Chapter 4 : New beginnings
24 hours after Evacuation of Sera
Overwhelming sadness and pain is everywhere around the ISA marine base. So many people broken , lost and suffered from 14 years of war .
ISA marines , personal , staff and medics were doing whatever they can to comfort the refugees, so many people and gears cried and wept while other shed tears for everything they values came crashing down. They held children first then the gear soldiers who broke down into tears . There were children who had lost families and homes during the locust-human war were taken to foster care facilities in Vekta and awaiting for new families. Right now the ISA had to go through a lot of trouble for coming up an exploitation to media and the press , providing psychological treatments for the refugees and preparing a full investigation of the locust war and other war crimes starting with the people involved.
The marines even have to sacrifice their barracks in order to give room for other refugees. Dozens citizens or gears were laying on bunks in the ISA barracks were asleep or awake or crying to themselves.
Rico shook his head in disbelief as he walked past a barrack filled with COG refugees and he felt really sad for these people but the question was why would these people deserve this shit ? His fist tighten around his M224-A1 machine gun but even worse he had to delivered the news of Dizzy Williams death and his dogtag to his two daughters who were left fatherless.
But a pinch feeling of guilt hit him , Rico wished he could do something for these people even more not leaving them to die on their own. He and rest of the ISA could do something to prevent the war from happening in Sera but they never did because of the war with the helghast . Rico noticed that there were so many marines began questioning the safety and the security of the refugees but Rico felt the rage inside of him as he marched toward the armory.
Rico Turned over his machine gun to the quartermaster before he walks toward the locker room. Rows of lockets stood in front of him as he stand down in a bench after putting away his body armor , poach gear and equipment .
Rico lunged forward and delivered a punch to his locker and his head turned to his friend Sev who look at him in disbelief and worry.
" Rico ? " asked Sev calmly as he placed his distanced away from his friend who was in rage mode. Rico sighed heavily as he let his anger go and placed his hands on his hands.
" We could've done something to prevent this shit! " Rico yelled "These people haven't got a chance to get to us and even worse the dam higs had to show up. It hurts man. Those fucking locust fucked everything and I don't know who this motherfucker queen is . I am be dam if I want to fuck her up."
"We all want to fuck her up so bad. We didn't know any of this shit would happen to them and we didn't even know !" added Sev " We all take it real hard Rico even me , command is letting all these people into our doorstep . Narville is in the hospital and we stuck here with these people from Sera. We all felt bad for them and we know that Rico . There is nothing we can do for them in the beginning."
" Man Sev , You right and I over acted . You know Sev , it hurts ,really hurts ." signed Rico as he signed in disgust and groaned with sadness as Sev placed his hand on Rico's shoulders " We don't know what's going to happen next but we see tomorrow ."
" I just ...can't be these locust things that Anya told me about the whole locust fucking war thing and that the most bad ass shit I ever hear but it was too fucking real . It was something I wouldn't forget ." said Sev sadly.
" This bulllshit really hurts Sev ." said Rico sadly
Back on Helghan , the small group of helghast engineers were working on applying armour into Marcus or Deathstroke in the lab. Marcus had forged an alliance with the helghast to have revenge on the people who left him to die.
Visari and Redec smiled at their newest creation ; Visari had other plans for Marcus and this time he will work on Marcus's soul and mind.
Vekta city hospital
Narville groaned as he stirred up from his unconscious then He found himself laying a bed in a room with blue glowing strip walls . There was a table and two chairs , small bath room and Narville found himself in a hospital grown . His torso was covered with bandages and his forehead too.
His vision was blurry, Narville rumbled his eyes to see a young woman staring at him. Narville realized it was Anya .
" Anya ? " he said nervously
Narville thought Anya was going to slap in the face and he was expecting that but instead Anya wrapped her arms around Narville and hugged him tight .
" Anya ." sighed Narville
" Narville ." asked Anya
" What are you doing here ? "
" I reach out to Sev and he took me here to find you . Doctor said you will recover in 6 weeks ." said Anya as she held Narville's hand . Narville turned to see Sev peeking through the door before closing the door leaving the two soldiers in privately
" I am so sorry for Marcus and what he been though ." said Narville guiltily." Even you too ."
Anya lowered her eyes " I don't how Marcus lose himself and I just feel I love him but he broke my heart. I don't know what to do. I don't know why he had to do it."
" It okay, you are safe." as he hugged her gently and pat her yellow hair. Anya busted into tears crying into Narville's chest. " Its my fault-" she sobbed . Anya sobbed into Narville's chest as Narville held her softy " You are safe."
Anya cried in her heart as she buried her face against Narvilles's neck . Narville smoothed her hair gently and he can't believe how much she and Marcus and all these people been though the years and horrors of war. People like her need an outlet that offer some closure and peace even solitary and he understands why Marcus been though a lot . The locust war and the death of his loved ones droved Marcus to insanity
" No it my fault for bring my men and I into this mess ." Narville sighed " It over Anya , the war , the helghast . The helghast for now and now we going to get to the bottom of this . "
Anya nodded weakly, tears pouring from her eyes and laid her head on Narville's wounded chest " I be there for you and I be there for you Narville. "
" I be there for you too Anya until the end . Will you please tell me more about Dom and his dad." Narville whispered as he placed his hand on Anya's face as she look up to Narville. Narville and Anya leaned their foreheads against each other and a new romantic relationship started fresh between Narville and Anya .
