"Doubar, I can tell you are starting to lose your patience", Firouz spoke low to his friend. They've been walking through the market looking at the many shopping tents and carts Port James has to offer.

Doubar sighed, "We've been here a long time. Why don't you just make a decision and stick with it?"

Bryn smiled, overhearing their conversation as she approached them. She looked over Firouz's shoulder at a green broach that caught her attention. "Firouz", she pointed at the item. "What about that one? It's beautiful. Velda would love it". She looked to him, to see if he agreed.

Firouz picked it up to study. "Green is a great color on her". He stared at it a little longer. "Hmm...I don't know".

"What is wrong with it?" Doubar asked roughly. He too eyed the piece in his friend's hand.

"There is nothing wrong with the broach. Bryn has excellent taste". Firouz explained, "It's Velda. I don't know if she would like it". The stone was smooth to the touch. He moved his hand up and down slightly; feeling its weight.

"She'll like it!" Doubar and Bryn said in unison.

Firouz stared at both of his friends wide-eyed. He wondered if they were both losing their patience with him. He couldn't help but feel indecisive with anything having to do with Velda, "Okay! " He looked to the shop keeper, who lingered nearby. They made eye contact, "How much for this broach?" The man answered quickly and Firouz's eyes widened again, "This must be a rare find!"

Doubar looked at Bryn and shook his head, "This might take a while", he said under his breath. "Next thing you know, he will be asking all about that broach's history and who knows where it can go from there".

Bryn laughed lightly, knowing he would not be far from the truth. "Why don't you go to the tavern", she suggested quickly. She believed they've reached Doubar's breaking point when it comes to shopping. "I'm sure there is one near here. I will stay with Firouz till he is finished and meet you there".

Doubar hesitated. He knew he told Firouz that he would help distract Bryn for the day. Although, Bryn might also think it would be suspicious to deny that suggestion. "There are several here actually", he answered.

"Which one do you guys like to go to?" She asked. It would not surprise her if there was one the crew was loyal to during their past visits into port.

"Lucky's" Doubar recalled. "It's a little off the beaten path but Firouz knows where it is at", he confirmed. "Better crowd and the price for ale are far gentler than the taverns closer to town". He looked at Bryn and noticed that she was looking right past him.

"Do you think that is where Sinbad is headed off to right now?" Bryn nodded her towards the Captain's direction. She just saw him shake hands with a man at the stables, whom she assumed was the stable keeper. He then swiftly jumped onto a horses' back. What also captured her curiosity was the lady that jumped onto a second horse right next to him. She wore a brown hooded cape that covered her features.

Doubar turned to look and spotted his brother and companion riding away from the center of town. "No, Lass. Lucky's does not require a horse to get to from here". He looked back at Bryn and could tell, like him, that she was wondering where he was off to; where they were both off to.

"You came to us at just the right time, Sinbad. The summer cottage just became vacant three nights ago". Quinn stole a glance at Sinbad as she led him down a dirt road outside the port city. She remembered him from the last time he visited. Although, there was something different about him but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

"I wasn't sure if it was still available for rent these days in the first place. When your brother informed me that it was open for the taking, I couldn't miss the chance", Sinbad replied. As he held onto the reigns, he urged his mare to continue forward with a flick of his wrist.

Quinn did the same. Someone else did inquire about its vacancy earlier that day. Her understanding was that payment was still in negations. Finn would not rent the property to just anybody. She was not surprised that her brother was quick to offer the house to the sailor. "You saved our father's life. Our family is in your debt. It is the least we could do". She nodded her head towards the fork on the road, "We go left". As Sinbad nodded his head in recognition to the instructions, she gave him a look of uncertainty. "I should say; I don't believe the house would fit you and your entire crew".

Sinbad took in a breath and shook his head, "No, this is not for my entire crew". He made eye contact with Quinn and could see she was curious. He felt the need to explain further. "I wanted to do something for one particular crew member of mine", he smiled at his words, "Honestly, she's is more than just a crew member".

