What It Takes To Believe

Emma's heart pounded against her chest as she felt her body lighten as she rose higher into the sky. The sound of wind spiraling around her flooded her ears with a swooshing sound. She couldn't limbs were frozen to the sides of her body, she thrashed around trying to get her arms freed,but the more she fought she only exhausted herself. She was stuck,but she was determined to get her arms freed from her sides. She needed to find a way to stop whatever was happening.

The force of the wind strengthen. The sound in her ear became deafening as she heard her ears popped. She tried to focus on what was taking place down below,but the wind whipped her hair into her eyes stinging her. As soon as she would open her eyes and tried to look down, she quickly had to close them, but she did manage to see a few things. Regina had Henry by the arm as she leading him away to her car and they drove off. Just then she began to feel the wind slow down and was able to keep her eyes open as she looked down trying to locate MM and David. She began to descend, her arms released from the sides of her body. She stumbled as her feet touched ground. She quickly spun around and saw David,MM and the group of people who had gone after Regina sprawled out on the ground. She ran to them as David got to his feet and took hold of MM's hand and helped her up. The crowd looked dazed.

"What happened?"Emma asked as she got nearer.

"Regina. She has her powers." Said MM as she dusted her knees.

"

Wait, what just happened to me was caused by Regina?" Emma asked?

"yes, now do you believe us?" asked David. Emma was still processing all that had with the wave of her hand shut her up into the air. Emma was sure that it wasn't some freaky act of nature that lifted her into the sky. What if it was all true? What if Regina was the evil queen. Emma's heart wouldn't let her believe any of it,not after what they had both shared since she got here. She knew that Regina had her moments when she would act cold and mean,but that was what made Regina herself, she was just different that way.

"no. there is no way that she did this." said Emma.

"open your eyes! we didn't save you from the curse for you not to believe" said Grumpy as he joined the conversation.

" You listen to me. I know she is not a evil queen! now i would appreciate it if you would knock off this talk about a curse!" Emma said as she got up close to Grumpy's face.

" Everyone needs to calm down! We need to focus on getting Henry back" said David as he got between them.

"yes! we need a plan. We aren't going to help Henry by arguing with each other." said MM.

Emma stepped back and tugged her jacket tighter around her as Grumpy glared at her and grunted. Emma needed to get away from these people. She was sure Regina took Henry home to keep him safe from what was going on. Emma's mind buzzed. She was never more confused as she was at the moment. She had no idea what was going on and she always liked to be abreast of everything.

"he just went home with his probably wanted to get him away from you people!" Emma yelled as she turned and began to walk away. She wasn't going to stand there and listen to all that nonsense.

"Emma! where are you going?" MM yelled

"it doesn't matter, we have to go save the boy. MM you more than anyone else know what the evil queen is cable of" said Grumpy

"just leave me alone. please. " Emma yelled over her shoulder. Emma walked down main street. There weren't many people about as most of them had rushed over to help those who had been hurt.

Emma's life had seriously been turned upside down since that day that Henry came and found her. Her plan was to only stick around long enough to get to know Henry and to make sure that when she had given him up as a baby, that she had indeed given him his best chance. She had been in foster care as a child and had no memories of her family. She couldn't bear to raise Henry on her own. She had no idea on how to be a mother and couldn't give Henry the life that he deserved. She made her way to Granny's. It was the only place that she felt she could go. She was in no mood to return to the sheriff's station and most of all she didn't want to go to the apartment in case she were to run into MM. When she walked through the white fencing of Granny's she realized that there was a closed sign hanging from the inside of the door. She moaned in frustration, hoping that Ruby and Granny weren't affected by the purple smoke and out hunting Regina. She walked back out and sat on the pavement just outside the fencing. She took her jacket off as the afternoon sun shun rest the jacket on her lap as she buried her face in her hands. She just stayed like that,with her eyes closed, finding solace in the dark. She peeked her eyes out from her hands, her eyes readjusting to the afternoon fished her phone out from her pocket and decided she better check in on Henry and Regina. She dialed up the number and placed the phone to her ear. She heard the ringing buzz in her ear,but there was no answer. She tried again and yet there was no answer. She must have tried 4 times and no answer.

She sat there beginning to worry. What if they got to Regina? She's in danger. Emma quickly stood up and practically ran up main street to where she had parked her car. The street was deserted, no one was around. Emma felt the fear rise within her as she spun around looking to see if she could see anyone,but there was no one. She jumped in her car and pressed her foot all the way down on the gas. Her little car jerked forward and it took off racing down the street. She didn't care about any speed limits, she needed to get to Henry and Regina.
As she pulled up in-front of Regina's house her heart dropped. She saw a huge crowd of people around the house. She didn't have time to safely park the car as she jumped out and began pushing her way through the crowd. She squeezed past people,as she approached the house she could see that the front door was opened,she felt herself being pushed about against the crowd,but she fought as hard she could to make it inside.

"Henry!" Emma yelled at the top of her voice as she burst through the door way of the house. "Regina!" she could hear her voice echo. She spun around. Her heart beating fast as panic raised up to her throat.

"they're not here!" David shouted as he ran down the staircase followed by Grumpy.

"oh thank god!" Emma said as she breath in a sigh of relief.

"there is no need to be thanking god! the boy is with her!" said Grumpy as he came to stand next to David.

"they're not anywhere in the house." said Snow as she came walking from the direction of the kitchen.

"you people need to back off!" said Emma as anger build within her. "This has gone on long enough. It needs to end right now!"

"what do you think is going on here?"said Grumpy as he pushed his way forward,his face mere inches away from Emma. " you're suppose to be the savior. If you weren't Charming and Snow's kid i would have already given up on you."

