So, the new chapter...As I have mentioned before, it is not at all likely that I shall continue this story. My apologies...And thank you to everyone who has read this Fanfiction.
As soon as her claws raked the ground, Kitty hastily glanced up.
And there, above her, loomed a huge, black shape that blotted out the sun. The eclipsed light formed a golden, halo-like border that fringed the margins of the creature. To Kitty, though, it seemed anything but angelic. She shrank back, feeling very small.
The cat-or was it a lioness? - sat back from the raven it had been observing.
Kitty, however, did not have time to assess the animal- in fact, she didn't even have time to act when a hissing noise sounded to her left. Without warning, Kitty felt a pair of fangs sink into her wing. She imagined the venom dripping into her veins, poisoning her, slowly but effectively killing her…Then she shook her mind free of the spell and lunged, forcing her essence into the form of a panther as she did so. She saw the boa fall away, forked tongue flicking in and out of its mouth. Then she had tightened her muscles and pounced, landing on top of the reptile. In defense, it let loose a venomous hiss and wrapped itself around her sleek, black body, tightening its coils…Kitty felt her essence wan and weaken; her newfound vitality seemed to slip away in the grip of the serpent…
What a shame. It's only my first summoning….
The pressure around her suddenly weakened. She heard a muffled thump, then the spirit in the snake's form rolled away into the grass.
"That was terrible, Kitty. Could you not have done any better? You may well be dead, if it were not for me."
Glancing at the direction of the voice, she caught sight of a lioness sitting nearby. Its black eyes held a mischievous glint- a familiar glint...
Bartimaeus?
