Tenile sat with me as I stared at the spot where the TARDIS had been. I didn't know how long had passed, not really, but it seemed like forever. In truth, it had really only been a couple of minutes, eventually Tenile stood up.
"Come on, we can't stay sitting here now can we? We have to go home, Mum'll be wondering where we are."
I sighed and nodded, "yeah, I know, just give me a couple of minutes will you, I'll be with you soon."
Tenile rolled her eyes and started on her way back home. It was going to be fun to try and explain to mum where we had been, not really sure how long it had been since we had left, especially since Tenile didn't have her cornflakes anymore, which would be a considerable problem if we had only been gone for a few minutes.
"So he chose to leave you behind did he?"
I looked up to see a rather smug woman leaning over me. I leaned away. It was kind of creepy the way she was looking at me.
"I'm sorry, do I know you?" I asked, looking around for something I might be able to use as a weapon.
The lady smiled, sort of, and nodded. "Of course dear, we met, well, not that long ago at all. At least, for you it was not that long ago."
I narrowed my eyes at the woman and stood up, dusting off my pants as I did so. "I have no idea what you're talking about."
She leaned away from me and gestured to the paddock. I looked around and my eyes grew wide at what I was seeing. Police tape. Shit.
I hurried past the woman to try and catch up to Tenile, but it was too late, she was already standing on the porch, smiling at our wide eyed mother.
"The both of you, you're back." My mother whispered.
Tenile looked at her, a frown forming on her face. "Of course, we're back, what are you talking about? We were just down the road."
I shook my head and pulled Tenile closer to me, "it's been days Tenile, we were gone for days."
Tenile looked at our mother, finally realising that what I had said was true, she looked back at me. "Well what do we do now?"
DWPC
"A time machine?"
I nodded. Tenile and I were sitting on the lounge, my Mother and Father standing before us, Mum was pacing, Dad was just staring at us sternly.
"You really expect me to believe that you were in a time machine?"
I nodded again, though I didn't know how many times I was going to be able to do so. "Yes, a time machine. Travelling with a man named the Doctor. Why is that so hard to believe?"
"Because it's ludicrous. That's why, who ever heard of a time machine? They don't exist. You should tell me who this man is, I'd like to get my hands on the sicko who took my girls!" My Dad told us, giving Mum a break from the question time.
"How would you know?" Tenile asked, crossing her arms. "It's a time machine; it could have come from anywhere, and the Doctor's many things, but a sicko is not one of them."
Dad turned and glared at her, something that was pretty common in our house. "Don't talk to me like that. Now I want to know where the two of you have been for the last three days."
My Father never yelled at us, but he always raised his voice. I could hear in the tone that he was struggling to remain calm. "Look, I'm sorry Dad, but this is the truth, we've been holled up in a time machine for the last three days, except it wasn't three days to us, it's only been a couple of hours."
Mum looked over at us from where she was. "Their clothes Den, look at their clothes."
I looked down at what I was wearing. It still looked pretty much the way it did when I had first left on Tuesday morning, apart from the dirt it had acquired whilst I had been sitting on the ground.
"What's wrong with our clothes?" Tenile asked, looking down at what she was wearing.
"Nothing's wrong with them, that's the point; they look as clean as the day you disappeared."
Tenile looked at me and I shrugged, I had no idea what we were supposed to do at this point. It was pretty ridiculous.
Soon there was a knock on the door, two Police officers walked into the house; they were followed in by the woman I had met in the paddock. I was confused, was this woman a Police Officer? How did she know me?
"Mrs Kaster, Mr Kaster, we would like to speak with your daughters alone, if that's possible?" One of the Officers asked, but to be honest; I would have rathered Mum and Dad stay. I was going to say something, but the voice of my Mother stopped me.
"Fine, maybe you will have better luck with them, they won't talk to me, or their Father."
Both of my parents headed out of the room, leaving us alone with the two uniform cops and the lady from the paddock. I swallowed my fear and looked the officers in the eye. It wasn't fear of them, but more of what they would say to us. They'd probably sent out all sorts of search parties and not found a trace, what were we supposed to say to them now?
"Listen, Officers, we-"
"I already know everything, Miss Kaster, I don't need you to tell me." The woman from the paddock was the one to speak, as she finished her sentence, she farted and I scrunched my nose. I blinked at her and turned to Tenile. Tenile was frowning at the woman, seemingly trying to analyse her. Tenile was always good with reading people. She didn't like people, but she was extremely good with reading them.
"How do you mean? What are you talking about?" I asked, looking back to her. Something about her was touching a nerve at the back of my mind, but I couldn't place her.
"As I said before, we have met."
"Oh Officer, you are looking rather green." Tenile suddenly announced, staring at me. She then immediately grabbed my hand and I could see she was about to jump off of the lounge, but the other two officers got there first.
"Very observant pyjamas, one point to you."
I blinked. How the hell was this the same woman from the space ship? "June?"
The woman smiled and nodded. "Not too bright are you?" She asked, tapping me on the forehead with her finger, a little too hard for me to keep from wincing in pain.
Tenile glared at the hands that were holding her back on the lounge, struggling against them and snapped, "don't be rude snotty! I'm not the one who changed my appearance!"
I blinked back at the woman and nodded. "Yes, how are you doing that?"
June smirked and nodded to the both of us. "In my line of work, one needs to be able to blend in with the general populace. For this reason, our scientists, years ago, developed a Compression Field, capable of making our large forms smaller." She then proceeded to reach up to her forehead and unzip herself. Tenile and I both watched on, horrified, as she dropped her skin suit and stepped out.
"Skin suit…" I breathed, staring at her astounded.
Tenile looked sick. "How…" We were both completely stunned.
June nodded and did something that resembled a bow. "You are welcome."
Suddenly, I had a realisation and looked over at Tenile, "is… is that woman…"
"Is she dead?" Tenile finished for me.
June nodded seemingly quite happy with herself. "Oh yes, quite so, very accommodating she was. Kept asking if I was lost. Poor dear, she thought I was going to something called, a con."
I glared at June and shook my head in anger. "You killed her! You murderer! How could you!?"
