A/N: New Chapter Update! Thanks for the reviews I have been receiving! You guys are the best TTuTT
Sakura walked along the peaceful street to Temari and Gaara's house. It was a bit cloudy, but it didn't seem like it would be raining anytime soon, so she left her umbrella and hurried on her way. She was already late as it is. She woke up on the wrong side of the bed and almost forgot she had to meet up with her group mates. Temari had insisted for them to go to their house (which earned her a death glare from a certain red head), claiming that it would be nice to have some company in such an "awfully large place" for just three teenage siblings.
What that meant, Sakura had no idea. As her mind floated on about what the significant meaning behind her words, she saw a flash of blonde hair she knew all too well who it belonged to.
"Naruto!" she called out.
Naruto turned and grinned when he saw her. He waved back and ran over to where she stood.
"Oh, hey Sakura! Where are you going?" He asked, grinning.
"To Temari and Gaara's house. How about you?"
"I was just going to pick up Hinata."
"For a date?" Sakura asked, eyebrows raised.
Naruto shook his head naively. "What? No. We were just gonna plan over that stupid project Kakashi- sensei made us do."
Sakura frowned. Just when I thought there was progress going o nbetween those two, she sighed to herself.
"Hey, you said that you were going to Gaara's house right?" Naruto asked putting his hands behind his back.
"Uh, yeah. Why?"
"That's near the Hyuuga's Mansion! It's just outside of the neighborhood Why dont we go together!"
"How did you know that?" Sakura tried to remember a time where they might have spoken for each other.
"Cause' we're best buds! Duh!"
Wait. What? Naruto and Gaara as 'best buds'? She must've heard wrong.
Naruto walked ahead, and Sakura hurriedly followed.
"We met when we were 13. He may be a socially awkward weirdo now, but believe it or not, he was *pyschopatic* socially awkward weirdo back in the day," Naruto babbled on.
Back in the day? Tch. What are you? 50? Inner Sakura snorted.
P-psychopath? Sakura flipped out.
"You guys met each other when you were 13?" Sakura asked nervously
"Yep! His father was scouting the area for their new house here. They only stayed for two weeks. But now, they're here to stay for good! Which is totally awesome! Believe it!"
Before Sakura could ask more, Naruto stopped. Sakura looked up and gasp. So this is what Temari meant by "awfully large place". Heck, the main gate was more than half of the Hyuuga's. The thin bars showed massive lawns and the mansion inside looked more like the Buckingham Palace. Sakura then felt under dressed. She would look like some servant if she steps foot in there.
She practically had a heart attack when Naruto rang the buzzer and shouted for 'Gaara's lazy butt to come over here and greet them.' As Sakura thought of bolting off, the gates were already opening and the three siblings already there.
So much for escaping humiliation Inner Sakura snorted.
Naruto suddenly leaped up and hugged Gaara before she could warn him, but to her surprise, Gaara didn't push him off roughly or even give him a death glare. Instead, he actually hugged him back, even though Gaara was obviously uncomfortable and a bit annoyed. Sakura just stared, wide-eyed.
"Wassup Gaara?!" Naruto grinned, and Gaara had to pry him off so he would escape Naruto's hard grip.
"What are you doing here?" Gaara muttered, though not coldly.
"Hehe, I was just on my way to Hinata's and-OHMYGAWD I am late!" Naruto cried in distress. He quickly ran off, shouting a 'see you later'.
Sakura sighed. That was totally rude. She wanted to apologize when she saw the small smile, not a smirk, on Gaara's face. All doubt on Naruto's claim of friendship vanished when she saw that.
Gaara noticed her stare and quickly dropped the smile, replacing it with his usual stoic face.
Sakura felt an arm around her shoulder and cried a small 'eep' when she saw it Kankuro. Temari whacked him in the head and shooed him away, taking Sakura's hand to lead her inside quickly, leaving Sakura no time to notice Gaara flicker a dirty look at Kankuro's way.
"Okay, Sakura, spill!"
"What?" Sakura was every bit confused after Temari led her to the comfort specifically for girls. It looked more of a bath has though, in Sakura's opinion. Suddenly Temari started questioning her for no apparent reason.
"Tell me about Shikamaru! You know simple things like hobbies and if he's dating the Yamanaka girl..."
"Dating the... Temari do you like Shikamaru?"
"W-what? No! It's just that it's hard talking to a guy you barely know," Temari said, trying to hide a blush.
