Just one month after I became a Guardian, something unexpected happened. I was just walking around the Burgess pond, when I came upon a covered hole. I didn't know it was there, so I kept walking with Nova by my side, and Hope in the pond. The next thing I know, I'm falling into a deep, dark hole. I landed on my feet, and started inspecting the place. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, came this big hand made of black sand. It grabbed me and I immediately recognized the sand. "Pitch," I said, truthfully, "I haven't come to cause you harm."
"Then, why are you here, Guardian?" a voice from the shadows said, spitting acid.
"I just fell," I explained, "I was walking around, and didn't see the hole, and now I'm here, talking to you." Pitch stepped out of the shadows, his golden eyes looking into mine, searching for something. His eyes aren't creepy, they're gorgeous, I thought to myself. I caught myself staring, so I looked at the ground, blushing intensly.
"You are afraid of me," Pitch stated, as if it were just proven.
"No, I'm not," I said, shaking my head.
"Then, why won't you look at me?" Pitch asked. Because you are creepily gorgeous, I thought to myself. "I'm fear itself! And you claim you aren't scared!"
"I'm not," I sais, looking up at him, staring into his eyes in wonder. How in the world could such a creepy person have such gor- Focus, Autumn!
"Autumn! Are you okay?" Nova asked me, concerned for me.
"I'm fine!" I called up, "Just keep Jack away from this hole!"
"Okay!" Nova yelled, before running off to find the winter spirit.
"If you don't want all the Guardians here, Pitch, I suggest you let me go before Jack finds I'm missing," I said, sadly, kind of not wanting to go.
"Fine!" he snapped, clearly not wanting to let me go. He let go of me, reluctantly. He left me alone, but I could tell he was watching from the shadows. I used my powers to summon an owl. The leaves formed the shape, then flew off, leaving an owl perched on a cage above me.
"What's your name?" I asked her.
"I'm Saige," the owl said.
"Saige," I said, happily, "What a beautiful name. Will you fly me up to the surface?"
"I will," Saige responded. I got on her back, and she flapped her wings. When we got up to the surface, I slid off her back.
"Thanks for the help, and if you want to stay with us, you can," I said, gesturing to my tribe. Saige nodded happily. I walked up to the edge of the lake, "Hope! Nova! We have a new member of the group!" Hope came to the edge of the water, and Nova came running to my side. "The lion is Nova, and the dolphin is Hope. Hope, Nova, this is Saige"
"Happy to have you on board," Nova said, then turned to me, "Jack might have a few scratches."
I gasped, "Nova! I told you not to do that!" Just then I saw Jack limping towards us. "That is more than just a few scratches!" I went over to him, and made him sit down. "Did you twist your ankle? Is it broken?" He started laughing, he just started laughing. "It looks like you hit your head."
"You really live up to your center," Jack said, smiling. He got up and walked around just fine.
I turned to Nova, "You tricked me!" She snikered. "Stop doing pranks!" I yelled, pointing at Jack. "If you don't, my center will be nothing but hatred!" If my center was hatred, Pitch and I cou- Autumn Falls! Get ahold of yourself!
"Oh, come on, Autumn," Jack said, "I was just having some fun." I rolled my eyes.
"And 'fun' includes scaring a seventeen year old to death?" I asked, sarcastically. Jack nodded. "Of course it does." The northern lights caught my eye. "Jack," I said, still staring at the sky, "We have to go." Jack also looked up, his eyes searching the sky.
"Alright," he said, holding onto his staff like he was about to fly, "Let's race." I transported Nova and Hope to the pole, and climbed on Saige. I smiled. "Ready... Set... Go!"