June simply shrugged. "It is rather simple my dear. I asked the Doctor not to interfere, but he simply refused. We would have just left, been on our way, no-one would have been hurt."
"The planet will freeze!" Tenile roared, her struggling growing in intensity.
June spread her hands in innocence. "That was not of my doing youngling. The sun's decrease in mass would have been due to the difference in Samarium. Completely nothing to do with me, I assure you."
"It would have decreased in mass as a direct result of your mining!" I countered, anger coursing through me at the thought that this woman had no compassion for my planet at all.
"That's an unfortunate side effect of the mining I'm afraid." She said, "nothing personal."
Tenile stared at her. "That's like saying that it's not my fault if you accidently catch on fire because I dropped a match on you."
I looked at Tenile and shook my head, though she continued to stare at June, I could see the side of her mouth upturn just a fraction.
"Nothing personal my arse you giant green booger! What the hell do you want?!" I asked her, trying to shake the hands off of my shoulders.
"Well, as the pair of you no doubt have realised, the Doctor has left you behind, he thought he was protecting you. He's done this before, I honestly don't know why he bothers, it never seems to work."
"Get on with it."
"Well, he is interfering with our work you see, we need him to stop."
I looked at her and blinked again. "What do you want me to do about it? I'm not just going to tell him to stop you know. Let him do as he pleases as far as I'm concerned!"
"Now, now Teigan dear, don't be hasty, remember where you are."
Tenile and I immediately looked towards the kitchen, where our parents were no doubt waiting. Why couldn't they hear us?
"Mum, Dad, help us!" Tenile called, leaning forward to get more vocalisation in. But they weren't coming, what was going on?
"Unfortunately your parents cannot hear us. Come now children, how stupid do you think I am?"
"Don't answer that, Tenile!"
Tenile just grunted in response, but I knew she wanted to say something, that much was abundantly clear. I shook my head at her, if we were going to work this, she was really going to have to reign in her temper, I was not going to have her getting us killed, or much worse.
"Alright, we're listening… what do you want from us?"
"I simply want you to accompany me on a little trip up to the ship."
Tenile sighed and gave up on trying to break free. "What's that going to accomplish exactly?"
"I'm sure once the Doctor discovers his precious companions on board, he will decide against blowing up the ship."
I shook my head furiously. "You're wrong! He would blow it up if it stopped you! He knows I would be mad if he let the Earth freeze!"
June laughed. "I thought you knew him child. The Doctor cares far more for his companions than he does the Earth I assure you."
I was going to retort but I held my tongue, trying to convince her was not going to work, she was just going to have to find out all of this information on her own. Maybe then she would stop what she was doing, and the Doctor wouldn't have to blow up the ship.
Tenile growled again and I managed to see her slipping something into her pocket, though I couldn't see what it was, I was going to have to ask her about it later, find out if it was important.
"Fine, June, you win. Do what you want, just don't hurt them." I gestured to the Kitchen with my head, unable to move my arms.
June nodded, "very well, you have made the right decision. Just let me slip back into my skin suit and we shall be off."
DWPC
After June has slipped back into her skin suit, which was just a horrible to watch as when she slipped out of it, we were quickly zapped back up to the ship and stuck in a gaol cell. Though this was of a very different design. The cell was more to what I imagined a futuristic alien gaol to look like.
"Lasers, seriously?" Tenile asked as we were pushed into the cell and the lasers subsequently flashed on. They were only visible for a second before they become invisible again.
"What's with the invisibility thing?" I asked. June smiled at me and passed her hand through the lasers which lit up at her movement. "It's mostly just a tease, I can go in, but you cannot come out."
It was at this point that I noticed that she was wearing some sort of chip around her fat, green wrist. That had to be the thing that allowed her to pass through the lasers.
"Nice jewels."
June pulled her hand back out and scoffed, "nice try Humans, but it will not work. Now be quiet, I wish to be rid of the reminder of your existence. When I press this switch, I will not be able to see you."
She pressed something beside the lasers and the room went dark for a moment before being bathed in red light. I looked around, but could see no other significant difference to the room. I looked over at Tenile who shrugged as we both turned our attentions to June. "This is called Isotopic Ether light; it renders all normal light inert, so even the Doctor will have one hell of a time trying to locate you. It might even take him just long enough for us to be done with our business and be on our way. Good luck to you ladies, I'll send someone by to check on you from time to time, but don't go anywhere, I'd hate to have to vent the ducts again."
I cringed at her words, but eventually found that I was completely exhausted after all of this. I didn't know what time it was, what day it was, or even where I was in relation to the rest of Space. I didn't know if we were on the scavenger ship again, or some other ship. The design of this ship seemed to suggest another ship, but I knew nothing about any of this stuff.
"Bet this is some sort of whacked out prison ship." Tenile noted, running her fingers along the walls.
"I don't think you'll find any weaknesses, looks sturdier than the last one at least." I mused, deciding that the small bed thing would be a good place to lie down. This was going to be interesting, there was only one bed and barely enough room on it for one person, let alone two.
"Shut up, I'm busy."
I looked at her and rolled my eyes. "Doing what?"
She turned to look at me and raised an eyebrow. "Well, I don't know about you, but I believe that the Doctor will blow up this ship, with us on it or not, so I intend to die with art around me, is that okay with you?"
"This place is a bit drab isn't it?" I quickly asked, looking around the tiny cell.
Tenile nodded and pulled some chalk and a texta out of her back pocket. I shook my head. "What have you got a TARDIS in there?"
Tenile grinned back at me, "that line used to be, 'have you used an enlargement spell'. You're moving up in the world big sis."
I shook my head at her, "difference is, TARDIS real, Harry Potter not real."
Tenile shrugged, "still nice to see, you know, you're different."
I frowned, "what do you mean by that… different?"
Tenile shrugged, not looking at me, but where she was currently drawing a flower on the wall in chalk. "I can't really describe it, but just like your confidence, or maybe it's the fact that you have more of an open mind?"
I watched the movement of her arms as she continued to draw. I loved watching her draw, I wished I could draw, but alas, that side of the family gene skipped my father and me and went to Tenile, she was brilliant, just like our Grandmother.
"Is that a frangipani?" I asked, leaning up on the bed to get a better view.
