"Himawari, are you okay?" Sarada asked. She and Mitsuki were just going over to the Uzumaki household when they noticed their teammate's younger sister sitting on the park bench alone.
Himawari looked up at them with watery eyes and then back down at her feet which were dangling off the bench. Sarada and Mitsuki both looked at each other, before Sarada decided to sit down.
"No… Before papa wasn't at home and it was hard, but… now mama is busy too and Onii-chan is gone." Himawari sobbed.
Sarada shared her feelings. It was lonely without Boruto, even though she would never admit it. All their friends were in a panic too. Especially Iwabe and Denki. The only one who seemed to believe everything would work out was Shikadai.
"It'll be okay." Sarada consoled Himawari, patting her head gently. "Your brother isn't a weakling. He's sure to be safe."
But even then, she wasn't sure.
The chunin exams were going to start soon, Boruto knew. He didn't know when exactly, but it would be soon. He needed to take part in it. His uncle would without a doubt be taking part in it. So would his mother. Not to mention this was the very time period in which the third Hokage died. But there wasn't anybody he could take part with, and he couldn't even talk without being careful of what he was saying. Else he'd give away information about the future that he shouldn't.
"Man, can't this thing do anything else?" Boruto asked himself, holding the Dekito up to his face. He was lying down on a futon. Naruto was out because of missions again and he was bored to death.
The image of Sarada and Mitsuki flashed into his head. It really would be nice to see them right about now.
Then, before he knew it, the Dekito started lighting up and chakra surged through it, just like it did that time that he used it to time travel. The blue light then became a large ball of white that enveloped him again.
"Ow…"
The voice was familiar. When he opened his eyes, he saw Sarada staring back at him in shock.
"Boruto!" She exclaimed and got off him.
"Sarada? And Mitsuki too!" He gaped, then his eyes moved to the person behind Mitsuki, who was still recovering from the shock of time travel. "…Himawari?"
"Onii-chan! What are you doing here?"
Before Boruto could answer however, Sarada had already observed her surroundings. "Before answering that… where is here? Last I remember, we were all in the park, and we were talking about idiot Boruto and then…" She rambled.
"Wait… I'm still kind of dizzy." Boruto answered. He looked at the Dakito in his hand. This was definitely its work, and he was more than convinced now that it could probably do anything except make burgers appear out of thin air. Just by thinking of his teammates, they appeared, but he couldn't understand why Himawari was there. Was he thinking of her subconsciously? No but, he did remember his father saying something about the Dekito's instability.
"Sarada. I think the best explanation of where 'here' is, would be to look at it." Mitsuki smiled serenely. By the time everybody knew it, he was looking out the window.
Bourto groaned. His boring day seems to have become a pain in no time.
"What? Sarada's missing too?" Naruto asked, his migraine returning.
"She's never late, Naruto. She didn't even give a call to let me know where she'd be." Sakura explained. "Do you think it has something to do with Boruto?"
"It's very likely." Naruto sighed. "Sakura, I can't apologize to you enough. I've called Sasuke back, and if this really is because of Boruto, then I owe him an apology as well."
Sakura pursed her lips. "Naruto… aren't you being a real stranger to me right me right now?" She asked, her voice hurt. "Don't apologize – ask for my help. Aren't we friends? Why are you doing this by yourself?"
Naruto looked at her in surprise. "I'm sorry…" He apologized again. "Hinata told me something like that too. Am I really being distant?"
"Yeah." Sakura huffed. "It's not like you. Now come on, tell me what you're working on, I'll help you the best I can."
Naruto smiled. "Yeah."
"Stupid, stupid, stupid Boruto!" Sarada yelled. "You went back in time? And you brought us back too?"
"That's what I said, isn't it?!" Boruto yelled back.
"Why are you yelling at me? This is your fault!"
"Shut up, okay! I already know. I just thought of you guys and this stupid thing brought all three of you here!"
"Well, let it take us back!" Sarada reached out for the object. Boruto held it out of here reach.
"Wait. Only an Uzumaki can use this thing." Boruto told her. Sarada glared at him, but calmed down.
"Then you do it." Sarada commanded.
"I don't want to."
