious and when he put the hose in his face, (not that he did such childish things, he was a serious senior partner) the squeals and happy shrieks melted his heart.

Mike clapped his hands "Gwain" he cooed, throwing a couple of tomatoes for the hoover to catch, giggling and rolling around on the couch.

Harvey smiled fondly, deciding that the next thing on the schedule would be to attempt to clean Mike, before they made any cake. He did not want that kid in his kitchen the way he was.

Mike was smiling happily, until he saw the dreaded packet of baby wipes, starting to shake his head, making unhappy sounding noises.

Harvey pulled Mike on to his knee, taking a seat next to him. "I know buddy, almost done" he promised, knowing wipes stressed Mike out.

Mike flapped his hands "Ahhh no no daddy" he squealed, tears starting. Harvey couldn't bear to hear Mike cry, he quickly surrendered the wipes to the younger man who threw them to the floor.

Harvey's plan to bake cake, bathe Mike and then put the younger man down for a long nap, giving him time to work on some cases, had not exactly panned out, after Mike had consumed far too much milk to remain awake and was now out cold on the couch.

Mike snored softly, sucking on his pacifier, stuffed dinosaur tucked under his armpit.

Harvey usually had his schedule down with Mike, but there were times when Mike would just crash, probably too much for his brain to handle.

It saddened Harvey that his once eidetic was non non existent; as far as they were aware.

"Mike! Stop eating the mixture" Harvey found himself scolding for what must have been the 50th time.

Mike smiled, as he dipped his fingers back in the bowl, Harvey ran a hand through his own hair, as he tried to encourage the younger man to use the wooden spoon provided and to actually leave some mixture to bake.

Mike was into everything in the kitchen, opening the fridge, pulling things out the cover, stashing the chocolate down his diaper.

"Come on!" Harvey groaned, having turned his back to hunt down something that could be used to test the temperature of the cake, when Mike had dropped (thrown) the eggs on to the floor.

Mike giggled as he used his hands to spread the mixture onto the floor.

"No! That is naughty, move over there" Harvey said, not giving Mike any chance as he lifted him over to the other side of the kitchen, groaning to himself as he cleaned the egg mess off the floor.

"No- get out of that fridge now, that is not for your sticky paws!"

Oh god. Give him strength.

"Right! Cake baking is over" Harvey announced, once Mike had just emptied the milk into the floor.

"You are an absolute pain in the ass Mike. go away" Harvey had directed at him, not thinking anything of it. It was just like a scolding adult Mike would have received.

Except he wasn't adult Mike. Shit.

He knew Mike wasn't trying to be a pain in the ass, but he was making a mess of his kitchen and they hadn't actually achieved anything.

Feeling bad as Mike started to cry pitifully, having only wanted to help his daddy.

Mike crawled off into the lounge, laying down on the floor, full on crying now.

"Mike, buddy, I'm sorry" Harvey sighed, placing what was left of the mixture into the oven and leaving the mess in his kitchen, he lifted Mike into his arms, rocking him on his hip.

"Buddy, I know, I know, that was mean of daddy, you only wanted to help make mummy's cake"

Harvey placated Mike with his pacifier and a bottle of milk.

"I think mummy is going to love our cake kiddo, daddy couldn't have done it without you"

Mike snuggled in happily "Dada" he cooed.

Harvey held Mike in his lap as he ran a bath, encouraging the younger man to pour in as many bubbles as he wanted, feeling the need to make it up to him from earlier.

Mike was back to his happy self, giggling and cooing sweetly as he watched the bubbles expand.

Harvey had held back on trying to tell Mike that he didn't need to empty his whole box of toys into the bath.

Mike now owned more bath toys then Harvey knew existed, thanks to Donna.

Bath time was always a special time for the two of them, for Harvey it was a chance to spend some quality time with Mike, after a whole day of being focused on work. For Mike it was such a comforting experience and any experience with his daddy was the best in his eyes.

After his bath, Mike was very much attached to Harvey.

He always became this way after a bath, it made him feel sleepy and cosy and now that he was in a cosy sleepsuit with freshly washed hair meant sleep was imminent.

Harvey held him on his hip as he prepared a snack for the two of them, checking Donna's cake, preparing a snack for the young baby

"Mwama cake" Mike cooed, as he pointed to the chocolate cake lying on the counter.

Harvey smiled "Clever boy, we made that"

Mike giggled, clapping "Ever boy Dada" (Clever boy daddy)

Geez. This kid... His kid.

Harvey sat with Mike in his lap as they watched Thomas the tank engine; something the older man could actually tolerate, he was racking his brain trying to think of anything else one should have for their birthday.

He didn't really celebrate his anymore, it was Donna who always placed a cake and flowers on his desk to show him she cared. She knew he secretly appreciated it.

Mike had found out about his birthday and had probably saved about two months wages and starved himself, in order to purchase him his favourite scotch.

Harvey looked down to see Mike contently resting his head against his chest.

"Shit buddy, we need a card for mummy" Harvey quickly stood, nearly sending Mike crashing to the floor. Mike gulped, starting to cry, clinging to Harvey.

"Mike buddy, we need to make mummy a card" Mike whined in response, twisting his head, to see the TV better.

Harvey chuckled, dumping him onto the couch, Mike started to become agititated, trying to work out how to get down, crying.

"Aw come on grumpy, daddy is getting glitter and glue. We can't not make mummy a card"

Mike reached for Harvey "Ababa" Havey" he wailed. Harvey quickly sat down beside Mike, having to physically force him to make the card.

To say Mike was pissed at his, was an understatement, he wanted nothing to do with the glue and glitter and looked at Harvey in pure horror as he stuck his finger into it. "Ahh ahhhh no"

Harvey sprinkled some glitter on himself, sticking down some flowers, looking at Mike, the kid was acting like he had just tortured him.

Mike was still feeling a little off, when Donna returned home. Harvey supposed it was because his schedule had been off all day and had been busy.

"Manama" Mike cooed, crawling over to Donna, who immediately placed down her back, crouching to hug the young man.

"Oh sweetie, I have missed you"

Mike cuddled in, sucking on his pacifier. only pulling away, when Harvey took him.

Donna poured himself a glass of wine, smiling at the art supplies left on the table. That was something she never imagined Harvey would do with the kid.

"Remember what we say, Happy Birthday mama" Harvey could be heard trying to coax Mike.

Donna's eyes widened and tears appeared, as she saw Harvey and Mike walk In, Mike holding a huge glitter loaded card and Harvey a cake.

Mike beamed "Hwa biwy mama" he tried.

"Oh my god, Harvey! You didn't. This is the best birthday ever" Donna squealed, hugging the older man.

Harvey smiled "Glad you are enjoying it, now I need a scotch!"