Tenile nodded and continued drawing, "figured we could have some of your favourites and some of mine, no idea if we will be stuck here for the rest of our lives, die, or be rescued, but I am prepared for all occasions… maybe, don't really know yet."
I raised an eyebrow at her. "How could you not know something like that?"
"Haven't really had a chance to test it out, have I?" She asked, as I pouted and fell back onto the bed.
"Hey, I have some food if you're hungry."
I looked up at her and shrugged, "yeah, why not, haven't eaten at all today. Speaking of which, technically I haven't eaten in three days, no wonder I'm hungry."
Tenile laughed and pulled a bunch of things out of her pockets, chips, a couple of juice boxes, a bag of biscuits, a small bottle of water and what looked like vinegar.
I stared at the items and then at Tenile. "Are you kidding me with this Tenile?" I asked, gapping at the variety, or lack thereof. How had she fit all of this on her pockets and when had she done so?
"I'm waiting for the Zombie Apocalypse."
I rolled my eyes and reached for the biscuits. "These're stale. What is wrong with you?"
Tenile shrugged, "take it or leave it. I'm having the chips, you picked the biscuits, they're yours. No swapsies."
I could already tell this was going to be a very long wait.
DWPC
The Doctor walked around the TARDIS. He had to do something to stop June and the rest of her cohort. He should have known something was up just by the way she was acting, how thick was he? He'd been spending too much time around jelly brains.. All he could really do other than convincing them to not do it, would be to blow the ship up and he could only do that from the inside, which was very unfortunate. He happened to like living, but there was very little he could do about it. He'd already dropped Tenile and Teigan home, they were safe so he wasn't going to have to worry about Tenile stumbling around and pressing buttons, or Teigan falling over herself to try and stop him. He'd used their kindness and curiosity far too much already; he owed them a safe life.
"Did I do the right thing?"
The hum of the TARDIS seemed to be his answer, though if the flickering lights were any indication, the TARDIS seemed to disagree.
"Well what would you have me do?"
Again the TARDIS lights flickered and a picture of the girls came up on the screen.
"I should go back for them?"
The hum beneath the Doctor's feet seemed to indicate her agreement with the proposition. The Doctor shook his head.
"I can't go back for them, they need to be safe."
The TARDIS lurched, throwing the Doctor over the console and onto the chair.
"Would you please not do that?!"
The TARDIS lurched again, this time throwing the Doctor back onto his feet and up against the console.
"What is wrong with you?"
Again the pictures of Teigan and Tenile flashed on the scanner and the Doctor shook his head.
"You know my rules; I have to keep them safe."
Instead of lurching, the TARDIS just stopped, knocking the Doctor to the ground with a thud. The Doctor sighed, stood up and went to the door, just as he suspected, he was situated in the paddock.
He turned back and banged on the door. "Don't do this to me, I swear I'm sorry, but don't do this."
The TARDIS doors remained closed and the Doctor sighed. He looked over his shoulder and down the street. He couldn't remember the last time he had retrieved a companion from their house, in fact he wasn't really sure he had even done that since Amy, but considering it was a little different with her, this was definitely a first. Had not Teigan told him, he would be dealing with a lot of firsts? That included Teigan, who was extremely stubborn and curious as well as unsure and the addition of her younger sister Tenile, who wasn't even considered an adult yet.
"I'm really going to pay you back for this." He told the TARDIS as he turned around and made his way down the street to the house. He remembered it from what the TARDIS had shown him before, when he had first asked Teigan to accompany him.
When he got to the house, he stood in the front yard for a while, looking at the house and wondering what he was going to say. He had just left the girls out in the paddock after all.
"Can I help you?"
The Doctor turned around to see a short, plump woman standing behind him. He suddenly grew nervous and rubbed the back of his neck. This woman oozed an authority he wasn't used to since Rose's mother and she looked exactly as Teigan had described her. "Ah, yes, are you Teigan's mother?"
The woman nodded and walked around the Doctor to the house. "You had better come in."
The Doctor was a little taken a back, more than a little. This woman he had just met was asking him into her home. He could definitely see where Teigan had gotten that from then. He followed the woman in and she offered him coffee, which he good-naturedly declined and stood awkwardly in the lounge room.
"Just sit. I need to have a chat with you."
The Doctor didn't really know what was going on, but he did as she asked anyway, something told him that crossing this woman was not in his best interests.
The woman walked back into the lounge room with her own coffee and sat on the chair across from him. She sipped her coffee and then placed it on the table beside her. "Why were you standing outside my house?"
"Ah, yes… sorry about that. I was looking for someone. I'm the Doctor-"
"Yes… I thought you might be."
The Doctor leaned forward, "I'm sorry, has Teigan said something to you about me?"
The woman nodded, she seemed upset, but there was more below the surface, anger, hurt? This woman had too many emotions to deal with, he wished he knew what to say.
"Not in the usual way, no. She did mention your name when she came back after missing for three days, but-"
"I'm sorry, three days? Are you sure it was three days, I could have sworn… sorry, yes, of course you're sure… I'll just, um… go on."
"When they disappeared again, I went looking in Teigan's room-"
"They're gone? Gone where?"
"I was hoping they might have been with you… but seeing you here obviously means they're not."
The Doctor shook his head and that seemed to urge the Mother into continuing her story.
"So I was looking in her room, and I found this." She held up what looked like a diary. "Teigan's travel journal. She's always had one, ever since she was little, she keeps it so that when she goes somewhere, she can write it down and always remember it. She sometimes adds little pictures, but your travels are, mostly, unphotographed."
The Doctor nodded, "I don't tend to allow cameras, especially when we're in the past, never know who might find it. I barely like them bringing their phones… sorry, I have a habit of doing that, please continue."
The woman nodded and placed the journal on the table beside her. "At first I thought it was one of the many stories she writes, but then she explained about her cuts and scratches, the bruise on her hip, the reason her weak ankle was suddenly not weak anymore. The random person at her grandmother's death, it sort of all just came together."
The Doctor smiled, he always knew Teigan was clever, she prepared, in case she ever did have to explain to her mother, she would have an easier time of it.
