Warm liquid streamed passed Jayfeather's paws. He smelled the fluid and realized it was cat blood. the blood flowed as fast as a river and he was standing right in the middle of it. a long line of big lumps came into his view. They were floating down the river of blood each one twirling in the currents. He walked up to the one closest to him. He realized that it was a dead cat. He couldn't see its face so he carefully flipped it over to reveal the horrified face of his mother, Leafpool. He had very little love for his mother but he still felt a small tear trickle down his cheek. As soon as he let go of her she floated down the river. He approached another body. This body was face-up so it revealed the face of the Riverclan medicine cat, Mothwing. He started to walk away from the carcass when he heard a gurgle coming from the direction of her body. He looked over to see her flank moving up and down ever so slightly. "Mothwing?" Jayfeather asked. "Life and death is in your paws, Jayfeather. You must be the one to choose." Mothwing whispered. "That omen is from star clan how do you know about it?" Jayfeather questioned. "When everything changes around you, you have to adapt" she stated flatly. "What caused all this death?" Jayfeather said as he looked at the many bodies that floated by. "You." She answered. She groaned and her body quivered then she went incredibly still. Her body joined the others and floated down the river. The vision dissolved into blackness but left the discusting stench of death in his nose. "Jayfeather!" he heard a small cat whisper. He sniffed the air and realized that the cat that was trying to wake him was Moonkit. He stood up and shook, he was almost trying to shake away the horrible dream he had just had. "Jayfeather, my mother is crying again. She is refusing to eat anything." Moonkit mewed worriedly. "Okay." jayfeather grunted. Ever since the death of Amberkit a moon ago she has refused to eat and has had panic attacks. He went to his herb store and grabbed some chamomile. He followed Moonkit to the nursery where fern cloud lay weeping in her nest. "Mother! Jayfeather has come to help you." Moonkit mewed softly. "I don't need help!" Ferncloud hissed. He shoved the chamomile up to her nest. "Eat this." Jayfeather ordered her. She was about to protest but Jayfeather sent her a menacing glare, which made her gobble it up. "Moonkit come with me to my den let's leave your mother in peace." Jayfeather ordered. Moonkit trotted along side him as he made his way to his den. "What are we going to do?" She asked cheerily. "Even though you are not a medicine cat I am going to show you herbs and what they are used for." Jayfeather explained. "Okay." she said less excitedly. Once they reached his herb store he grabbed some Marigold. "This is-" Jayfeather started to say. "Marigold. It helps stop infection." Moonkit blurted. "How did you know that did another cat tell you?" Jayfeather asked. "No cat told me I just sort of knew. I know what everything is and what is does in your whole herb store. I don't know how but I do." She explained. She sounded honest but Jayfeather wanted to make sure. He pointed to one herb after another each one she know. "Yarrow! Juniper! Garlic!" she yowled. Jayfeather went through all of herbs but she knew all of them. Jayfeather grew very weary of her knowledge. "She knows too much about medicine to be a warrior." Jayfeather thought to himself. "Moonkit." Jayfeather said. "Yes?" Moonkit mewed. "When you are six moons old..." Jayfeather started. "Yes?" she said. "Would you like to be my medicine cat apprentice?" Jayfeather mewed.
