Usually silence was a miracle in these times. The car horns would echo down into your neighborhood to rattle the wind chimes, and there were always those children shrieking with either happiness or simply for a temper tantrum when their parent said 'no'. Now though, with four people- strangers down in your living room, it was almost eerie.

It almost deafening, the lack of noise giving a distant ringing in your ears as you curled back into the comforts of the worn mattress. Whenever you had too many thoughts all at once, it had become easier to curl under your quilt as you shut the world away along with your thoughts. Time would pass without really acknowledge it, but the tempo of the rain either speeding to become louder, or slow to a softer pattern; it was a wave of sound, the only sound that traveled through the home.

Numb. Other than the physical pain that was always in a constant, dull throb would spike to a sharper twinge..all you could do was stare at the corner of the wall where the ceiling connected with empty, (e/c) gaze. The feeling submerged your being with a wave of exhaustion, leaving you to feel even more vulnerable. Your trance was broken by a soft knock on the door to your room. At first it was unrecognizable, knowing how each member of your family asked to enter. Before you could really think of who it was, the familiar copper hair of the chipper Italian peered in and gave a soft, closed smile.

"Ciao, bella," he hummed out, tilting his head. "I wanted to check on you to be sure you were okay!" His voice sounded as if he tried his best to keep it as quiet as he could, though had that underlying cheer to it...was it for your sake? "So- are you okay?"

The question was somewhat familiar- hearing it day in and day out in either school by a teacher, or by your grandmother who knew you too well. But, were you okay..? No. "Yeah, I'm fine.." You managed to voice out with a faint smile to assure him that's what you wanted to believe.

Evidently the answer didn't satisfy him, seeing how the Italian male only walked into the room and plopped himself onto the foot of your bed. "Grazie, again, for letting mi fratello and friends stay here," Feli said with the permanent smile on his face, like a small sunlight that peered through despite the storm outside.

It bothered being at such a disadvantage, shifting into a sitting position and rested your back against the wall with the comforter laying in a small heap in your lap. (E/c) optics stared back in the honey-amber that was just as sweet as he was at heart, leaving almost a sense of warmth in what you normally call 'the void where my heart once was'. It was..different- not love persay- but it was a nice feeling when you were assured by a friend: it was that feeling.

Not all moments could last, and the short silent was shattered by a loud, and rather angry male from downstairs…

"Where the hell are we, and where is mi fratello, potato bastard?!"

A/N:I am so so so so sorry for not updating sooner and I had finally had the time to type it up and get writing again. I'll try to bring some more of the Axis and a couple of the Allies in the next chapters, okay?
