After being comforted, Tyler and Laya decided to play some video games.
They were playing until Laya's brothers got home. They were carrying bags of grocery. "Hey guys, how did it go while we were gone?" Matt asked them. Laya smiled at him.
"Fine. We have fun playing video games." she told him, letting out the part where Tyler got upset. She knew he wouldn't like it if she told them without his consent. "Though Tyler was less lucky, he kept getting himself hurt both in the game and in real life." she glanced to see Tyler hitting himself with a joystick by accident.
"Yeah, I can see that..." Matt agreed silently, staring at the clumsy jock.
"Aw, damn!" Tyler shouted irritated. "I lost again!"
The siblings couldn't help but snicker at his reaction. "Well anyway, we've brought the dinner." Gary told them, getting their attentions away from Tyler's misfortune. The clumsy jock glanced curiously at him. "What are we having for dinner?" he asked him. Unfortunately, he should have known better than looking away from a video game when it isn't paused yet because the moment he looked away, he lost another life. Tyler was both annoyed and shocked when it happened.
"I hope you like pasta for we're having spaghetti tonight." Matt replied. Tyler grinned by the answer. "Oh man, I love spaghetti." he said happily with a big smile on his face. He glanced at Laya. "Do you think you can teach me to play this game, Laya? This is really hard." Tyler asked her.
She smiled at him. "Of course I'll help you. I can teach you while we're waiting for the dinner." she told him. She taught him what he should do in the game, especially when he is in a certain circumstance, and how he should do it while he listened to her advice. He learned quickly and he got better on the game.
They are now playing with each other until they reached the last level where they have to fight against each other. Neither of them hesitated and they fought hard. One of them are about to win the last round when Gary showed up.
"Guys, the dinner is ready." he informed them. Laya heard him and paused the game.
"What? Already? But I want to know who will win." Tyler was disappointed. He didn't want to wait and see who will win in the game. Laya gave him a comforting smile. "Don't worry, we can find out after the dinner." she told him and patted his shoulder. Tyler went reluctantly with the twins to the kitchen.
"Here you go, kids. Enjoy your dinner." Matt said to them while he gave each of them a plate with spaghetti. They are all sitting by the table. Tyler smiled and licked his lips. While he was disappointed for having to wait until he can play again, he admitted the food looked very good.
"Man, it looks good." he said. He took a fork and picked up the spaghetti with it. He was going to eat it when he accidentally dropped some of it on his shirt. "Oh man!" he got annoyed with himself. He placed the fork down. "I think I'll clean this." he reached after the tissue but by an accident, he knocked down the glass; spilling the water on the table.
The jock gasped and remembered something from his past...
He was ten years old when it happened.
He accidentally spilled the water while he and his father were having dinner. "Oopsie." he said innocently. His father got mad and rose up from the chair. "For God's sake, Tyler! Can't you do anything without spilling something, you stupid boy?!" he scolded him.
Tyler winced at his father's harsh words. He looked sadly at him. "I'm sorry, dad." he apologized to him. He didn't mean to spill the water, it was just an accident.
"Sorry? I'm gonna give you something to be sorry about!" his father yelled and slapped his son across his face. Tyler was shocked by his father's action. Tears formed in his eyes. He left the table and ran immediately to his room.
Tyler stared at the mess before he broke down and started to cry. "I'm sorry, dad. I'm so sorry, dad!" he screamed while the tears ran down his face.
Matt, Gary and Laya got shocked by this scene and looked worriedly at each other. They have no idea why their friend started to cry all of sudden. What he just did isn't a big deal. But maybe it was for him...
Attempting to comfort him, Laya placed her hand on his shoulder. "Tyler, relax. It's okay. We can just clean it up." she told him, trying to calm him down. Tyler stopped crying and slowly looked up at them. He realized what he just did. He broke down in front of them.
How can he explain this to them without having to tell them the whole truth?
"Guys...I'm sorry that I broke down...I guess I overreacted."
"That's okay. We all make mistakes." Laya assured him, giving him a soft and comforting smile. "Remember: nobody is perfect. Just don't forget it."
Tyler smiled weakly at her words. "Thank you, Laya."
After they finished the dinner, Tyler and Laya continued their game. Tyler was close to win but Laya got lucky and managed to get the victory. When they were done, the jock yawned. "Man, I'm tired." he said.
"Yeah, it have gotten late. I think it's time for all of us to go to bed." she said to him. "You may have to take that shirt off. It got quite dirty today."
"Okay." Tyler said. He didn't hesitate to take off his shirt. "I'll tell Matt to wash this. I'm sure he will be elated to wash your shirt." Laya said and grabbed his shirt. Tyler raised an eyebrow, looking confused at her. "What does 'elated' means?" he asked her.
"It means 'happy'." Laya explained.
"Oh..."
She just smiled at him. Although he isn't the brightest person, she still likes him; though she cannot tell him that.
"Goodnight Tyler. Sleep well." she said before she left the living room.
"Okay. Goodnight Laya." Tyler said with a smile. He lay on the couch, pulled the blanket to himself and slowly fall asleep.
A car arrived to the place where Tyler's house is. A man opened the car door and stepped out of it. It was a grown man. He have brown hair, brown eyes and he is quite muscular. He looked like an older version of Tyler. He wore a white shirt, blue tie, long blue pants and a pair of black shoes.
The man walked to the house. He dug the keys out of his pocket and put it in the keyhole. He turned the key and opened the door. "Tyler, I'm home." he said. He tried to make himself sound calm but it isn't easy when he have been so stressed because of his job. He didn't hear any response from his son and he couldn't see him anywhere.
That's odd. He couldn't understand it. He was being informed his son would be home after Total Drama Action ended. But it was obvious that his son isn't around yet.
He decided to call after Chris. He is the host of the show, so he must know something. Every parents have received the phone number to the show when their children had joined the show, so they know how to call him. He waited for five minutes before the phone was answered.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Mr. McLean. This is Carter, the father of Tyler."
"Oh yeah, the jock who sucks at sport. What about him?"
"You did say that the contestants will come home after the show finished, right?"
"Yes, I can confirm that."
"Well, my son isn't home yet. I don't know where he is."
"Are you sure about that? All the contestants are supposed to be home yesterday. Maybe he got stuck in a traffic."
"I doubt a traffic can last for a day." Carter disagreed. "I think I will just go out and look after him." he said before he hang up the phone. Great, now I have to look after him. Can't he even get home without getting lost? he thought angrily.
He left the house. He decided to go and look after his son...
Now you guys have meet Tyler's dad and the drama is going to start.