"Huh?" Sarada would've hit Boruto, but there seemed to be a genuine reason as to why he didn't want to go back. She sat down on the only bed in the room where Himawari was sitting as well. Mitsuki was leaning against the window and smiling.
"Listen, can you guys take part in the chunin exams with me?" Boruto asked.
"Didn't we already?" Sarada answered in annoyance.
"No, I mean the one that's going to take place over here."
Sarada's eyes widened and she gaped.
"It sounds interesting." Mitsuki said. "I'll help you."
"Mitsuki!" Boruto and Sarada chorused, the former in delight and the latter in disbelief.
"What about me, onii-chan?" Himawari asked.
"…I actually don't know why you're here." Boruto frowned. "But for now, you should stay here."
"Yeah, but again. Where is here?" Sarada crossed her arms over her chest.
"This is Naruto's apartment. And by that, I mean the twelve year old Naruto." Boruto grinned and was not disappointed by Sarada's reaction.
"The Nanadaime lived here when he was our age?" She asked, suddenly excited. She looked around, eyes sparkling. "How vintage! So this was his lifestyle. As expected of Hokage-sama."
"Don't get your hopes up." Boruto said, trying to hold back his laughter. "My dad is a lot different than what you know him to be."
"How intriguing." Mitsuki smiled, actually looking interested. "The nanadaime has often confessed himself to have been a 'loser' in his youth. This will be a very educational experience."
"Really?" Sarada asked, eyebrows raised. "Hokage-sama told me the complete opposite."
"Anyway, just wait." Boruto giggled. "You all should hide. He'll be back soon. Himawari, you can hide under the bed. Sarada and Mitsuki will manage."
"Okay!" His little sister answered happily before crawling under the bed she was sitting on. Mitsuki and Sarada both camouflaged themselves immediately.
Boruto couldn't help the evil-ish grin that took up the space on his face. Something fun was finally going to happen.
"I came back as soon as I got your message." Sasuke said, laying his things down at the corner of the room.
"That was still quite fast." Naruto couldn't hide his impressed tone.
"I took help from Aoda."
"Your snake summon, huh?" Naruto chuckled wearily. "I appreciate you coming so quickly, but there's some bad news."
Sasuke blinked, and his wife took it upon herself to explain. "We found out not too long ago that Sarada, Mitsuki and Himawari are also missing."
It was then that Sasuke noticed Hinata sitting on the sofa. She was so quiet over there, that he almost missed her completely. Everyone in the room looked completely tired out. There were papers strewn everywhere, and some empty bento boxes kept on the coffee table. They were definitely not taking this lightly – and how could they?
"We'll get them back, right, Naruto?" Sasuke asked, a rare smile gracing his lips. Naruto looked up at his long-time friend and grinned. This seemed to reassure his will.
"Of course."
"I'm back!" Naruto hollered, coming into the room.
"Welcome back." Boruto tried to look as natural as possible, reading old manga and eating potato chips. "How was today?"
"You ask that every day, but we just had to catch that old lady's cat again, and some other pointless things."
Boruto snickered.
"What is it?" Naruto glared.
"It's just that… I can't believe how hypocritical you are. In the future, you keep on telling me about how each mission 'is a mission' and that we should take each one seriously."
To his credit, Naruto did look sheepish. "Whatever!" He huffed and fell back onto the bed.
A loud squeak rung in the room and Naruto stilled. Boruto got up from his seat on the ground, mouth and eyes wide open, in a clear look of panic.
"…What was that?" Naruto asked.
Suddenly, they heard jutsus being released and the room filled with steam. When Naruto opened his eyes, he saw two people standing next to Boruto and one more trying to come out from under the bed. The blond jumped off his bed in alarm, which allowed the girl to crawl out easily.
"What's going on?"
This time, Boruto looked sheepish. "It's a long story."
I didn't want to make it a long process like last time, where Himawari comes over first and then I'd go through the trouble of making Sarada and Mitsuki arrive. In my opinion, getting it over with quickly is more realistic and less of a beat around the bush.
So there! Everyone has arrived. It's time to get the party started.
Do leave a review to let me know your thoughts. I'm quite interested in what you guys would like to read as well, and if I am too, I will put it in.
Love,
Hina~~
