Chapter III

–Pack Dad–

Monday, 10 September 2012

SS's POV

"Deaton!" Derek shouted as he carried Erica's body inside the Animal Clinic.

"What happened?" Deaton asked, opening the door and letting them into the back.

"There's an Alpha Pack on Beacon Hills." Derek replied. "One of them is at the school… and got into a fight with Edward. Erica stepped in."

Stiles gasped at seeing her arm bleeding black.

"Is that… supposed to happen?"

"No." Deaton argued. "I need Potter's healings expertise."

"I'll get him." Cora put in and turned, ready to run.

"Call your uncle instead." Deaton stopped her.

"Thought you said you wanted Potter. Not Peter." Stiles retorted.

"They're having lunch."

Teddy actually snorted as Stiles and the others tensed. Scott and Derek shared looks and Stiles huffed.

"Oh. For the love of god." He grabbed Derek's phone and dialled Peter's number. {Peter! It's Stiles. Get your ass back here at the Animal Clinic.}

{Stiles, if you ask so nicely…}

{And bring the Witch with you. Deaton wants his hocus pocus.}

{Deaton's asking for you.} he heard Peter tell Potter and then the phone being passed.

{Stilinski.}

{Werewolf twins that can turn into one Alpha. They hurt Erica. She's bleeding black.}

{Tell your Druid Master to use avocado on her skin.}

{Master?} Stiles asked puzzled.

{Don't make yourself stupid, Stilinski. I know perfectly you are Deaton's Druid apprentice.}

With that Potter hang up.

"So?" Deaton asked.

"He said to put avocado on the skin?"

Deaton grabbed his wallet and passed Cora.

"Buy me some avocado quick."

Cora run out, as Stiles returned the phone to Derek.

"It has a lock, you know?" Derek put in with one of his known raised eyebrows.

"I know everyone's pins, Sourwolf." Stiles argued. "Why does the Witch think I'm your apprentice?" he added towards Deaton.

"Mountain Ash." Deaton replied as Cora appeared. He cut out the peel and then smashed the avocado, before starting to use it like a cream on Erica's arm. "Weren't your hair blue?"

Stiles turned, as well as the wolves, towards Teddy only to see his hair white.

"Shit. He is losing control." Cora hissed as Teddy's eyes turn yellow. "Derek, I have to go calm him down."

"Boyd, Isaac, take both Cora and Teddy to the reprise. Keep an eye out on them." Derek ordered. "If needed, call me."

The three nodded and left with the new wolf. The front door rang and Potter approached with a small bag in hand, that he set on the other table.

"Erica, can you hear me?"

"Yes…" Erica managed to gasp out throughout the pain.

"Good, you can still speak."

Stiles frowned, wondering what the Witch meant with the still. Potter put his entirely arm inside the bag, which left even Deaton gaping, and took a balm out that he gave Deaton, who was quick to use on Erica.

"What can we do?" Derek asked and Stiles noticed that Peter had arrived his nephew's side. Damn, someone was well-dressed today…

"Hold her." Potter replied as he took another flask, that he made Erica drink. "She'll scream and fight."

Scott, Derek and Peter moved forward holding the girl to the table.

"Not you, Alpha." Potter argued. "You need to activate her human side and to take as much of the blackness out as you can. Where's Vernon?"

"Teddy, freaked out at seeing her like this." Stiles put in as he traded with Derek.

"He turned?" Stiles nodded. "You three; force but not too much. You don't want to kill her… and yes that's for you, Peter!"

For everyone's disgust Peter actually winked back at Potter.

–BHA–

HJP's POV

Harry nodded at Derek and once he started, Harry started letting his magic surround the girl. When, finally, the blackness stopped, Deaton stepped in and Peter took hold of Harry as he felt his legs gave in.

"It was too soon." He hissed.

"I'm fine."

"Why was it too soon?" Scott asked.

"The reason I was at the school was because someone at the school attacked Potter." Derek explained, leaning against the wall.

"Are you telling me that the Witch wasn't the one to provoke the animal suicide?"

"No, Stilinski. But whoever did feels threatened by me and attacked me."

"Another Witch?"

"A Darach. A dark Druid." Harry argued. "And last time I checked… I'm. A. Male!"

Stilinski raised an eyebrow, while internally he was cringing at the shriek.

"It's Warlock, Stiles." Peter amended.

"And which side are Warlocks?"