"I don't know if you knew this, but she has souvenirs from all of her adventures with you."
The Doctor looked at the woman and blinked. "I don't believe that, she's told me that she wants to leave, says she still hasn't decided."
"She wrote that in here too, says that for the first time, she had feared for her life… felt that she wasn't safe…"
The Doctor closed his eyes, it was terrible to think that he had made her feel that way, he hated when his friends felt they weren't safe anymore.
"…met you."
The Doctor's eyes snapped open. "Sorry, what did you say?"
"I said, she felt like she was not going to ever be able to go through something like that again, but then she saw you the way you were acting, trying to keep things under wraps, she felt safe again, she'd never felt like that until the day she met you. You expanded her confidence Doctor, even I've been noticing a difference, I just thought that it was something to do with her studies."
The Doctor was again thrown for a whirlwind. He was sure that Teigan was adamant about leaving, she had even told him as much. Maybe he wasn't as good at picking up on people's emotions as he used to be.
"She loves travelling with you, Doctor, no matter what she says, I know my daughter, she has never been this interested in anything, whatever you've done, you've opened her eyes, I may not like the places you have been taking her, but even I have to admit she is a better person for it."
The Doctor nodded, "do you have any idea where she is now, Tenile is gone as well, is that correct?"
"Yes, they were together, here in the lounge room, a couple of Police officers came around not long after they returned, they missed Christmas by the way, thank you for that."
The Doctor looked sheepish and spread his arms apologetically, before allowing her to continue.
"They told us to wait outside and then the whole room was just quiet, when we went to see what was happening they were gone. It was like they just vanished."
The Doctor stopped to think for a moment. "Do you remember anything that might have happened before then? Anyone hanging around outside?" He asked as he stood up and started moving his sonic around the room, examining the room for evidence of teleports or something of that nature.
"Well, not really, there was only the Police woman, a Detective, she came round a lot, she was the one working on the missing persons case, a little weird, but alright, though she never went near my kitchen."
The Doctor paused in what he was doing. "Was there anything about her that stuck out to you? A particular smell? Sound? The way she spoke?"
The woman, whose name the Doctor suddenly remembered was Gail, tapped her fingers on the arm of her chair before sighing. "I don't really know if this would mean anything to you, but she was rather… uh, flatulent and uh, it wasn't the normal sort of… smell one would expect."
The Doctor's eyes narrowed. "Don't tell me… it was like bad breath, am I right?"
Gail nodded, and the Doctor immediately thrust his screwdriver back into the pocket of his jacket, growling slightly.
"I'm sorry, Mrs Kaster, but I need you to go and get me something vinegary. Anything will do."
Gail walked into the pantry and brought out a bottle of apple cider. "I have this, it's Teigan's favourite, but I'm sure she won't mind, what do you want it for?"
"Have to go and drown a rat."
With that, the Doctor headed out of the house and back to the TARDIS. As he approached, the TARDIS doors swung open and the Doctor immediately put the coordinates into the TARDIS and she immediately materialised on the Scavenger ship. The Doctor had an appointment to keep and he very much did not want to be late.
DWPC
I flexed my legs as I leaned them up against the walls of the cell. Nothing had happened for nearly five hours. I wasn't even sure anymore if we were alive or dead. What did death feel like? I really hoped it wasn't this boring. I sighed.
"If you sigh… one more time… this chalk is going up your nose."
I swung my legs around and sat up on the bed. "I'm sorry! I'm just so god damn bored. I have nothing to do, I'm hungry. At least you have something to entertain you."
"Then get up and do something! You're buzzing my joy!"
Tenile turned her back to me and continued on with her masterpiece. She was now currently drawing an owl in a tree and I had to wonder how much more she was going to draw. This was ridiculous.
"How much are you going to draw anyway? Can I ask that? Is that allowed?"
Tenile looked over her shoulder at me. "I'll draw as much as I want, or until I get out, whichever comes first."
I nodded and yawned. I somehow thought it was getting late, for me anyway, time travelling was definitely hard. I couldn't keep a track of anything, man this was annoying. I was really going to have to get the Doctor to sonic my phone again; it didn't like to tell the time anymore.
"Righto, well, let's just hope we get out eventually, I would rather not die here, if that's alright with you."
Tenile nodded and I leaned back on the bed, that was really just a strange mattress, though it wasn't any kind of mattress that I'd ever had before, it moulded to my body, completely, it was so strange.
"You should really try out this mattress, Tenile, it's great."
Tenile scowled at me. "There could be all sorts of things on that mattress, namely you." She said, drawing the branches without even looking, "I would rather not, you might get diseased, I get sick enough as it is, don't wanna add snot flu to the list."
I rolled my eyes and sat up, leaning against the wall. "Suit yourself. But I'm telling you, you're going to regret…" I stopped and stood up. I could no longer feel the ground beneath me moving. We were on a ship and up until now, I had been able to feel the engines, which had told me that we were very near to them, but now, I could feel nothing.
"Hey, Tenile… we've stopped moving."
Tenile looked at me, "what do you mean we've stopped moving, of course we haven't."
I shook my head, and pulled her over to me, "feel the floor, it's not vibrating anymore, we've stopped moving… well, the engines are off at least."
Tenile did as I asked and looked back at me stunned, "you're right… but what does that mean? What happened? Do you think it's the Doctor?"
I shrugged. "I have no idea, I'm going to see if we can get out of here."
I walked over to the invisible thing, the red light was still on, so I didn't know what that meant. I reached out my hand and immediately jumped back with a yelp when my hand touched the invisible door.
Tenile ran over, "you okay?"
I nodded and rubbed my hand that was throbbing and red. "Wow, that looks bad. Did a good job didn't I?"
Tenile held my hand and was looking at it, she poked a couple of places, making me wince as she did so.
"Oh stop being such a baby."
I glared at her, "why don't you go and touch it then?"
Tenile snorted, "'coz I'm not that stupid. That's what you're for."
I rolled my eyes at her, "well what are we going to do then, we can't stay in here for ever, we have to find the-" The ship suddenly jolted, causing Tenile and myself to fall into each other and then onto the floor.
