Marnie's POV:

I couldn't believe just how happy I was to see my last class of the day. However, I was walking to it with a bit of apprehension. There was something going on in the doorway of the room as I walked up.

A cluster of people were crowded around the doorway and in it sat my new friend, Stefan. I could feel my jaw clench with anger as I watched the boys sneer at Stefan. They were like lions on a gazelle, waiting for the weakest moment in which they could attack. "Scoozi me? Jacuzzi?" They said to him, their voices oozing with mockery.

My jaw tightened as I watched them taunt him. Stefan didn't deserve that. Just as I took a step to go defend him a tall blonde figure stepped out to defend him. The boy before him was about the same height as Stefan, however he had an air of authority to him. "Why don't you go sit down, Tyler?" Said boy, his voice cold and unwavering.

Tyler was the one who had been following me all day. He glared at the blonde with a silent hatred, however he backed down. I readjusted my bag and brushed past the small mob scene. Only to take my seat close to the window and a bit further back. I could feel their stares as I removed my sunglasses and placed them in my bag. Stefan nodded to me and sat down next to me. Almost everyone was in the room when three figures came in. Each one of them stood out in their own way, but the one that stood out the most was by far the blonde. Her body language screamed that she was into Stefan, but so was the rest of the girls.

She sat in front of him showing off her delicate frame. I knew that she wouldn't think much of me, after-all I was just a peasant in her point of view. When the bell rang the teacher from earlier rushed in and took a seat in his leather arm chair. "Alright! I'm going to quickly take role and then we will get started."

There was something malicious about the way he said "get started". I wasn't sure I liked it so much. Watch he's probably the world's biggest dick. Said the voice, unamused.

I ignored the voice and just watched keeping an eye on the pretty blonde in front of Stefan. I wonder what her name is... I thought, ruffling my hair with one hand. I curiously watched everyone in the room only to notice that one in particular was watching back. The boy who had been harassing me all day eagerly watched from across the room. It was almost like he was trying to figure me out (which I doubt he would ever be able to fully comprehend who and what I am). "Can anyone tell me what children your age would be doing for fun in the Renaissance period?" Said Mr. Tanner.

No one rose their hand as the words tumbled out of his mouth. Gee, that's so specific! Cried the voice in the back of my head. For once in my life, I agreed with the voice. It all depended on what class you were from, but clearly this idiot had no reconnection of that.

He paced the front of the room like a caged animal. Back and forth he tread smelling the room for his next prey. I crossed my arms over my chest and glared at the man. "Ms. McCullough." He said suddenly staring at a short red-headed girl in the second row. "Perhaps, you can tell me what they would be doing?"

Her mouth fell open as she stared horrified at the teacher. I felt a little bad for her when she finally stuttered, after a long pause, "Uh, football?"

Mr. Tanner scoffed. "Hardly."

Anger flared from deep inside my body. Wow, he is a dick! Cried the voice. I agreed with the voice. And fun fact, football was invented in the Renaissance period. It didn't necessary catch on until the 19th century, but still. This man had no reason or right to laugh in someones face. However, before I could say something the hand next to me rose slowly.

"Um, sir?" Said Stefan in a hushed tone.

I rose an eyebrow as he stood up and took off his glasses for the first time. Dark emerald eyes glared at the teacher as he tried to keep his composure. "I'm sorry to interrupt but the children of the renaissance were taught that with a healthy mind comes a healthy body, so they would play games like badminton and even football. You might want to check your history books before you make judgments."

With that Stefan sat back down in his chair and put his glasses back on. Mr. Tanner said nothing more because the bell rang a second later. Before I could praise Stefan for sticking up for the little red-head, he bolted through the door. Hmm, must be hungry. Said the voice, mockingly. The blonde that had came in with a posse ran after him but I watched as he snubbed her. I understood why he had done it, but that still didn't make it any less cruel. Poor boy was practically starving himself.

The blonde stood there for a moment, the weight of her actions falling down on her like a large stone. Don't get involved. Cried the voice, with a mean edge. "But I have to."

I tapped the girl on the shoulder and smiled warmly as she spun around. A small frown had brought a furrow to her brow as she stared at me. "Don't worry about it, he's just having a bad day."