I know what you mean, Sakura thought. "Fine. Well, Shikamaru is really smart. Usually playing chess and stuff to exercise tactics. I may be top in my class, but he's level of intelligence surpasses mine by a mile. He's just too lazy to prove it. From what Naruto would complain to me, Shikamaru loves cloudwatching. And no, he's not dating Ino, 'the Yamanaka Girl'. They're just really close childhood friends."
At the last part, Temari let out a sigh of relief. Sakura looked at her with a smirk.
"Fine, you got me. I really like pineapple head."
Laughing at the all too familiar nickname, Sakura grinned victoriously.
Temari glared at her that pretty much said 'dont you dare tell him about it or you are dead', but it didnt do much in wiping Sakura's grin off her face.
Suddenly, they heard a loud knock on the door. "Hey, Temari! Your boyfriend's here! Come out already!"
Temari flushed an angry red while Sakura giggled softly beside her.
They sat at the living room, flourished with endless satin and velvet and other silks Sakura can't remember at the moment because of how mesmerizing the countless of undoubtly expensive painting that hung on the wall. How can someone even *afford* this. There should be a law against being too rich or something and give it to people less fortunate, like, oh, those deserving fanfiction writers on a certain fanfiction website.
Sakura shook her head. Where did THAT train of thought came from?
Gingerly sitting on the sofa next to Temari, she could feel the expensive furniture comfortingly sink her down into fluff oblivion, unlike her lumpy douche of a sofa in her apartment.
Shikamaru, who looked like he had just woken up 15minutes ago, slumped himself on an arm-chair near Temari. He tried and failed in stiffling a yawn.
Kankuro hurriedly tried to sit beside Sakura, who pleaded to the gods he won't, got held back by Gaara. Kankuro pouted and was about to protest when Gaara beside Sakura, though the pink haired girl noticed him being careful not to make any contact next to her. Gaara gave a look at Kankuro's surprised face, daring his older brother to complain.
Everyone was quiet, staring at Gaara in shock. Except for Shikamaru. It looked like he didn't give a damn. Which was kinda true, though he was curious on why everyone was so surprised.
"What?" Gaara muttered, annoyance seeping in his voice once again. Everyone returned back to what they were doing. Which was nothing. Kankuro slipped out of the room quietly.
"So,, How's your half of the book? Temari? Shikamaru?" Sakura asked gingerly, giving the boy beside her a wary glance. It felt like she was sitting next to a mine field. She was worried he would blow up again and push her off. Again.
"Huh? Oh, uh yeah," Temari said, snapping out of her trance from what her brother did. "We kinda made some progress. I guess."
Shikamaru shook his head. "A little is an understatement. We barely wrote anything. It's just such a drag.. How about you guys?"
Sakura let out a sigh. "We didn't made progress either." She decided not to mention the run-in with Sasuke and bitch of the month.
Leaning in on the comfy chair, Shikamaru closed his eyes in deep thought. 'The only way we can finish this is by spending more time with our partners and get to know each other and what's the most life changing for them. Then we have to compromise and put it all together and stuff. Ugh.. just planning this is tiring."
Temari gave Sakura a surprised and awed look.
Sakura gave her the I told you so look.
"More time..with each other?"
They all turned to Gaara who just spoke, seemingly looking displeased or in some way troubled.
Sakura frowned. Why doesn't he like them to be together? He purposely sat right frikkin' next to her just a few seconds ago! Why did he look upset in spending a few hours a day with her for the rest of the year now?
"Yep," Shikamaru answered back, glancing at Temari, who slightly blushed.
Gaara stayed quiet for a while before standing up and pulling Sakura with him.
"H-hey! What do you think you're doing?"
Gaara stared at her like she just said the most stupid thing ever. "What do you think? We're gonna spend time with each other."
A/N: I dunno but I always think I make Gaara a bit OOC. When I read the last few Chapters, Gaara seemed more Gaara-ish in the first Chapter. :/
I made Naruto the one who first fixed Gaara. I just can't imagine Sakura fixing Gaara herself. He'd be too broken. At least with Naruto, Gaara won't be some psychotic bastard. He'd be a 'socially awkward loner'. Someone who has felt affection of a friend, but not the passion of love. Which is where Sakura walks in. I hope it makes sense! Tell me if you guys would like something be added to the story if you want.
Well, that's it for tonight! (It's 10:12pm here) I'll post the update tomorrow, and I'll make it a really long one with GaaSaku, NejiTen, and NaruHina!
~till the next update