"They're neutrals until provoked." Peter retorted in a threatening tone.

Harry glanced at Erica as she started to regain some colour.

"I need to go Alpha on Teddy." He forced his legs to give a step, then another.

"You are a human."

Harry turned towards Stilinski only for him to lose his footing. Peter grabbed him at once before he fell on his face. Harry could hear him whisper on Harry's ear about hanger. Which almost made him smile… almost. He had other things in mind right now.

"Are you for real?" he glanced at Deaton from Peter's arms. "You haven't at the least taught him about human alphas?"

"Stiles is not my apprentice."

"Then he is whose apprentice?"

"He isn't a Druid."

"So… he is the Pack Dad?" Harry wondered, which made the wolves turn deep red.

"He's a minor!" Derek snarled.

"Hey… I won't judge." Harry retorted. "Everyone has their quirks."

"What's a Pack Dad?" Stilinski asked.

"The Alpha's Mate." Peter replied. "And no. He is Scott's pack. Scott was turned by me, but doesn't belong to the Hale Pack."

"Why not?"

"I don't want to."

"No wonder I found Erica and Vernon running away." He grumbled and glared at Derek. "You so need a Pack Mum, or Dad, to keep your pack together."

"Why is that?" Scott wondered.

"The Pack Mum/Dad keeps the pack happy. While it's the Alpha's job to protect them." Peter explained. "The Pack Mum/Dad can't be the Emissary though."

"Why not?" Erica asked, sitting down on the table.

"The Emissary's job is dangerous." Deaton put in. "A Pack Mum/Dad is protected by the whole pack instinctively."

Stilinski nodded, and his eyes fell on Harry whose eyes were closing by instinct.

"Mr Potter?"

"I'm fine."

"When was the last time you used this much power?" Deaton retorted.

"Since I left England… 14 years ago."

"Teddy's 14."

"50 points to Stilinski for stating the obvious!"

Stilinski blushed at that. Harry grabbed his bag and took out a pepper up potion. His ears started fume by the time he could move. He turned around on the spot, apparating away.

PH's POV

"Did he just… transport?"

"That's so cool!"

Peter tuned down the teenager's excitement and looked at Derek who was looking right back. He raised an eyebrow.

"Leave Potter alone." Derek ordered.

"Or what?" Peter wondered, amused at his nephew's attempt at ordering him.

"Potter saved Cora, Boyd and Erica. Pack speaking; I owe him one. Not to mention that he has been hurt before. I won't have my own uncle messing with a Warlock!"

"Potter can take care of himself." Peter retorted and turned to leave the Animal Clinic.

A howl stopped him, he turned towards see an alphed out Derek.

"That's an order, Peter! Leave Potter alone!"

Peter gasped as he felt the order in all of his being. His eyes flashed blue glaring at Derek.

"Harry's right. You need a Pack Mum!"

Peter didn't understand why his wolf was so mad, but it was furious!

HJP's POV

"What's a Pack Mum?"

Harry looked up from his potions towards Stilinski.

"Don't you have classes?"

"Just finished."

Harry nodded, returning to the ingredients he was cutting.

"Why don't you ask the Alpha?" He wondered.

"The Sourwolf?" Stilinski asked copying Derek's facial expression, which made Harry's lips quirk up amused.

"Peter then?"

"Since Derek went all Alpha on him that he ignores us for the most part."

Harry nodded.

"I'm not an expert." Stilinski nodded. "There's a certain requirement for a Pack Parent. She/he need to be protective, caring, look out for the best of whole pack. How to explain…? The Alpha 'works', the Pack Mum cooks and care for the cubs." Stilinski nodded. "Not that she can't 'work' but…"

"I got it."

"Good, because I'm terrible at explaining myself. Just ask my godson who I have to tutor."

"So anyone in the pack with those characteristics…?"

"One in the pack with these characteristics and that is mated to the Alpha."

"Mated?"

"Knotted."

"I knew it!" Harry raised an eyebrow at the teen. "Scott said he had no knot. I knew he was lying."

Harry smiled amused.

"One can only knot one and it's for life. No death do us apart… for the wolf that is."

"That sucks."

"I know. Wolves are… pulled to one person. They can date a million. But that one is like a drug. And after that one, no other can ever compare."

"That sucks. How do they know for certain that it's that person?"

"They knot." Harry put in as he finished the potion and left it on the fire.

Stilinski's eyes grew.

