"Ruby! What the hell was that?" Emma exclaimed as soon as Ruby ran back into the camp as the first few rays of light reflected on the stream.

"Emma? Did you even sleep?" Ruby yawned as she entered the clearing.

"Nope."

"You should have." Ruby frowned.

"How? All I know is that you gave me this dumb speech and then ran into the forest. What was I supposed to do? What was I supposed to think? I didn't know if you'd left for good, if you were coming back, when, if someone was going to sneak up on me or something. I thought you might just leave me here, and that would be the last time I ever saw you. Did you really think I'd do anything but stay up all night thinking?"

Ruby shook her head, trying to contain her frustration. "No. But I hoped you would focus on yourself and not on me."

"Sorry for being worried for you. What the hell was that, by the way?" Emma asked angrily.

"What?"

"What? How about you sprinting off into the forest without more than an 'I have to go'? The least I deserve is an explanation before you made a break for it." Emma exclaimed. She was met with a hesitant silence. "Look, if you don't want to be near me right now, just say."

"That's not it. I was... scouting. Looking for a trail." Ruby told her.

"A trail?"

"To get to the castle. Plus, running helps me think." Ruby shrugged.

"I know. And?" Emma encouraged.

"And what?"

"What did you find? Did you think of anything?" Emma asked eagerly.

"Yeah. I know how we can get home."