Her brow furrowed deeper. "How would you know? It's none of your business anyways."

I sighed and nodded. " No, it isn't my business, however a new school is always hard."

I patted her on the shoulder and started to walk away, knowing that her brow would twist into a irritated mass and she would shake her head. I didn't expect that she would speak to me, though. "Hey, what's your name?"

This time my face twisted in confusion. I turned around and stared at her. "It's Marnie."

She smiled bleakly and nodded. "I'm Elena. Thank you for telling me that."

I nodded and smiled. "Anytime."

Damon's POV:

I let my eyes roll back as my teeth withdrew themselves from the woman's neck. She had been scrumptious. "Thank you for a good time." I said, smiling down at her.

I withdrew the handkerchief from my back pocket and dabbed the last of her blood from my lips. That was when I noticed the beater pulling up. The car was a silver four door car, normal as all get out. What drew me in however, was who was driving it.

A black combat boot stepped out onto the side walk and with that a girl dressed like no one else in that whole city. Margrete Hamptine sauntered into the street and into the small bar in which I was sitting. She walked right up to the bar tender and smiled, her sunglasses still shading her eyes. "Good afternoon, I was wondering if Jeremy was here?"

"Oh, are you Marnie?" He asked, surprised.

She smiled and nodded. "Yes, I am. I take it he told you about me?"

The boy nodded, his eyes flickering down to her breast and back up to her masked face. "Wait right here. I'll go get him."

She nodded and sat down at one of the bar stools. Her glasses were on the table in front of her now, her eyes looking around the room and noticing the pool table across the room. I was sitting in the darkness watching her as she took in her surroundings. Jeremy tapped on her shoulder and smiled down at the dark girl. "Marnie! How good to see you!" He said, his eyes drinking her in.

She sat there poised, despite her attire. "And you, Jeremy. I wanted to ask when I should start working. I need a few days to get settled into the new house, though."

"I can do that. What day is it, Tuesday? How 'bout you start Friday? Is that alright?"

Marnie sighed. "That should be fine."

Jeremy licked his lips as he looked her over once more. "Great."

Marnie noticed how he was looking at her though. A small irritated smile cracked over her face as she stared at Jeremy directly in the eye. Something inside her had snapped. "Jeremy." She said, his name dripping from her mouth like venom. "May I remind you of what happened to the last man who undressed me with his eyes? What happened to his face?"

Jeremy's smile dropped from his face as she said that. "You wouldn't." He said, panic stricken.

Marnie stood up from where she sat and sized him up. "Oh, but I would. Don't underestimate me, Jeremy. You might just get burned."

She turned and grabbed her glasses from the bar. Marnie looked up and for the first time made eye contact with me. Something flickered behind her eyes and for a small moment I thought she had sniffed the air like an animal. She left as if nothing had happened, but I was left cold here in the darkness. That was the first time had had ever been disgusted by the dark.

Marnie's POV

The sun was setting by the time I got my room ready. I hadn't unpacked my closet just yet but my bed was made and my books were in the bookcase. I had all of the windows open in the room and the evening breeze was starting to cool down the old house. But not even this was

home to me. Nothing was worse than an empty house to remind you just how pathetic you really are. I could have told you that. Said the voice. "You already do, so why bother."

The voice giggled in the back of my head. I know something you don't. "Oh?"

He's watching, again. He thinks you're beautiful. "Who does?"

Him. He who resides in darkness, who thrives in it. He wants you just like everyone does. "Stop. I've heard enough."

Why don't you ask him? Reach out for him. He is telepathic. "No."

No? The Fox isn't even a bit curious? Curious as to what he looks like? Curious as to what he will do to you? "No. I'm not. I don't care. So, drop it!"

The voice was quiet for awhile. And I finally started to get back into a quiet rhythm of moving boxes filled with old things. You're a party- pooper. "Deal with it."

Alright! Sorry I haven't really had time to work on this. This school year has really been a pain and I haven't had time for anything really. Please read/ review. I hope that you enjoyed it. I hope that there will be more people giving me feedback. Anyways. Good night! ~ELA