Lower floor
Sofia Hendricks blinked and rumbled her head and she let out a low groan as her eyes blinked and slowly opened . She found herself in a blue hospital grown laying in a warm bed in a hospital room . She looked around to see a high tech medical monitor recording her heart beats and saw blue lines and strips glowing around the wall. Removing the white blanket She could see her bandaged hand and her bandaged leg and her wounds were healed mysterious but she had no idea how or why.
"Where I am ? " she asked herself nervously . She slowly got up from the bed ignoring the pain aching and reached for a white cotton house robe and put it on.
Bushing down her red hair into a pony tail , then she slowly walked towards the door which mysterious open for her. "What the hell? Tell me I am not dreaming." Sofia said to herself
Sofia peeked out the door to found herself in the hallway of the hospital room . Doctors and nurses both female or male walked past her along a ISA squad of marines in full Kevlar fibre body armor with assault rifles ignoring the young woman . The young former Onyx guard held the wall for support as she tried to took a step then Sofia cried out in pain collapsing to the floor holding her side.
Jammer walked past a reception desk next to the elevators turned to a corridor and just in time to see a woman collapsed to the floor in one of rooms. Jammer rushed to the young woman and helping her on her feet placing her arm over her shoulder " You okay ? " asked Jammer " I help you" as the ISA commando lead her to her bed as they both sat down
Sofia gasped in shock and recognized her savior . " You and I ... Wait a minute do we even met before" asked Sofia
" I remember you and it was me back on Sera. I got you out of that cave and off this hell hole ." said Jammer " I get you going something to eat and ps my treat."
Sofia broke into a grin and the two woman laughed as they wrapped each other in a hug and amuse. " You must be Sofia and I mean you are dam tough baby. Glad you can make it"
" Its Sofia Hendrick."
" I am Jammer ." said Jammer before shaking hands with the red hair woman
" Where I am ? " asked Sofia
" You are in Vekta and you don't remember you are in a hospital right now."
" What ? Vekta but Sera –"
" Sofia you are in Vekta , we evacuated the whole planet." Said Jammer holding her shoulders " You are safe with us. It over !"
" The locust are dead and the war is over. We got everyone out of here and I be dam if I want to go back to Sera home of the worst freak like demons underground."
Sofia stared at her with confusion and shock. " But the war and ..." as Sofia got up from the bed and walk and opened the window to see a large civilized landscape of buildings and flying objects outside.
" So this is Vekta." Said Sofia blankly as she sat back down on her hospital bed as Jammer confront her " I am so glad this is all over. " Sofia sobbed and wipe tears off her face. Jammer knew something was wrong and determined to help Sofia out as she placed her arm around her.
" Oh god is been 17 years. Wait minute where Paduk ? did I left him oh no."gasped Sofia
" Hey , it alright? Whos Paduk ?"asked Jammer confused
" Hess...my ..." stumbled Sofia fearfully
" Boyfriend" finished Jammer
" Just one thing at a time.I with you but I help you out if I can . I wouldn't let you drown like this . Take my hand and just tell me what happen back at Sera. Don't worry I be there. Please tell me everything " As the two woman held both of their hands together as Sofia took a deep breath.
" I used to be a Onyx Guard cadet during the war and I was assigned to keep an eye on a UIR major Garron Paduk, I and Paduk was in combat for 5 years. Then Paduk made his decision to leave the COG and I joined him because we both felt we aren't equal enough in the COG. We both stayed in Halvo Bay together for 12 years." said Sofia
" One day I remember I was kidnapped back on Halvo Bay ...I was knock out... they tied me and threw me in the back of their truck. Paduk tried to stop them but he couldn't . Shit When they took me back to their place." Sofia stuttered. Sofia shut her eyes recalling her memories ; it happen when a group of men kidnapped her while she was on patrol unaware they were former gears. On their way to their campsite, the kidnappers were ambushed by a group of Standard and were killed allowing Sofia to escape.
" They did hurt you didn't those son of bitches did." Asked Jammer furiously " Those assholes got what they deserved."
" They nearly... tired.." sobbed Sofia as she tried hard not press her emotion too hard
" Don't say that ! " exclaimed Jammer " I don't what to hear that word . Don't you get it ! It over." As Jammer held her shoulders tight.
Sofia sniffed before continued her story " I was taken in by the same people who saved me and it turns out it was my cousins who saved me. "
" You know them ? " asked Jammer
" It was my cousin even my little sister." Said Sofia " They must become Standard when the hammer hit and I am shock they were still alive. They took me in and I had to become like them because I have to stay alive . I stayed with them for a year before I left the settlement so I could go find Paduk. God I hope he still breathing and alive. He missed me "
" I was getting closer to Halvo bay and it took me almost a week to get there . Until the grubs jumped me and they chain me in a cave and left me to die." Finished Sofia and turned to Jammer " Until You saved me Jammer. Thank you for saving my life." Said Sofia as she finished her tears.
Jammer stared at her with shock and disbelief and said " I am sorry for what you been though but it is over forever. I will be there for you and I wouldn't let everything and that eat you up for good and get away with it. I promise you , I can stop it from eating you from the inside."
" Thank you." whispered Sofia
Then Jammer and Sofia then embraced in a hug and Jammer vow to herself she will be a sister to Sofia and will be inseparable.
