Hello all! Here I am with the forth chapter re written! Boy oh boy... what was I thinking back then... o.o Like, the original chapter just made no sense, even before I began editing it... ugh. This one needed complete overhaul.

Chapter 4

Questions without Answers

Mario and Luigi paused, taking in the little Mushroom folks running around, the loud sirens of the ambulance as it pulled out a gurney with someone's body on it, and gagged at the sight of so much blood... or rather, Luigi gagged. Mario went to ask what had happened.

"Hey! Hey! Excuse me!" he tried to call at first. No one would give him the time of day, and Mario got fed up trying to push past little people barely coming up to his knees.

"Ugh, dammit! What the hell is going on around here?!" FINALLY, a young child heard his frustration and pulled on Mario's hand. Mario looked down.

"What?!"

The kid chuckled, seemingly amused by Mario's annoyance, but answered his question anyways. Mario was a little thrown off by the way the kid looked- he felt awkward staring into one green eye and one blue one. 'Who is this kid?'

'Hi Mario! You're Mario, aren't ya?" the small Toad asked. Mario paused and knelt on one knee so he could be at eye level with the smiling boy.

The Toad was a tan completion with a darker brown mushroom top, one blue, one green eye, and an usually wide grin. His little jacket was black with a white stripe going down the edges on each side, and his pants were black as well. He wore brown shoes like any other Toad.

"Y-Yeah... who are you?" Mario asked. The Toad Kid just laughed.

"I have no idea! But I know what's going on out here! The Wario brothers! They're gonna die if they can't save them!" He seemed too happy about the news he gave, and laughed harder when horror crossed Mario's face. He quickly stood up and, without so much as a thank you, ran past the kid.

"You better hurry, Mario! Better hurry!" the kid's shrill shriek rang in his ears.

As for Luigi, who had managed to gather some information from a nearby resident who was hiding in her store, he was already at Toad Town Medical Center, and waited in the rather busy waiting room for his brother. He looked up in relief when he saw the familiar hat running towards him.

"Mario! What happened?!"

"N-Ne... Never mind... Wario... what... happened...?" he panted. Luigi looked down the busy operating corridor, worried.

"I heard Wario and Waluigi got brought here. They were attacked by something. No one knows what caused it, and no one found anything that made the wounds on Waluigi's legs and arms."

Mario, after getting all his breath back at last, straightened upright and looked around. "Must've been bad if every news Toad is out here. Peach and Daisy is gonna be here soon, I bet..."

His speaking stopped when he noticed Luigi shaking in his sneakers. He seemed as if he was lost in his own thoughts and Mario placed a hand on his shoulder. Luigi jumped up.

"Hey, calm down. You think that damn ghost did this." he stated. Luigi nodded and looked down at the ground.

"I-I can't help it... I read the note. E. Gadd... he said King Boo escaped. And he's not alone." Luigi finished quietly. Mario gasped.

"A-Are you sure? What did he say?! Better yet, hot the hell did he escape again?!" Mario asked rather angrily, one after another. Luigi shook his head.

"I...I don't remember it word for word. But he mentioned that King Boo escaped and created a new castle just like before. But there was something else, too. He said a ghost... person, both, I don't know, but his name is Kenta and he is working with King Boo."

"Who is Kenta?" Mario wondered. 'Would Peach or Daisy know? I doubt it...'

"No idea. He wanted us to meet him tomorrow. He also said something else that I'm scared about now..."

Luigi sat down. "He said Wario and Waluigi were in danger... I think King Boo wants revenge on me, but no one knows why he's going after those two. I don't get it..."

Mario sat next to him. Now he realized what got his brother so upset the previous night. "How are they holding up in there?" he asked softly.

"Wario's okay. He just got banged up but they patched him good as new. After two nights or something he's good to go. Waluigi... he had to go into surgery to fix his busted leg and his arm has this nasty looking bruise. They also said he had a type of poison in his system... they're trying to find an antidote but I'm worried. He's barely hanging on right now..."

Luigi clearly looked distressed, and there wasn't much either one could do except wait. "Where are they?"

Luigi pointed down a hall behind them. "Down there somewhere. I didn't ask for their room numbers yet. They sedated both of them. I never want to hear Waluigi scream like that again, Mario... he scared me to death..." he whispered. Mario nodded and wrapped an arm about him, pulling him close as he survey the zoo of a waiting room they were sitting in.

'Even if Waluigi's a total jerk... he doesn't deserve to be going though pain like that! But what could King Boo want with those two? He's never met them before! And who the hell is this Kenta being?!'

"Luigi, come on." Mario suddenly said, pulling him up and tugging him towards the reception desk.

"W-where are we going, Mario?" Mario had that look that he would get whenever he was determined to get to the bottom of something, and Luigi figured this was no exception.

"We're going to see those two. We need to find out what happened and the best way to do it? Get answers straight from the horse's mouth."

And edit complete! Like I had originally planned, this chapter was supposed to be short, but that never happened. The orginal one didn't even make sense to what I was trying to write... yeah, this one is my least favorite overhaul.

But now more of you fellow readers meet my OC Kenta! I can't wait to see where this goes... now I'm excited!