Quinn knew, by hearing rumors, that Sinbad was the sort of Captain to be kind and fair to his crew. She wondered about the 'she' that he was referring to. She didn't recall a woman on his ship before. "What is her name?"

"Bryn", Sinbad answered.

"That is a beautiful name", Quinn smiled at the man next to her. She could take a guess at what the occasion was but did not want to press further. "She is one lucky lady", she pointed out. She wondered who Bryn was and how she managed to captured the handsome sailor's heart. "I hope to meet her while you are in port".

"I will be sure to make introductions", Sinbad promised.

Firouz found his shipmates at the back corner table of Lucky's. He strode up to them with a mug of ale in each hand. Greeting them with a smile, he placed the mugs on the round wooden table. "This place is packed!"

"It's great!" Anders exclaimed enthusiastically. "This buy one get one free ale offer really seems to bring in a crowd". He eyes wandered. "Great business decision if you ask me".

"Too bad the offers is only for another hour", Doubar pointed out. He elbowed Rongar lightly, who stood to the right of him. "What do you say about us getting another round?"

Rongar smiled at the idea and nodded his head in agreement. He turned to follow Doubar but stopped midstride as Doubar looked to Firouz.

"FIROUZ! Where's Bryn?"

"Oh, she went back to the ship." Firouz replied nonchalantly. "She said something about wanting to change her clothes". He looked at Doubar, who did not look at all pleased. He was quick to speak, "Don't worry, I told her exactly how to get here. My directions were very thorough".

"That is not what I am worried about". Doubar informed him. "You", he cleared his throat in correction. "We were supposed to keep her occupied. What happens if she stumbles upon Sinbad in the midst of his preparations?"

"We did keep her occupied all afternoon", Firouz pointed out, "Sinbad should be done by now. It has been some time since we last seen him." He spoke confidently. "The sun is starting to set. I am sure he is one his way here by now. He would know where to find us".

Doubar grunted in frustration. "I wish Sinbad didn't keep us in the dark. It would have been nice to know what his plans were and when we would be expecting him; don't you think?"

Anders could not hold back his curiosity any longer. He held up a halting hand. "What a minute!" His eyes shifted between Doubar and Firouz, "What are you guys talking about? What plans?"

Doubar nodded his head, "My point exactly! Firouz will catch you up." He elbowed Rongar, "Come on! Let's go get another round before happy hour ends!"

Firouz spoke to Doubar's retreating form, "Perhaps he didn't have any set plans!" His gaze followed his friend and could see Doubar only shaking his head in response.

Ander's raised his brows and looked to Firouz, "What was that all about?"

Firouz shrugged and spoke with regret. "I may have kept him shopping around the markets for too long. You know him. His patience is only so much!"

"Another round will do him good", Anders smiled, "Will do us all good".

Quinn watched Sinbad as they entered the cottage. It did not take him long to show his satisfaction. She barely had to show him around. Most other perspective renters wandered through every room to scrutinize each detail. She could tell Sinbad was not so concerned about the details of the home. He seemed to be an easy person to please and she sensed he had other things on his mind.

"It is a beautiful home", Sinbad stated, "I could tell Finn takes great care of it". He smiled, "I am sure you are to take a lot of credit for that as well".

Quinn laughed slightly, "I will take some credit. This is Finn's baby; he is always updating something to make the rental a little cozier. Every now and then he will ask me to help out with a project. He likes to add some feminine touches here and there".

Sinbad brought his attention to the back window. From where he stood he could see the sea. "Mind if I take a look outside?"

"Please, do", Quinn nodded. She took a step forward to follow him out the back door.

More and more she grew curious of what was on Sinbad's mind. She continued to watch him and immediately saw that his features relaxed once he stepped outside. He was staring at the sand path that leads to the beach right on the edge of the property. She pointed in that direction, "That is most definitely the favorite for all guest. The beach is absolutely breathtaking". She made eye contact with him, "Perfect for evening or morning strolls", she spoke slowly in a relaxing tone, "Away from town, it is not crowded. You get the sense of privacy. It's very peaceful".

