Perhaps it was because they were his best friends, that they chose to remain silent after their shocked revelation, but James was sure that it was due to their absolute shock over the situation. "You blocks still with me?"
"..." Remus couldn't form words to his surprise, his lips parted as the only way to continue breathing without fully forgetting the act.
Sirius on the other hand was, while shocked, fully capable of forming coherent words. "How in the name of Merlin, did Severus manage to shack up with Lily!?"
James glared at Sirius who held his hands up defensively.
Remus shook his head and cleared his mind of his shock, "as crude wording as that may have been, I too am confused to the coming of this situation. None of us ever believed Lily to be the type...to..." he tilted his head and sighed, "How are you holding up, James. It can't be easy."
"It isn't...I got mad at her, really upset the other day. I was trying to keep myself from speaking about how I felt so not to hurt her, but I couldn't stop myself from letting out my aggravation. I'm such a fool, barmy for thinking that she had thrown away her feelings for Snivels."
Remus smiled sadly, "she's a good girl, James; she just had a bad lapse in judgment."
Sirius laughed, "you mean she abandoned judgment."
"...yeah...abandoned..." James chuckled, "it'll be good for a laugh later, I'm sure. But right now, I'm trying to find a way to keep myself from causing a rift between me and Lily."
Remus took a moment before smiling, "when the baby is born, Sirius and I can help you out when it comes to watching the baby. If for a week or so, we can help out when needed, and you can have some time to mend the space that's grown between you and Lily."
James looked at Remus in surprise, "that sounds great...but..."
Sirius rolled his eyes, "but its Lily and Snivel's choice."
James nodded, "...I don't really know how either would react to that idea. It's still Lily's child, even if it's Snape's, but then...Snape is rather distraught at the idea of the child growing up not knowing he's the father. He...wants the child...for I'm sure, the obvious reason."
Remus nodded, "part of Lily..."
"Yeah..."
The tree were left to think over their options, no one came to any other ideas in concerns to Lily, James or the unborn child, and finally, they parted ways without any changes to the original plan.
"I'll talk it over with Lily, and mention the idea to Snape...but no promises. Thanks to both of you though, for generally just being there for me."
"James, you're our best mate...think nothing of it." Sirius stated with a Sirius look on his face.
Remus gave a nod of his own, "Our bond is stronger than that of blood, James."
James watched wistfully as the two apparated away back to their homes. Really, time could only tell how things would turn out from this point on, but it helped to know that Remus and Sirius were standing with him in this whole situation.

James stared anxiously at the door in front of him. Currently at Spinners End, under his invisibility cloak, awaiting the owner of the small apartment to open up the door. When he did, James snuck passed the man before him and shut the door himself before letting his cloak fall from his body. "Lily went into labor! The...the doctor said that she lost a lot of blood prior, and is being given Blood-Replenishing Potions to help her through the delivery!"
Severus was quick to get over the sudden arrival of James, "at St. Mungos?"
James nodded, "she's having the baby...your baby...go."
He didn't need to be told twice. Apparating to the hospital in haste with James following after.
It had taken nearly seven months of visiting and talking things over with James, though, even Lily wasn't fully aware of the meetings and conversations that took place between James and Severus. Finally, they had come to terms with the situation. James accepting the mistake Lily had made, and the child she would give birth to, fully acknowledging Severus as the father to her first born without animosity, though trust he still felt unsure about. Then Severus had come to terms being the father to Lily's first born, despite the fact that James would still be the only one to ever have her heart fully, and she would never stray from the Lion's side again. He would love and care for his child as often as he could, while they watched out for the baby, and James and Lily would carry on with their own life, and cherish their own love.
The two stood in the delivery room, with James holding Lily's hand, and Severus watching with worry as Lily continued to cry out in anguish and pain, pushing for the child to be released from the confines of her body. With a final push, a loud pain induced yell and a shrill cry from the infant now being held by the healer in the delivery room, Severus got his first look at his child. A small creature, an infant of such a petite stature, with a tuff of black hair, and blackish eyes which hadn't yet come into color, tiny hands reaching out as the small child's cry echoed throughout the room. "...a girl..."
