Glasses Taken Off, Beauty Shines Upon ch4
"and last but not least my room" Izayoi said as she brought us outside her door of the room.
So far, as I have concluded in my head, that her home (mansion) was filled with ancient antics known to be expensive if you sold them at an ochtion. She said she was the daughter of the great senator. She also mentioned he was in one of his meetings in America.
Her bedroom was no different than the others, but the difference was she barely had any stuff to look at other than a few perfumes and accessories on her desk. There was a queen-sized bed followed by a wardrobe and a desk to do her studies. You could almost mistakenly see this room as a boys room.
"quit staring and follow me" she said as we entered her room. She sat on her chair while I took a seat at the corner of her bed.
"oh no you don't, your sitting on the floor"
"but why?" I questioned.
"cause it's my room. And it would give off the wrong meaning if someone came here and saw you there"
"you're the one who says it as a bad thing. I just wanted to sit"
She was giving me a glare in which it had no effect on me. It's like a kuriboh trying to pick a fight with a blue-eyes white dragon. A shame really.
"get off now"
I sighed. "fine" I said as I sat on the floor cross-legged. "you could have said please" I muttered.
I took out a piece of paper and pen. Now if we wanted to do this project we have to come out with a few ideas to start us off first. Now what was the topic again?
"what do you think the topic could be Izayoi?" I looked at her only to see her looking straight at her mirror.
"you really like to stare at mirrors don't you?"
"well you like to stare at me don't you?" she said without taking a glance back. "touché" I muttered.
"Nazca lines..." I heard her mutter.
"what?"
"I said how about the Nazca lines? They are lines that people from ancient times build on the ground to give a sigh to the people of the stars" she said.
"I haven't thought about that. I've never heard of them before" thinking back when I was just a kid, Martha, my caretaker, would tell me stories of old legends. But not once heard of that story.
"well I was just suggesting. What is your idea?"
"hmm, that is a tough one" should I suggest one of the stories that Martha has told me? There was a favorite one that I would ask of her to tell me again. Which was it?
"well?" she said, boredom in her voice.
"oh I got it! How about the sighners?"
She raised a brow. "the sighners?"
"yeah, it was one of the stories that my caretaker, Martha, once told me. She said there were five people who had sighner marks on their arms. They were people who vanquished evil whenever there was any"
"did you say five?"
"yeah, why?"
"no reason" she looked back again to the mirror. I was about to ask her why was she looking at the mirror so much when suddenly the door opened.
"hi kids, here I brought you snacks for you to enjoy and drinks too" she placed them at the desk where Izayoi was. The snacks where sandwiches that had ham, sliced tomatoes, and honey mustered on them. On the side where sliced apples cut into bunny forms. And orange juice for the drinks.
"thank you Mrs. Margaret" as I helped myself to one of the sandwiches. They tasted pretty good.
"oh, Mrs. was my mother, just call me Margaret" she said. She looked at Izayoi. "Aki, arrant you going to help yourself to some? It's very good, you should try it" she motioned her to the plate.
"in a minute Margaret. I'll be back, I'm going to wash up first" as she went into the restroom.
"is something wrong with Izayoi?" I said.
"not at all. That's how she is now. Don't let that get to you" as she bowed and left the room.
"that's how she is now? What does that mean?" could it be of how she is in school? Hmm, I wonder. I was going to take another helping for myself when I heard the door open.
"don't listen to what she says. She's delusional" as she grabbed a bunny-shaped apple slice.
"Izayoi, can I ask you a question?"
"it depends on what your asking"
"well it sorta has to do with school"
She stopped munching and paused for a minute. "no"
"why?"
"Look mister, you barely arrived here at school and all of a sudden you want to know about me? Seems kind of suspicious to me" giving me a wary eye.
"have you ever heard of someone being slightly curious?"
"have you ever heard of curiosity killed the cat?" already sipping on her drink.
"touché...but that's not the point I want to get at. I just want-
"you know what Fudo. I think it's getting late. I'm sure you haven't told your parents where you are. And I'm pretty sure they gave you work to do also"
She was right on that. I didn't thought I would be following, let alone go to Izayoi's home. And they did give me work to do. Nothing I can't solve though.
"I guess I should be going then. At least we got a few ideas for the project" grabbing my bag and heading out the door.
As I dissented down the stairs I caught sight of Margaret cleaning a few vases in the hallway.
"oh, leaving so soon Yusei?" she asked.
"yes, I'm afraid so. It's getting pretty late and I have a few things I got to do before I go to school tomorrow " as I put on my shoes on.
"well it's nice of you to come visit Aki. Come see us again" walking up to the door and opening it for me.
I gave her my gratitude and waved goodbye as I left the house.
"is he gone"
"yes I'm afraid so. You know he's a great boy, it was nice of him to visit you Aki"
"yeah well...that's the last of him you'll ever see" she muttered.