"So… if they don't knot on the first try…" Harry nodded. "So Scott and Allison?"

"Afraid not."

"Poor Scotty."

Harry set a flask on the desk and started to fill it with the new ingredients he'd recently acquired.

"Life isn't fair."

"Speaking of that… you're not sad that Peter…?"

"Peter's a big man. Sure, he made me laugh. But if he decided not to speak with me any longer, I'm not going to whine about it." Harry shrugged.

Stilinski started to fidget, which made Harry look up with a raised eyebrow. What was the teen, that was normally so transparent, hiding?

"Well… that's the thing… the reason Derek alphad out on Peter… was to make him stop speaking to you, man."

Harry massaged his eyebrows already feeling the headache coming. Bloody werewolves.

"Do you have Alpha's number?" Stilinski nodded. "Call him and give me the telephone."

"Cellphone." Stilinski offered, before quickly putting Derek on the line.

Harry waited with the mobile phone on his ear as the call rang. Finally, Derek answered.

"What is it, Stiles?"

"You are the stupidiest, moroniest, idioticiest, foolishiest – and a lot other names that I can't even fandom to remember right nor from how furious I am – Alpha I ever met! I'm 32-year-old! I'm old enough to take care of myself. If I wanted a real Alpha I'd go to the blind werewolf that lives at the Witch Hunter's building! Now, go to your uncle… and get me my bloody friend back!"

Harry returned the telephone to Stilinski who was left gaping at him.

"Wh… what was that?"

"And that is how the Alpha's Mate supposedly speaks to him." Harry explained.

Gulping, Stilinski took the mobile phone to his ear.

"You still there? Yeah, I told him. I said you shouldn't have done that. Geez, I'd never seen your uncle so happy before in his life! Yes, me and Scott don't trust or like him either. But, hey, you heard Potter. Not to mention he is strong enough to kick Peter's ass."

Stilinski glared at the phone.

"Did he hang up on you?"

"Not so surprising. I'm just human." Stilinski shrugged.

Harry frowned, feeling that the other really hated that fact.

"Just human? Did you miss the part where the Pack Mum/Dad are normally humans?"

Stiles looked back wide-eyed.

"Really?"

"Who else can keep a calm mind during a full moon? You have no idea how much I wish to be you."

Stilinski smiled embarrassed.

'I heard he killed his wife in her sleep.' – 'I heard he poisoned his wife.' – 'Isn't that the Sheriff's kid? The Witch must be about to kill him.' – 'I know, right?'

Arms surrounded him. Harry opened his eyes to see Peter.

"What is it?" Harry shook his head. "Tell me!"

"I can't… I can't turn it off!" he had looked too much into Stilinski…

The three glanced out the windows where – facing the Apothecary shop was a coffee shop.

"Are they badmouthing you?"

"Talking about how I killed my wife… who I'll kill next."

Peter growled and released Harry, leaving the Apothecary shop.

"I have a bad feeling about this." Stilinski whispered.

"Why so?"

"Peter is strangely protective of you… and those humans were picking on you…"

"If it helps in any way… I'm also oddly protective of him."

That did the did, making Stilinski snort. Harry half-smiled truthfully and glanced out again, to see Peter return.

"Stiles?"

"Yes."

"How fast are the police at a threaten of bomb?"

"Pretty fast." Peter gave him a pointed look and Stilinski immediately picked his phone. {Dad! There's a bomb on the café facing the Apothecary shop… doesn't matter how I know!}

"A bomb? Seriously?" Harry asked the werewolf who approached, siting by his side on the counter.

"If I wolfed out and killed them all… would you consider that romantic?"

"We're not in the medieval time any longer." Harry retorted.

"Hence why bomb." Perter argued with a wink.

"Why so?" Harry wondered while he felt a smile actually appearing on the corners of his lips out of his control.

"Bomb destroys café. No more unwanted visitors."

Harry snorted as the police cars sirens sounded. Not long later the Sheriff entered the Apothecary shop.

"Stiles, Potter, Hale."

"Sheriff."

"Do tell me it wasn't a vision that told you there was a bomb."

"No." Harry shook his head.

Before he could continue, the bomb exploded. The whole shop shook, but besides that, nothing.

"You three stay here! That's an order, Stiles!"

The Sheriff left, running.

"Will he believe you if you tell the truth?" Harry wondered.

"Most likely not."

The doorbell rand as Derek entered.