"Get off!" Tenile pushed me off of her and stood up, leaving me on the ground. "I wonder what that was."
I looked up at her, "It felt like we got hit by something or maybe it was like evasive manoeuvres?" I asked, pushing myself up and onto the mattress.
Tenile shrugged, "something's going on, I can hear alarms."
I stood up and headed over to Tenile, near the door. "Yeah, I can too, what do you suppose is happening?"
"I don't know, but get back, something's happening."
We jumped back; the door was flickering in and out of sight. We could hear a noise coming from outside the door and hurried footsteps rushed past. Footsteps that we couldn't see. We could only hear.
"Well something is happening out there!" I had to yell because whatever was happening outside our cell was extremely loud.
"Watch out!"
Tenile pulled me back as the door suddenly sizzled and seemed to explode. The ensuing lights caused us to cover our eyes from the brightness.
"The door is down, we should go."
DWPC
Another RoboForm sizzled as the Doctor continued down the corridors of the Scavenger vessel, pocketing his sonic screwdriver. He managed to slip past another group of patrolling RoboForm's and snuck down one of the offhand shafts, he needed to get to the control room, to use the weapons system and knock the Raxacoricofallapatorian war ship around a little, maybe enough to disrupt their systems, help the girls get out of whatever cage they've been thrown into.
At first the Doctor had thought that they were on the Scavenger ship, but after looking around a little, it had become quite clear that they weren't here, it made much more sense to have them on the other ship. Unfortunately he was cut off from the TARDIS at this point and so he was going to have to do something else to get them out. Hopefully they would figure out what he wanted them to do, if he could get access to the other control room from here, he might be able to light their way to the escape pods, at least he could try in any case.
Moving down through one of the subsections, the Doctor pulled out his sonic screwdriver and made sure to sonic lock the doors as he passed through each one. It wasn't going to completely stop them, but it would damn well give him some time. The fact that he was able to get through here so easily had not gone unnoticed and it was making him nervous, his only conclusion was that there was a bunch of them waiting for him to show up in the control room and try to stop all of this. He had already delayed their neutron capture by rewriting the codes, but the battle was far from over. Blowing the ship up would have been so much simpler, but he couldn't really go doing that now, not without killing Teigan and Tenile.
The Doctor leaned against the wall and looked around the corner. As he had thought, there were a couple of groups of RoboForm's and he could see through them, June, the leader of the group. He wanted to get his hands on her, he needed to know exactly where his companions were being held, if he knew for certain, he would know where to steer clear of when everything started. The last order of business would be to disable this ship, but that could wait, he had to get the girls first.
When the RoboForm's were looking the other way, the Doctor stepped out and lifted his sonic, aiming it at the group of thirty or so RoboForm's. They had been called Pilot fish once, but they were much more involved in all of this and he held them just as guilty as their masters. No more fun and games.
"Alright, who's first?"
The RoboForm's turned around and all pointed their guns at the Doctor, but he wasn't worried.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you, one shot from that cannon you've got will disrupt the polarity of my Screwdriver and blow this whole place to dust."
June called over from the back. "You wouldn't dare."
"Wouldn't I? Why don't you just shoot, and we can both find out."
June stared at the Doctor for several minutes before ordering the RoboForm's to lower their weapons. She had seen something in the eyes of the Doctor that she had never thought to see. Complete and total disregard for her life. It was something she was not accustomed to seeing, and something she hoped never to see again.
"Alright Doctor, you win, come on in."
The Doctor did not lower his screwdriver and walked cautiously into the room. He continued to hold his screwdriver at arm's length, aiming it at anything that would be useful. In this case, at the twenty or so other guards that occupied this room. Damn did this woman like her guns.
"I want to know why you lied, June."
June sighed but did not seem inclined to answer the question. Instead she let out a strange sound and two of the guards brought in some chairs and a table with tea. The Doctor shook his head and backed away a little. "Not this time I'm afraid June, you tricked me, I will only allow you to get away with that once. I don't appreciate having to come back and fix something I initially screwed up and I especially don't appreciate people kidnapping my friends."
June smiled and seated herself in one of the chairs, pouring herself some tea. At this point she was back in her skin suit, which made it easier for the Doctor to read her face, but it was still difficult. He wasn't as apt at it as he used to be after all.
"Well, Doctor, truth be told, I thought you would come and save them, stopping your plans to destroy my ship in the process. Teigan disagreed with me and seemed to think that you would blow it anyway. Guess who was right."
The Doctor's nostrils flared for a second before he regained his composure and lowered his screwdriver back into his pocket, though he still did not advance on June. "Well I guess you were right about one thing, June."
"What might that be Doctor?"
The Doctor smiled and casually took a step back, putting him within arm's reach of the room's decompression button. "I am going to save the girls."
June smiled. "I knew it, see? You are an old softie."
"But I am also going to destroy your ship." He threw all his weight onto the decompression button and held to the railing for dear life as the bay doors immediately thrust open. Everybody in the room that hadn't been able to grab something went flying out of the room, most of them had not even enough time to scream or cry out before they were no longer inside the ship. Once the emergency protocols activated, the room resealed itself and only the Doctor, a couple of RoboForm's and June were left alive.
"Now, tell me where the girls are." The Doctor growled, standing over June, looking every bit the terrifyingly powerful Time Lord that he was.
June faltered and for the first time, the Doctor saw a glimpse of fear and recognition in her eyes. "I should have listened, you really are every bit the powerful god!" She covered her eyes with her hands to stop from looking at him. "They're below level three, above the engine room to the left of the communications array. Figured it was best to put them in plain sight! Please don't kill me!?"
The Doctor left the room before she had even finished her sentence. Now he knew where he was going and he knew how to rescue his friends.

Tenile and I dodged through the groups of running aliens and robots and eventually came to what looked like a sort of grate on the side of the wall. We had been following lights and doors for the past couple of minutes. I couldn't be entirely sure, but I was pretty hopeful about it being the Doctor, after all if it wasn't him, then I didn't even want to think about where it was trying to send us.
"Here's good, we need to wait for the level to clear."
Tenile looked at me and frowned. "Is that supposed to be a ventilation shaft?"
I shrugged, "I don't know, maybe?"
