Secret Love

Secret Love

Four: A Request

Heimdallr was checking Midgard even if nothing really important caught his eyes with the mortals or the Spirits anymore. He looked and saw something that he knew would be of importance to his Queen. He gave a call to her and Frigga arrived next to him.

"My Queen, his time has come." Heimdallr said.

"Is he suffering?" Frigga asked.

"No, I believe he is not." Heimdallr said.

"Good, good he does not deserve it." Frigga told him.

"There is something I'm curious about." Heimdallr told her.

"Yes?"

"Why did you need to know of his death?" Heimdallr asked.

"Heimdallr we all know mortals have last request and I wish to grant him that, tis the least I can do and I know Jakeline would appreciate me doing this for her best friend." Frigga told him. "She loved him, not as she loved her husband but as a close companion and he was there for her."

"Ah." Heimdallr said. "Do you not believe he would ask for more time?"

"No." Frigga said shaking her head. "He lost the reason to live many years ago, when he lost his love."

"Princess Jakeline?"

"No, his true love the love he had for Jakeline was that of brother and sister the same she had for him." Frigga said. Heimdallr gave her a nod and waited so he could tell his Queen the man's request.

"I shall inform you, when he is alone." Heimdallr said.

"Thank-you."

He was in the bed surrounded by his nephews and nieces, sisters and friends. He didn't married, not that anyone blamed him not after she had died the way she did. But he knew that wasn't the whole truth. That is what everyone believed. The truth was that he had lost two people he loved, his actual love and the girl that he loved as his sister.

"You're going to be alright." Pippa Bennett told him. She had been with him, since he finally succumbed to the tiredness.

"Now you and I both know that is not the truth." He told her.

"You know she would have been here with you." Pippa told him and there was sadness in her eyes. Michael gripped her hand tighter.

"It was not your fault." He told her.

"I think it was, we could have done something else it was her birthday after all." Pippa whispered.

"And she wanted to spend it with the person she cared about the most." Michael told her. "Jacqueline loved you."

"She loved you too." Pippa told him.

"I know, but her heart belonged to someone else, just like mine did." Michael told her and Pippa was not surprised.

"I don't think my parents recovered from her death." Pippa said changing the subject.

"Your parents loved you." He told her. "Pippa, do you have my letters?"

"Yes, yours and hers they're with me." Pippa said.

"Thank you." Michael said and a rough cough came from his lips.

"I know, Michael you have to hold on." Pippa said. Michael shook his head.

"No, Pippa it's my time." Michael said. "You don't want to know, how long I've waited for this." Michael didn't know if this was God's punishment for not protecting the two people he loved the most, but he was in his sixties.

"I think I have an idea, you've never been the same." Pippa told him. "You were the best adoptive big brother ever."

"You were one of my sisters." Michael told her. "Now you be careful, I just want to sleep."

"Okay." Pippa said and kissed his brow before leaving the room. He could hear his family crying already and it hurt him that he had caused such pain.

"Whoever is listening, I don't wish for more time." He whispered. "I….I just wish for another try let me be with both my loves, my Thomas and Jacqueline again that is all I desire, it may be selfish but that is all I want to be with them, wherever they may be in another life or in heaven." Michael whispered. He didn't know someone was listening to his request. He saw outside his window and it was snowing he saw that a frozen picture had appeared in his window and he smiled before he closed his eyes and let sleep take him.

Outside Jacqueline looked at the older man as he fell asleep, he had smiled at her picture and she like that. She moved from out the window because she knew it was not a normal sleep either. She had no idea what pulled her to look into the window either. But she moved to go spread snow.

"He is gone." Heimdallr informed Frigga.

"Yes, I will fulfill his last request in another life he will be able to be with both of his loves." Frigga said and there was a tear in her eyes that she whipped away and Heimdallr pretended not to see. "Wherever they may be, he will see them again and I bless him with all the happiness when he finds them once more."

"I think he will like that but Princess Jakeline." Heimdallr said.

"If they both go to the Christian Pantheon; they will fulfill the request they don't know who his loves are." Frigga told him.