Sinbad smiled. It sounded like she was trying to sell it to him. Finn was lucky to have her on his side when it comes to their family business, "It sounds perfect". He tilted his head towards the side of the house, indicating that he was going to walk around it. "I better get going. There are more matters that I need to see to before I settle for the evening".

Quinn nodded her head in understanding. Following his lead, she strode towards the horses. "Is there anything I can help you with, Sinbad? My afternoon is free".

Sinbad was appreciative of the offer. It only took him a moment to think about it as he climbed back on top of his horse. "If you don't mind, perhaps you can help me find a favorable fisherman in town?"

Quinn settled herself onto her horse as well. She nodded her head in confidence, "Certainly!" She clicked her tongue to catch her horses' attention. A slight flick of her wrist caused her mare to move forward. Sinbad road alongside her; back towards town.

Feeling very positive of the evening to come, Bryn was humming a tune when she stepped aboard The Nomad. Thoughts of Sinbad's dinner invitation were never far from her mind ever since they made it into port. As he pointed out to her, it was something for just the two of them.

She felt they would both agree that that arrangement would be a rare occasion. She was lost in thought thinking about what she had on board that she could wear for the evening. She wanted to show Sinbad another side of her; a more delicate and feminine side. She wanted to look nice.

Just as Bryn was about open the hatch to go below deck to change, she could feel that she was not alone. Scanning the sky above, she saw movement. "Where have you been all this time?"

Dermott continued to circle above, "Following Sinbad".

"Please tell me everything is all right." Bryn's eyes followed the falcon. She's been with the crew long enough to know that trouble or anyone needing help was not a rarity. Dermott is usually the first to know of these things. She wished for an easy day in a port. Selfishly, she did not want anything to keep her and Sinbad from spending some personal time together. They needed a break from the rest of the world.

"Everything is all right", Dermott responded with some amusement. She gave her a reassuring chirp.

Bryn sensed there was something he wasn't telling her, "You're keeping something from me", she stated more than asked.

Dermott continued to fly above her. He was silent. Teasingly silent.

"Dermott!" Bryn raised her voice to him out loud. She knew that he was in a good mood and wanted to know what was going on.

Dermott chirped repeatedly back at her as if he was laughing. "You have nothing to worry about, Bryn", Dermott replied calmly. "You best better get ready, Sinbad is heading back into town and he will be looking for you".

Riley entered Lucky's with a mission. He needed to gain passage out of Port James. This afternoon he spoke with several crew men and a couple Captains from different ships. None were heading anywhere he wanted to go. As he scanned the crowded room, he found the person he intended to speak with earlier; Doubar. He could also see that Sinbad's crew were not far from where the First Mate stood. He grew curious of where they were heading after Port James but was hesitant to ask the Captain himself. He needed to show Sinbad that he was indeed putting effort into finding another ship to sail out of port as he promised. He told himself that The Nomad would be a last resort.

Before making his way to Doubar, he walked straight to the bar. If he were to be in Doubar's good gracious this evening, approaching the table with two drinks in hand may be beneficial.

xxxx

"Anders, you are far more interested in the food arriving to those other tables than watching the women that have walked through the door", Doubar observed out loud.

Anders did not deny it and shrugged. "I'm hungry".

"Why don't we ordered a double portion of something and just share it among the table", Firouz chimed in. "I am getting hungry myself.

"Are we sure a double portion is enough?" Doubar pointed out. "After all, I am here! Let's triple it".

Rongar nodded his head in agreement to the idea. He too was starting to feel hunger. He pointed to the other table, indicating what they had on their plate looking appealing.

"What about Bryn?" Anders asked the group.

Unbeknownst to him, Bryn was just approaching the table when she heard her name. "What about me?" She asked him curiously.

All four men turned to look at her. Their reactions varied from raised brows to smiles. Freshened up from the day, she let her hair fall down past her shoulders and she had on a dress they've never seen before.