"Why do we have to hide in it again?"
I shook my head, "you haven't been paying attention, some-one led us here, I am inclined to believe that it was the Doctor, don't ask how I know, it's more Faith than anything, but anyway, he has been using lights and doors to guide us, right now there is nothing, I've been hearing footsteps, it's only reasonable he wants us to find somewhere safe to hide for the time-"
"In a ventilation shaft?"
"Yes in a ventilation shaft. It's as good a place as any."
Tenile sighed and bent down beside me to help with the grate. My hand was still burnt and was now starting to blister where I had touched the door; it was painful to touch anything.
"Now we just need to get in there." Tenile told me as she stuck her head inside. "I can't see anything, it's way too dark."
"That's a good thing; they won't be able to see us either."
Tenile grumbled and slid into the shaft, I could tell that she wasn't very happy with this arrangement, but that didn't mean that I was going to let her off easy. She didn't have to come here, she had every opportunity to leave, at least until we got kidnapped anyway.
"Now be quiet, I don't want anyone to hear us." I whispered as I slid myself in. I was situated in front of her, as the shaft was only big enough for one person at a time, Tenile had to slide further back than I did, but at least I could see what was happening outside.
"See anything?"
I shook my head, only realising Tenile couldn't see me when she pinched my leg. "Ow! Sorry, no, not yet."
I heard some shuffling from behind me as Tenile tried to get comfortable, I had no idea how long we were supposed to wait in here for, but I knew that the Doctor would find a way of telling us it was safe to emerge.
"Anything yet?"
I shook my head, but this time remembered that it was dark and voiced myself as well. "No, still nothing, but don't worry, the Doctor will find us, I know he will."
I could almost hear the frown on Tenile's face as she sighed. "I wish I had as much faith in him as you seem too."
I smiled, "I have enough faith for the both of us."
"He seems like an arrogant, fearless man who thinks he has the powers of God at his fingertips."
I turned to look at Tenile this time, "doesn't he?"
She frowned, even though I couldn't see it, I could tell it was there. "What do you mean by that?"
"He travels through time and space, he's like a thousand years old, he's probably immortal or something. He helps people without ever asking for a thank you, he never stops, he never stays afterwards, what else would you call him?"
"An arrogant, fearless man who thinks he has the powers of God at his fingertips?"
I rolled my eyes and shook my head looking back in the direction of the corridor. By this point, the sound of running and yelling had died down. The fact that I could understand what was being said now told me everything I needed to know.
"The Doctor is somewhere close. Or at least the TARDIS is."
"How do you know?"
"I am starting to be able to understand what is being yelled. They are saying something about… I think June and maybe something about a laser… or lasers?"
I could hear Tenile shuffling along behind me and I was sure she was moving into a better position to be able to hear what was being said. "You're right, I can understand them now too, so how close would the TARDIS have to be?"
I shrugged, "I actually don't know, but I would say it would have to be on this ship, maybe the other one."
Tenile tapped my leg, "whatever is going on, I think we need to get a move on, this corridor isn't going to be clear for long."
I nodded, "I think your right, whatever has happened, I think we may be able to figure out what to do… wait, the lights are flickering again."
Tenile looked past me and nodded, because of the flickering lights, I could see Tenile's outline better. "I think we should get out now, come on."
I nodded to Tenile and moved to open the grate with my hands, wincing at the pain that surged up my arm. I was definitely going to need to take something for this, it was ridiculous. Eventually I was able to force the grate out and I stuck my head around to see if the area was clear.
"Do you think he is able to track us or something?" Tenile asked me as she helped me slide out of the shaft.
"I don't know, probably scanning for humans or something… I don't really know how or why he does the things he does, he just does them."
Tenile shook her head and looked up at the lights. "Well come on, we need to find out where we are going."
I nodded, "agreed, down this hall and to the left is where it seems to be leading us."
DWPC
"Okay, so he wants us here?"
I nodded and looked around the room, the ship was not moving around so violently anymore, but I could tell that there was still something going on outside. The sound of running was still prevalent outside of this room and I knew that we had to make a move before we got caught.
"I don't know what we're supposed to do now… I don't know where we go from here." I told Tenile as I looked around the mostly empty room. It was three walls, a door, a couple of control panels and what looked like a weird sort of machine.
"I don't know why we were brought here." I continued.
"Maybe it's something to do with that thing?" Tenile pointed to the machine that looked like a beaming pad out of Star Trek, though it was quite different.
"Is that a teleportation pad do you think?"
Tenile shrugged, "could be, I've never seen one but, have you?"
I shook my head, "not one that looked like this… the one I saw was just like a little mat thing, called a transmat… or something."
Tenile ran her fingers along the controls. "Maybe this will do something, one of these buttons?"
I immediately moved Tenile's hands away from the controls, ignoring the searing pain, and glared at her. "Don't touch those controls."
Tenile shrugged and smirked, "what? I usually pick the right button."
"You blew up an asteroid and got us arrested. I would not say that's the 'right button.'" I quoted the air with my fingers. "Just move away from there, go and stand on the thing, see if that triggers anything."
Tenile did as I asked and as soon as she stopped moving, she suddenly disappeared, like she was demolecularised, or something, it was similar to what I imagined would happen if all the bonds in molecules were broken down. It was pretty freaky actually. Knowing that it had been the Doctor's doing, I moved over to the transport pad and waited, unfortunately though, someone broke through the doors. Whatever was going on in the other ship, the Doctor had been stopped from transmatting me as well.
"Damn… I knew I shoulda gone first."
The RoboForm's grabbed me and twisted my arms behind me back. I winced, but after the initial handling, felt no more pain, until someone thought it fun to poke my blistered hand.
"Oi, watch it! That freaking hurt!"
It was obvious that the RoboForm's didn't really care as they just pulled me out of the room and marched down the corridor to another room, it looked like we were back in the control room from the looks of it, though it was not as empty as last time.
"Interesting to see you alone youngling."
I looked up at a big face on a computer screen. I was momentarily rendered speechless at the size of it, but the yucky brown colour propelled me out of my freeze and I glared at it.
"Who the hell are you?" I asked, standing in a stance I thought exuded confidence, when really I couldn't have been more scared.
