Chapter 4 - Test Your Might
It was the morning before the games. Snow held a press conference in front of thousands of Capitol citizens. The 24 other tributes and their mentors watched from their preparation rooms. Snow got on the podium and addressed the eagerly awaiting crowd.
Snow proudly announced with enthusiasm: "As you know for the third quarter quill, previous victors of our most coveted games are competing for the distinction of who is best of the best. And those of you who remember your ancient history, remember that for the first three games the Capitol participated, and remind you easily won all three." Snow was interrupted by an applause from the Capitol crowd.
After the applause subsided, Snow continued his speech, "To adhere to the rules of the games and demonstrating not even the Capitol is above its own rules, the Capitol will participate in these games."
Giving a brief second for the crowd to react to the news, Snow carried on with his press conference, "However, there's just one problem. The Capitol doesn't have any living victors."
The Capitol crowd moaned as the realized is currently has no living victors.
Hearing the ruckus Snow had created amongst the Capitol crowded he sought to reassert order. With confidence Snow announced, "However, to change that! Volunteering for the Capitol, I would like to introduce the Capitol's tribute for the 75th Hunger Games, SCORPION."
The platform lifted with a cold-soulless man in a yellow ninja outfit coming out of it. Scorpion was expressionless, almost as though he were a demon himself. The Capitol audience was too much in an uproar to dwell on the idea a demon was competing in this year's games. They were starstruck learning the Capitol itself was participating once against, and frankly didn't care who was representing them. All that mattered to the audience was 'this guy better win'.
However, everyone outside the Capitol got bad vibes. The districts were petrified with the sight of Scorpion's demonic gaze. Worst of all, the other 24 tributes felt the feeling of bad omen. In the preparation rooms the 24 other contestants were trembling in fear. Even the careers were startled. Brutus, Cashmere, Gloss, and Enobaria concealed their hesitation in-front of the other tributes. The careers tried to repress the thought of their inevitable brutal death by fooling themselves by thinking about fame it would bring if they could slay the Capitol's tribute, but deep within the back of their minds they were trying fool themselves.
Scorpion was about to demonstrate his ruthlessness in front of the ecstatic Capitol crowd. Six wooden training dummies emerged surrounding Scorpion. With only one punch he broke a dummy in half and sent it flying towards the crowds hoping to catch its debris. He then threw one dummy into another and destroyed both of them in one swift move. With one powerful kick, the 4th dummy went flying sky high into an audience member hoping to catch it as a prize. To assault the 5th dummy, Scorpion pushed it down and smashed it into wooden fragments with one hard stomp. And against the last dummy, he chopped its wooden head to slice it in half.
Lastly to showcase Scorpion's skill in front of the Capitol audience, a man was lowered onto the podium Scorpion was on. That man was Cinna.
Snow got on the mic and explained to the crowd, "This man refused to designed a uniform for Scorpion to wear. People of that Capitol, what do you think of this treason?"
The crowd erupted with loud "Booooooooos."
After hearing the crowd's reaction, Snow announced to the crowd, "Cinna here will play a game, if he can escape from Scorpion within 5 seconds, he lives."
Hearing this news, Cinna reacted by running to the far end of the podium farthest away from Scorpion as humanly possible. Appearing inhumanly possible to reach Cinna after the 5 seconds, Scorpion shouted, "Get Over Here!" launching his spear and chain at the fleeing Cinna. It latched onto Cinna's back and punchered thru his skin as he was being dragged back towards Scorpion.
"Folks, looks like Cinna lost," Snow commented towards the crowd.
Scorpion dragged Cinna right next to him, then attacked him with an uppercut sending him flying into the air and into the pavement in front of the Capitol crowd (similar to the pit stage fatality). Cinna died instantly from the impact of the fall.
Scorpion rose his right hand as though he was the guaranteed victor of the games, showing no thought or expression from those soulless white eyes of his.
Snow got on the mic and closed the press conference with, "May the Odds Ever Be in Your Favor..."
