Chapter Four
~Normal PoV~
I brought Sam back to our motel room, I plopped down on my bed and took out my metallic green journal. "Make yourself at home. Feel free to use my computer." I said as I wrote my thoughts into a formatted script.
"Whoa your set up is intense. How can you get into some of these files?" Sam asked amazed, I just smirked.
"High speed, I keep my computer clean. Judging by your brother's personality I would say Dean slows your computer down with porn." I answered still grinning. Sam gave a small laugh and I decided that is was a nice sound. "That and my sister is pretty good at hacking."
"I'm kind of amazed, you've pegged Dean so well and you've only known him for all of what the majority of two days." Sam said smiling.
"I guess you could say that I read people easily." I retorted closing my journal and straightened to a sitting position. "So how did you and Dean start hunting? You kind of strike me as a normal life candidate." I asked being nosy. I sort of regretted it as Sam clammed up.
"It's kind of complicated, we're following in our father's footsteps. I guess you could call it the family business." Sam answered but I could tell there was more. "I actually got out for a while, tried to live a normal life, went to college." I nodded as he continued, "But our Dad went missing and Dean came to me asking for help. So here we are." Sam finished though it wasn't the complete story, I noticed the same dark cloud of memories flood over his eyes.
"You know what this room is making me crazy." I said standing from the bed and searching through my sister's things.
"We've only been here like five minutes." Sam laughed.
"I don't really like small spaces." I retorted as I found what I was looking for. "Come on let's go for a ride." I smirked like a Cheshire cat.
"You know you are a very odd person? But not that it's a bad thing." Sam stated through rethought his words. Not trying to be insulting.
"Yeah I know, but that's just who I am. So you coming or not?" I asked quirking an eyebrow at Sam. Sam smiled and nodded. So we got back in my 'Stang and headed off to the interstate.
"So uh where are we going?" he asked.
"Well that would ruin the surprise." I grinned accelerating well past the speed limit and taking the next exit that lead to an easy storage. Sam gave me a questioning look as we pulled up to a storage locker. "My sister and I always rent a locker when we're on a case. Keeps things less suspicious than carrying all of our gear." I stated pulling out the key that I had puled out of my sister's luggage.
"How much gear do you guys carry with you? I mean we fit everything in the Impala." Sam asked as I pulled up the locker gate revealing four tool boxes and my other baby, my neon green Kawasaki Ninja.
"I race circuit on the side, it's how I make my money. We keep out more basic hunting gear in the back of my Mustang, but we do bring the occasional odd ball gear with us. You never know when you'll need something random." I answered starting up my baby.
"Wow, I guess that's better than credit card fraud, but it's amazing that you race." Sam said stuttering over his words again. I gave Sam a smile to reassure him.
"Come on." I tossed Sam a spare helmet. He hesitated for a moment before he climbed on behind me, after making sure everything was locked up properly we raced off back towards Lake Manitoc. "You might want to hold on tight." I shouted over the wind as I sped faster through town. I felt Sam wrap his arms around my waist and I had to admit I slightly liked it.
We had eventually made it just neat the Carlton cottage , but the sight wasn't a good one. I slowed to a stop on the side of the road. There were police cars and an ambulance, but worse there was a coroner's van.
One of the Sheriff's Deputies came to move us along and I decided to use my innocent act to get some information. "I'm sorry sir, we don't mean to gawk but I used to be a close family friend. What happened?" I asked with a childlike charm and a look of concern. The Deputy paused to think about it but eventually caved at my puppy eyes.
"I guess the grief got to Will, he drowned himself in the sink." still acting the part I let a small gasp escape and feigned a small tear. "I'm sorry Miss." I nodded and kicked my bike into gear and sped off to recollect my Mustang and lock my motorcycle away.
Sam called Dean to have them meet us back at the motel.
"You know that was some really good acting." Sam complimented as we drove back to the motel.
"Thanks, I tend to play the innocence card. I'm not exactly believable when I impersonate a FBI Agent, I look to young." I explained.
"I was wondering about that, no offense." Sam said a bit awkwardly.
"Iz usually has to run those scenario's solo." I turned into the motel parking lot. Sam nodded as we parked and made it back into Iz and my motel room. I instantly found my laptop and started researching more.
Looking into the lakes history a little more was a waste of time. I knew it was connected, I just didn't know how. Then a thought struck me, what if it was someone who drowned but no one knew? I started looking into missing persons reports.
I was about to voice my opinion when my sister and Dean walked into the room. I noticed Dean was holding a drawing.
"Hey brain, what do you got?" Iz asked taking a seat beside me trying to sneak a peek at my screen.
"Will Carlton drowned in the kitchen sink." Sam answered as I clicked on another useless report.
"So whatever is in the lake knows the lake is draining and that it's running out of time to get its revenge." Dean stated.
"It's not an it, it's the spirit of someone." I finally spoke up.
"Come again?" Dean asked clearly confused as to what I might have found out.
"The drowning's are connected, they're not random. Lucas' father, he was Bill Carlton's godson. It got me thinking, someone drowned in that lake and no one knew." I answered taking another glance at the drawing in Dean's hand. "What's that?"
Dean looked down at it before passing it to me, "Lucas drew it."
I took a moment to look at it and take in the picture of a house. It looked really familiar. "Iz, isn't this Carlton's home?" I asked passing the picture to my sister.
"You're right." my sister agreed with me, "I think we need to visit Carlton and Lucas again."
"Tomorrow why don't Sam and I go talk to Lucas and you two go see Carlton?" Dean strategized.
"No offense but maybe we can mix it up? I know Lucas is opening up to you Dean but I'd like to see him." I requested, "I promise I won't argue or do anything to piss you off." I added knowing we pretty much hate each other.
"Okay, the kid is with me, Sammy let's go, we are getting up early." Isabel saw the boys out before turning her attention on me.
"That was very big of you, whats troubling you?" my sister asked taking her seat beside me again.
" I have this weird feeling about this case, it's getting to me that we haven't solved it yet." I answered with a sigh.
"Don't stress yourself out, you'll make yourself sick. Besides with the four of us working on this it's as good as solved." Isabel said messing with my hair. "Now come on, I'm tired let's get some sleep."