"Wow", Anders was the first to speak, "You clean up nicely".

"Don't act so surprised", Bryn pretended to be hurt. She shook her head and smiled at him for the compliment.

"What Anders means to say is that you look beautiful", Doubar let her know more seriously. He gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze.

Bryn laughed when she saw Rongar agree with his thumbs up. "Thank you" She looked to Anders still not clear of what he was questioning when she first arrived at the table, "I heard my name".

"We were talking about ordering some food and I did not want you to miss out in case you were hungry", Anders informed her.

"I will pass on this one", Bryn responded. She glanced around the room, speaking to the crew, "Have any of you seen Sinbad?' She hoped he would have been there by now when she entered Lucky's. She knew he wasn't far since Dermott let her know that he was on his way back into town.

Firouz answered, "Not yet", he gave her a reassuring nod, "I'm sure he'll be here soon".

Bryn let herself look around the room again and her eyes landed on a woman a few tables away. The lady was looking in their direction and her eyes were studying one of the crew members she was with. Bryn leaned towards Anders to speak, "I think you caught someone's attention".

Anders, as well as the whole crew followed her trail of sight. Bryn spoke quickly to the table, "Don't all look at once!" She turned her back away from the woman and tried to hide her laughter.

"Do you think I should go talk to her?" Anders asked loud enough for just the crew to hear. He appeared nervous of the idea.

"Of course you should!" Doubar looked at him like he was crazy for even questioning it. "She keeps looking over here. Go see if you can buy her a drink".

Anders looked to Bryn, who turned back around to face the crew. It was as if he needed female confirmation. Bryn nodded her head. "She definitely looks thirsty".

Sinbad tied the reigns of his horse onto a wooden fence outside Lucky's. He just parted ways with Quinn. She told him that she needed to touch base with her brother before settling into the tavern. Before riding off she bid him a wonderful evening, in case she did not run into him later on.

Even though the tavern was a little further away from town, Sinbad was confident he would find his crew here. Lucky's was a favorite spot in Port James for locals and the owner was a good man and friend to him and the crew. When he entered, he could see that it was crowded. There was not an empty spot at the bar. He would have had to shoulder his way in to order a drink.

Walking around the room, he recognized a few faces. Some smiled in recognition of him in greeting as he passed them. He did not linger to talk. His main focus was finding Bryn. He thought that she was probably wondering where he has been all day and he did not want to keep her waiting for any longer than he already has.

He finally saw her through the crowd. Among the crew, she was standing around a tall wooden table. She was facing him but did not see him. There was amusement in her eyes that paired with a smile. At that distance, he loved seeing his crew laughing and joking amongst themselves. Compared to the last port of call, the mood overall for everyone was night and day.

Walking towards them he noticed another woman at the table. Judging by how close she was standing next to Anders, he seemed to have captured her attention. Anders did not seem to mind at all.

"SINBAD!"

xxxx

The crew heard someone call out their Captain's name. Turning towards the sound of the voice, they found Sinbad shaking hands with another sailor in port.

"Ah! There he is!" Doubar spoke out loud. He even recognized the man Sinbad was greeting. "He may need some rescuing". Doubar saw Rongar laugh before he could even let his point come across. He made eye contact with his silent friend, "He's worse than Firouz!"

"Hey! What is that supposed to mean?" Firouz questioned quickly.

At that moment, Riley strode up to the table laughing with drinks in hand. "If anyone needs rescuing…", he spoke slowly and took a stand next to Bryn, "…it would be this lovely lady right here". He blatantly looked at her from head to toe and gave her a charming smile. He obviously liked what he was seeing.

Bryn had to smile at his words. She did so with a shake of her head, "I don't need rescuing".

Riley noticed her glance at the second drink he placed on the table, "Don't worry. This one is not for you". He pushed the mug towards the intended owner. "Doubaaar", Riley gave a big smile.

Doubar couldn't help himself, "I am not interested!" He joked, "I prefer the more female companion". The table erupted with laughter.