"Heard the explosion."

Harry pointed towards Stilinski.

"Your boyfriend is fine."

Stilinski went deep red as Derek turned on Harry.

"He's not my…"

"Tell that to your wolf. Not to mention. It was not for me that you came running, was it? Nor your uncle who you hate."

"Derek and Stiles? Really?" Peter asked, tilting his head to the side. "Oh well, could've be worse."

"Define worse." Derek growled.

"Jackson."

"First: me and Stiles aren't dating. Second: Jackson? Only Lydia supports him. Third: there was a bomb! Why are you so calm?"

"Remind me again: Who Turned Jackson?" Peter asked with a raised eyebrow.

Harry sighed, massaging his eyebrows. He had no idea who this Jackson was but didn't sound like a good guy and any time he did try to get a view unto the others to look into this guy they were talking about… screams… so many screams…

"Harry?"

"Shut up! Just shut up. I said shut up! I…" a flask appeared on Harry's lips and he swallowed the potion being forced down his mouth. He looked at Peter wide-eyed. "What the hell, Peter?"

"Sleeping draught." Harry's eyes grew in betrayal. "You were provoking an earthquake and making the screams outside to your head louder."

"I'll make you pay for this." He gasped out, before falling forward and Peter caught him.

–BHA–

PH's POV

"You put the bomb." Derek put in as Harry blacked out.

"Too many thoughts aren't good for the Warlock. He feels with magic like we smell and hear. That's why he knows things."

"Harry was feeling the panic attacks?" Stiles wondered.

"Yes."

"No wonder he said he's jealous of my humanity."

"How do you know so much about Warlocks? It's not like there is a chapter on them on your laptop." ("Bestiality." Stiles retorted only to be glared shut by Derek.) Peter raised an eyebrow towards his nephew. "I checked."

"Impressive, you actually learnt how to read… And no: there is no chapter on Warlock. There is on Magic, though."

"I saw." Derek agreed, grudgingly. "Still nothing compared to what he can do."

"That's because what he can do isn't normal even by magic users' standards. Just like a werewolf is at the top if he turns into an actual wolf."

"Like my mother."

"The same happens to magic users. At the bottom are Druids. They have no actual magic but can use magic in objects. The shop is the worst place to fight one, hence why Harry lost against the Darach."

"Druid bottom. Got it. Like omegas." Stiles put in and Peter nodded. "What is a Beta and Alpha in magic then?"

"Beta are the magical students… Teddy and trio are born with magic as well as Harry."

"And Potter's the Alpha?"

"You aren't paying attention, Stiles." Peter retorted. "Harry is above an Alpha."

"He's an equivalent of a fully shifted werewolf." Peter's nephew put in towards Stiles. "Witches don't shift. They have magic."

"And Potter is in full touch with his."

Peter hummed approvingly.

"There's still hope for him after all."

"So… is he an enemy?" Stiles wondered.

"Neither." Peter and Derek growled low on their chests as Chris Argent entered the shop. "Witches, unlike public knowledge, are neutral. They go where the wave takes them. He can be your side right now and the other the next." The hunter put in. "Which is what makes them more dangerous."

"So… like Jack Sparrow." Stiles put in amused.

Derek raised an eyebrow at Stiles, who blushed and lowered his head.

"Captain." Peter retorted, which made the teen's eyes grew and turn towards Peter like he'd been told that Christmas had come early. "Yes. I understood that reference."

A grin debouched on the teenager's face.

"Didn't see you as a geek."

"Who do you think had to take the children to the cine so his sister would've be free for the evening?"

Stiles laughed as Derek made a disgusted face.

"I so didn't want that picture in my brain, Peter!"

"You are old enough to know children don't came from the flowers, Derek."

"Flowers?" Derek asked as Stiles started to laugh. "You know what, I don't even want to know!"

"Tom Thumb and Thumbelina." Chris put in, making Derek raise an eyebrow in return. "I have a daughter." Chris approached and took a look at Harry on Peter's arms. "He is more than just a Wizard, isn't he?"

"Warlock."

"Warlock's are rare…" Chris walked around the shop, looking at the flasks. "Did he take something?"

"Sleeping potion."

Chris looked at the flask he picked and set it down again, picking another.

"You know potions?" Stiles asked surprised.

"Know thy enemy." Chris explained. "I'm actually glad Gerald's at the hospital. Potter would've be hell to fight." The hunter approached the counter again. "Give him this. Will tune down the screams."