"I am Utingle Moo Bob Trim-Wocren Huspick, Supreme Leader of the Raxacoricofallapatorian Federation of Planetary Bodies."
I blinked at him and had to cough to hide my laughter. "Did you say 'you tingle'?"
The face seemed to frown at me and I dipped my head in apology. "Sorry, that was uncalled for, I'll be more careful."
"See that you are youngling. I still have use of you, but do not think that protects you from my wrath."
I breathed slowly to calm my fears and looked the computer in the face. "Am I to assume you are the one the Doctor spoke to before?"
"Yes, that was I. I had felt that I needed to meet the man, of course I did not appear in this form, at that point, I was only lines on a screen."
I nodded, "you are still on your planet, right?"
Another nod. "So what do you want with me? What am I supposed to do?"
A laugh this time, I struggled to contain my disgust at the strange sound that came from him. "Silly human, the only thing I want you to do is wait."
"What?"
"Yes, the Doctor will discover your troubles, and come and find you. I'm sorry, I'm really sorry, but I can't let you know where you are going either, don't want that silly blue box of his to be able to locate you."
I felt a sharp pain at the back of my head and then nothing.
DWPC
The Doctor frowned down at the console. "It doesn't seem to recognise my commands anymore."
Tenile looked at him and frowned. "What do you mean? Teigan's still over there, you have to get her back!"
The Doctor looked at Tenile and groaned. "I know that, but the console has shut down, they regained control."
"Well take control back! Just press random buttons or something!"
The Doctor shook his head at her. He had to wonder why he had allowed her in the TARDIS in the first place; she was of absolutely no help to him at all. Where was Teigan when he needed her?
"Pressing random buttons never helped us, especially where you are involved, do me a favour and shut up."
Tenile just stared at him as he continued to run scans and shake his head. She was worried about Teigan, she wanted her sister back, but this man was not helping her nerves, not at all.
"Okay, I'm sorry; just tell me you have some idea of what to do?"
The Doctor shook his head. "Sorry, but I don't. We are going to have to physically go over there and get her out. Do you know of anything we could use to locate her?"
Tenile shook her head. "All she has is an injured hand, that's not going to be much help."
The Doctor frowned. "It's likely to slow her down a little though, I imagine it was part of the reason the two of you took so long to get there in the first place?"
Tenile nodded and rubbed her hand. "She burnt this part of her hand when she put it into the laser door. She was trying to see if it was still turned on. As you can imagine, it was."
The Doctor rolled his eyes, "so much intelligence that girl, but no brains."
Tenile nodded, "you seem to have gotten to know her quite well. She's always been like that though. Let's go rescue my sister!"
The Doctor nodded and pressed a button on the console that caused the Transmat to light up.
"I thought you had no control over it?"
"I don't but I can reengage the transmat to take us to the last place it teleported, which is the lead ship. You ready?"
Tenile shook her head and stepped up onto the mat. "I'm going to have to be aren't I. Just hurry up."
The Doctor pulled out his sonic screwdriver and stepped up onto the mat next to Tenile. Pointing his screwdriver at the console he proceeded to use it to trigger the demolecularisation process sending them across the small section of space and into the transmat room of the scavenger ship.
Tenile stepped off of the transmat and would have fallen to the ground if the Doctor had not grabbed her.
"Careful, that's the rapid demolecularisation taking effect."
Tenile caught her bearings and nodded to the Doctor to let her go. "I'm fine, I'm good, let's just get out of here, I want my sister back."
The Doctor nodded as he lead Tenile out of the room and back into the corridors. "Should be easier this time, I'm not using lights and doors to lead you."
Tenile didn't answer him, she kept her head forward looking around for signs of where Teigan could be. She saw what looked like scuff marks on the ground, like something was dragged past. She pointed it out to the Doctor. "Over here, these look like scuff marks… same colour as Teigan's boots too."
The Doctor kneeled down beside Tenile and examined the scuff mark. He pulled something out of his pocket that looked like a laser and pointed it at the mark, analysing it and then putting it in front of his face he nodded. "Yes, that is Teigan. Traces of dirt from your paddock as well as carpet fibres."
"What is that thing?"
The Doctor handed it to Tenile and pointed to a couple of the switches. "It's a portable scanner, I recently acquired it. Haven't really used one before, a younger me used to guess, or lick things… I decided I no longer wanted to do that so I got myself one of these, nice birthday present for me. These two buttons here turn it from a maximum level to a minimum level, the levels need to be changed depending on the thing being scanned. It works best on organics but it can scan non organics as well, just takes a little longer. This button you can use to send out a small sonic pulse, I modified it just a little, however once you've used the sonic pulse, the scanner has to recharge, you will be unable to use it again, so only use it if you really need it."
Tenile blinked, "why are you telling me this?"
"Because I have to go and disable this ship, I disabled the other one, now this is the problem, I have to stop it. I'll meet you back at the TARDIS, but if I don't…" he reached into his pocket and pulled out what looked like a key, "use this, the TARDIS will take you back home."
The Doctor held it out for Tenile to take, but she refused. "Keep it; I know you'll be joining us."
"But-"
"No buts, if you don't come back, we aren't leaving without you, so you'll just have to come back… unless you want us to die?"
The Doctor sighed and put the key back in his pocket. "Stubborn, the lot of you. Don't know why I bother, I never had this problem with K9."
Tenile rolled her eyes, "deal with it, it's your fault we're like this. Now, how do I make this thing turn on?"
DWPC
Tenile continued on down the corridors, having left the Doctor back at the intersection. She was currently following the traces of Earth dirt that the scanner had picked up, it had led her to the console room and then to a bunch of random corridors that had not ended up leading anywhere. She was actually getting rather frustrated. She stared up at the ceiling of the corridor she was currently in.
"Where've they put my sister? Where is she huh? Where?"
Not having really expected an answer, Tenile was not surprised to be met with complete silence on the ceilings part. She sighed and looked back down at the scanner. "You couldn't have left me more clues, Teigs? Not a note or somethi-" she stopped, there was something on the ground, it looked like hair, or maybe a fibre from her shirt. Was it torn off? Tenile bent over it and popped the scanner out, analysing the piece of thread and nearly yelling in gratitude when it registered as the Christmas jumper Teigan had been wearing.