Not at all surprised, Riley nodded his head at the reaction. He looked at Doubar again and spoke more seriously, "Let's have a little chat". He lowered his voice as he noticed Sinbad coming to the table from the corner of his eye. "Perhaps, after you finish this drink". He hoped to speak with Doubar without Sinbad present.

xxxx

Sinbad finally made it to the crew's table just as Doubar picked up Riley's offered drink. He greeted them all with a smile and received a welcoming nod from Rongar. He passed Riley as he made his way to stand on the other side of Bryn. Riley nodded his in greeting as well to the Captain. For a brief moment Sinbad wondered if Riley had any luck finding a ship out of port. He pushed the thought aside when his eyes met Bryn's own.

Bryn angled her body away from the table to give him some space. It was definitely starting to get crowded where they all stood. She smiled up at him. "Where have you been all day?"

Sinbad took a step closer to her and placed a gentle hand on her back. He brought his mouth to her ear to whisper, "You will see soon enough". He gave her a promising smile as she looked at him curiously. He let his hand linger; caressing her back in a small circles.

He did not fail to notice the dress that she had on. She wore a one shoulder sleeved dress that was made with a light flowing fabric. There was a slit on the sleeve that opened from her elbow up with any movement. Her other shoulder was left bare. The dress was a light shade of blue detailed with golden thread on the draped neckline. Her stopped high above her knees. It was simple yet beautiful at the same time.

"Sinbad!" Anders captured the Captain's attention. He managed to make his way around the table with a friend following behind him. "I'd like you to meet Lara". He gestured towards the woman now standing beside him.

It was the same woman Sinbad noticed from afar when he first found them. He extended out his right hand and gave her a smile. "It is a pleasure to meet you"

Lara shook his hand tightly, "The pleasure is mine, Captain Sinbad!" She smiled widely. "Anders said you've just arrived into port earlier this afternoon". Her eyes widened in wonder, "How did you manage to make it through that storm?"

"I've had plenty of practice", Sinbad responded.

Lara looked between Sinbad and Anders as she spoke. "I've never been on a ship before".

Anders kept his eyes fixated on Lara, surprised at her admission. "Really?"

Before responding Sinbad noticed that Riley and Bryn were having their own side conversation. He glanced back at the couple in front of him. "Why don't you give Lara a tour of the ship tomorrow afternoon?" He winked at Anders,

Lara was already nodding her head at the idea before Anders had the chance to ask her if that is something she would wish to do. "That would be wonderful!"

"Great!" Sinbad placed a hand on Ander's shoulder, "Than it's settled!"

Food started to arrive at the table for the crew. It looks and smelled delicious. Sinbad stepped away from Anders and Lara as they talked amongst themselves about the ship. He turned to Bryn just as she glanced at the food. "Shall we get going?" He asked her; extending out an inviting hand.

Bryn looked up at him and nodded her head with a smile. She too was started to get hungry. She wondered what Sinbad had in mind for the two of them. She grabbed his hand allowing him to lead the way.

Sinbad first lead her to Doubar who was standing at the opposite side of the table from them. He managed to steer his brother's attention from the food for a brief moment. "We are heading out", he informed him. "If you need us for any reason, ask Finn. He will know where to find us".

Doubar looked at him with confusion, "Who's Finn?"

"The inn keeper", Sinbad answered. "You know Finn", he reminded him.

"Oh! That Finn", Doubar finally recalled. He gave Sinbad and Bryn a cheeky smile. "You two don't get into trouble now".

"I was going to say the same about you!" Sinbad retorted.

"Don't you worry about us", Doubar spoke as he started filling up his plate with the tavern food. "Now get out of here before someone gives you a reason to stay". He dismissed them with a wave of his free hand. He looked at the both of them and hoped they will get the time they needed together. The both of them were different but similar in many ways. They both have a huge heart for helping others but sometimes set their own needs aside. "I will keep an eye on the crew".

"Thank you", Sinbad stated sincerely. He gave Bryn's hand a squeeze and tilted his head towards the door. "Let's go".