Peter picked the flask, looked at the label before he made Harry drink it. Harry started to cough and in no minute he was awake.

"How do you feel?" Peter wondered.

"Like I'm going to kick your ass to next town and back."

Peter grinned.

"Is that the best you can come up with?"

"I know… not my best though." Harry retorted moving away. "Argent."

"Potter. How do you feel?"

"Restrained."

"Add a magic repression to my bill."

Harry looked at the potion flask on the counter and nodded.

"Will do. Came for your ingredients?"

"Came for the bomb. I sell guns for a living. They needed my expertise on the type of bomb."

"Did anyone get hurt?" Stiles wondered.

"No." Chris replied and both Harry and Stiles sighed relieved, which made Peter roll his eyes. "It wasn't a bomb. It was gas that had been left leaking."

Stiles turned towards Peter at once.

"My father will think I did it!" he practically shouted.

"The leak was performed by wolf claws." Chris argued. "Tell him you saw a vulture or something."

Stiles nodded and Harry stood shakily, before striding to the teenager and hugging him. The doorbell rang and the Sheriff entered.

"Stiles…" the officer run towards his son and took Harry's place. "Hey. It's all right. No one got hurt!"

"Mr Argent was just telling us it wasn't a bomb but an incident with a creature." Harry argued to the Sheriff. "It's my fault, really."

"How so?"

"The other day a costumer tried to leave a bomb at Potter's shop." Stiles put in. "When I… I saw the vulture leave the café… I thought…"

"Good thing you did, as you saved a lot of people. Argent, we need to hunt down that animal." Chris nodded. "I want a description of this bomber, Potter."

"I couldn't see her per see… Peter and Derek found me on the floor unconscious."

"And the bomb?"

"Under the counter. I called Chris who came to disarm it." Derek explained.

"It is at my place." Chris put in, not even vacillating at being used as an escape plan. "I'll drop it of at the station later."

"Good. You: car. I'm driving you home." Stiles nodded and left. "Potter…"

"We'll watch over him." Derek put in.

The Sheriff nodded and left.

"Bomb?" Chris retorted turning towards the wolves.

"Darach." Harry put in. "You try to fight a Darach in this shop."

"There is a Darach in Beacon Hills?" Harry nodded. "As if werewolves weren't enough trouble as it is…" he groaned turning to leave.

"At least I'm not a Witch Hunter!" Harry retorted.

Chris turned and looked back.

"I don't hunt Witches."

"No, your kind just burns them."

"I'm not a hunter anymore."

"And I'm not known for being neutral."

"Threatening me?"

"My children have joined the Hale's pack. Whatever is going to happen in the near war that is coming; I'm taking the Hale's side."

"War?"

"The Darach might have started with me, but there will be lots more deaths." Harry shrugged. "Not to mention the Alpha Pack living at your building."

"Alpha Pack?"

"All of them are alphas." Derek put in.

"Why are they here?"

"They want a new member… and I believe that the Darach wants to kill them. I didn't had time to look into her. Was more worried about not getting killed."

Chris frowned in thought.

"I'll pass tomorrow to pick my shopping." Harry nodded. "We'll discuss this war then."

"Didn't you say you had retired?" Derek questioned.

"Yes. I won't be a hunter. That won't stop me from joining on this."

Chris left and Harry's legs vacillated. Peter was by his side on an instant, only to feel the pain flowing into him.

"If you were in this much pain, why did you get up?"

"Stilinski needed a fatherly hug… since his Mate refused to do so."

Derek approached and pulled Harry from Peter's arms.

"I'll drive him home."

Peter nodded, locking the door of the shop after them. Derek sat Harry on his Camaro and drove away. Peter entered his Audi and drove to the elementary school. Good thing his own name was the one on the school to pick the trio. No one but Harry and Peter could fetch them. Peter wondered if Harry would've flip out when he did found out that Peter had signed his own name so to give his address so the school would've accept the children…

"Peter!" Lilu run from her teacher towards Peter, who picked her up. "Came to get us?"

"Yes."

"Sir?" The teacher inquired.

"Peter Hale. I have authorization to pick the Potter trio."

The man nodded.

"I'll go call Albus and James then."

"Gift?" Lilu pleaded with puppy eyes.

"A flower again?" Peter wondered.

"YES!" the girl claimed ecstatically and Peter nodded. "Love you, Peter."