" Would you please stop referring to me as that! I am no one's kid! I was abandoned as a child. I have no family" said Emma as she engaged Grumpy. "I am no savior!"

" Hey! Hey! everyone needs to calm down!" said MM as she drew Emma away.

Emma's chest heaved as she curled her fingers into fists. She glared at Grumpy. She was now pushed past her point and she had singled Grumpy out from everyone else to take her frustrations out was the one that when he opened his mouth, his words annoyed her the most. She didn't exactly know if she could take him. He was a lot bigger than her, thickly built, of an average height,but he looked like he could bulldoze over her without blinking twice.

"Grumpy, you need to go tell everyone outside that Regina is not here and that for their own safety, they should go home and stay there until we can find don't know where she could be and knowing her, she would have a plan forming against us" said MM as she took hold of Emma's hand.
"I will go speak to them. If you need me just call. I'll be waiting for you outside." Grumpy said as he turned to leave,but not before stopping in-front of Emma and giving a grunt.

"We need need to talk. Just the three of us." said MM as she moved her eyes between David and Emma.
MM lead them all into the kitchen. Emma sighed, the last time she had been in here she was with Regina, where they had one of their passionate embraces. Emma was now beyond herself with worry. Where was Henry and Regina and were they safe? She sat herself near the counter, as she buried her face in her hands,once again welcoming the comfort of the darkness. What could MM and David possibly want to talk about? She had hoped that it wasn't anything to do with them thinking she was their daughter. It couldn't possible be true. They were both almost the same age. Emma shook the thought out of her mind as she brought her hands to her lap once again taking in the scene of the kitchen. MM and David now stood in-front of her.

"If this has anything to do with you being my parents or me being some savior i don't want to hear it" Emma said

"just wait. All you have to do is listen to us." MM said as she moved closer to Emma, taking a seat next to her.

"what can you possibly say to me? I thought i knew you. I thought we were friends. I stayed by your bedside when you were in the hospital. I worked hard trying to find out what happened to you." Emma said as she folded her arms.

" I never doubted for a minute that you weren't a" MM paused, her face masked by heartache as she said " a good friend." A tear trickled down her cheek as though the word "friend" hurt her.

"You have to try to at least understand." said David as he took a seat next to MM.

"Understand what exactly?" Emma asked.

"I know that you don't believe it now,but I am Snow White and I am your mother" MM said as she rested her arm on David's shoulder " and David, is Charming, he is your father. We come from a place called the Enchanted forest. Regina is not who you think she is. She is a vile and vicious woman and she will stop at nothing to see my happiness destroyed. Which was why when you were born we saved a child born from true love could save us."

Emma sat quietly as she took in all that MM was saying to her. She listened to everything she said,but it could do nothing to help her believe. She was always a very practical person. If she can see it and she can touch it then it was real to her,so hearing all this it went against everything that she knew, so why now would she believe?

" I am very sorry,but it is impossible to believe." Emma said shaking her head. "If I did believe in this that you're telling me. I didn't even break the curse. Henry and David me"

"We were told that you would save us." said David

"Well i did no such thing." said Emma as she stood up

"Do you know what this means." Mm said jumping up from her seat."This means we're not safe yet."

"You're right! we must find Regina!" said David

"and now you're back to this witch hunt!" Emma yelled."I told you Regina is not an evil queen. She is probably just hiding somewhere trying to protect Henry from you guys!"

"Emma I told you..." MM said before she was interrupted by Emma.

"You know what? I will find them and prove it to you!" said Emma. She knew she was taking a risk by saying that. What if she found them and they attacked Regina? It was just a risk she had to take, to prove them wrong.

"Do you know where she is?" asked David

"No. I don't" said Emma as she walked back over to the chair and sat down. Emma sat thinking where could Regina possibly taken Henry. "which direction did Regina drive off? did she head out of town?"

"no. she didn't head that way." said David.

That ruled out Regina leaving town with Henry. Emma once again buried her face in her hands. She realized every time she did that,she seemed to focus a lot more. If Regina was not at the house, then she must be somewhere close by. Then it dawned her, the one place that Regina would go, the one place she felt safe., where no one would know to look for jumped up from her chair and headed for the door.

"Where are you going?" yelled David as he and MM began following her. Emma ran through the doors,she could hear David and MM at her heels. She ran down the pathway and headed for her car. "You know where they are?"

"Maybe." Emma said as she grabbed hold of the car door and opened it.

"We're going with you!" said MM as she ran walked over to the car, with David and Grumpy following her.

"No! I'll go alone." Emma said to them

"No we're coming. you don't know what you're dealing with." said Grumpy.

"really? this again!" Emma said as she ran her hand over her hair.

"Grumpy please!" MM said to him." Don't say anything,let's just discuss this."

"more talking? " Emma asked "urrghhh! will you people just chill out!" she said as she slammed the door.

"Let us go with you. We won't try to hurt Regina please. Let's just go with you, to keep you safe." David said as he moved in front of the car.

"I am very much capable of protecting myself." Emma said as she crossed her arms across her chest, her mind contemplating whether or not to take them along, if she wanted to prove them wrong she would have to show them so she said,"Fine! I'll take you,but no one goes near Regina!"

"Ok!" MM said as she opened the door.

"seriously you..." Grumpy said before he was interrupted

"don't say anything else, just get in before she changes her mind." said David as he opened the door on the front passengers side and got followed Mm inside grumbling.

Emma got in the car and drove down the road until she came to main street. The one place where you were sure to see people, was now deserted.

"where are we going?" asked David

"you'll see when we get there." answered Emma.

note: I am so sorry for not posting this alot sooner, it is alot shorter than the others. I have started a new job and i only just sat down to get this fic going. I am also working on a Bering and Wells fic,which i hope will be uploaded soon. I am on tumblr follow me the-warehouse-and-apples