"Oh thankyou space gods!"
Tenile kicked up her speed a notch and then stopped dead as she came face to face with one of the RoboForm's. She frowned and looked around for something to use, however she was swiftly apprehended but was able to hide the scanner in her pocket before they found it.
"God damn you lot! Leave me alone."
They proceeded to ignore Tenile and she kicked and pulled at them as they took her down the rest of the way through the corridor. Tenile made sure to remember where they were going, so when she found Teigan she would be able to leave straight away, she also had to remember how to use the transmat, but she figured the scanner would know how, if not, they were in trouble.
"June! I knew you couldn't be trusted!"
June looked up from where she was standing, in her true form once again.
"What are you doing here human?"
Tenile sneered. "Is that a hint of annoyance I detect there, Snotty?"
June glared at her, Tenile just snickered and looked around the room, it had wires visible and parts of the wall were falling apart. "Nice place you got here, Snotty, did you just move in?"
"Silence Human, I will not have talking from you. I am busy."
Tenile rolled her eyes but listened, at least for a moment. "Look June, I really don't want to hurt you, but I need to find Teigan, I will do what I have to."
Tenile pulled a bottle of vinegar out of her pocket. "The Doctor told me about your carbonness. Carbon based lifeforms; they don't react well with vinegar do they?"
June took a visible step back. It was obvious to Tenile that he was right. "You wouldn't dare. You don't have the stomach."
Tenile stared her down. "Maybe not, but do you really wanna try me?"
"I don't really think you are capable." June stepped towards her and Tenile immediately threw the vinegar at her.
"Sorry! I warned you!" Tenile ran out of the room and continued looking for Teigan.
DWPC
I sat on the bed rubbing my wrists. Those damn RoboForm's had definitely done a number on them, they weren't red raw, far from that, but they were definitely painful. I sighed and walked up to the door of the cell, this one wasn't invisible or anything, but it was like a sort of mirror, I could see out, but others could not see in, however, I was fairly sure I could be heard if I shouted.
As I looked out through the mirror door, I kept sighing at the lack of anything happening outside. I didn't even know how long I had been here and my head was still throbbing. I was so angry that they had knocked me out like that. What on earth did they think they were doing? It was incredibly rude for one thing and simply not done.
I sighed and sat back on the bed before hearing a commotion outside. I didn't know what was going on, but I got up to look anyway. There was someone running around, looking at everything frantically.
"Tenile?" I banged on the door, hoping she would hear me.
"Tenile!" I continued to bang on the door with my good hand, I needed her to hear me, I didn't want to be stuck here again.
Eventually she seemed to have been able to hear me because she stopped and listened.
"Tenile! Right beside you! Right here!" I kicked the door, she was right there, please God let her hear me.
"Teigan?" I heard her say, turning to look at the mirror. "Are you behind this mirror? Is that it?"
I pounded on the door again in answer of her question. "Turn around you twit! Come on I'm right here!"
Tenile frowned, "gosh, no need to be rude, I'm here to rescue you and that's how you treat me, aren't you just the nicest thing?"
I sighed and rolled my eyes, "just break this thing; I have nothing in here to do it!"
Tenile nodded, "stand back, I don't know how far this will go." Tenile pulled out some sort of device and pressed a button on it. A strange sound started emanating from it and I was thrown backwards against the wall. Bits of the ceiling and the wall fell on top of me and I threw my hands up to protect my head.
Tenile rushed in, looking slightly worse for wear herself. "Sorry! I didn't know it was going to do that!"
I rubbed my legs, arms and head as she pulled me up. We were both going to have some interesting bruises to explain. "That is not what that thing is used for."
"How do you know?"
"Because the Doctor isn't stupid enough to give you something like that."
"But he di-"
"He obviously had no idea what you were going to do with it." I countered, cutting her off and effectively ending the conversation.
"Well, come on, we have to get back to the transmat place."
I frowned, "that's where I got caught, is it safe?"
Tenile nodded, but she didn't elaborate, but then, I also didn't ask.
"Okay, well, we better get a move on, where's the Doctor?"
Tenile looked away, "he'll meet us at the TARDIS, do you know how to use the transmat thing?"
I shrugged, "pretty sure I could figure it out with a manual. We should stop by the control room first."
"But that's where the Doctor is…"
"He would be in the central control room yes, but we want the auxiliary control room, otherwise known as, storage centre four."
"Why would they-"
"I have no idea, but they did, so let's just get out of here and go and find that control room. Or storage centre."
Tenile nodded and we proceeded out of the cell and down through the corridors, my limping slowing us down.
DWPC
Walking into the transport room, I looked around for the right console. "So where did you say the Doctor was going to meet us?"
"TARDIS. He offered to give me a key to get in," I looked at her about to say something, she held up her hands for me to let her finish, "but I didn't take it, told him he was just going to have to make sure that he came back, that way we wouldn't have to use the key."
I smirked, "oh I bet he loved that idea."
"Did grind on him a little yeah. I was kind of surprised he offered to give me the key though."
I shook my head at her as I limped over to the right controls. "I'm not surprised. I mean you did only just meet him but I'm sure he doesn't want you to die. Maybe you should've taken one though, I don't have a key."
Tenile rolled her eyes. "I thought he hated me."
I laughed slightly, pressing a couple of buttons in the sequence I had memorised from the manual in the storage room. "He doesn't hate you; I don't think he could possibly ever hate anyone."
"What about the aliens that are currently trying to destroy our planet."
"I don't really think he hates them to be honest, he seems, at least to me, the kind of person that is very hard of trusting, but when he trusts you it is extremely hard to break it, like he is always ready for disappointment. When you think about it, if you are always expecting the worst of everyone, how could you hate someone for doing exactly what you expect of them?"
Tenile nodded, stepping closer to peer over my shoulder. "I suppose that does make sense, so that means we have to be careful then, yeah?"
I nodded, then I looked over at Tenile, "but I don't think there is anything that we could possibly do that would get him to stop trusting us, if we just don't do something out of the ordinary, I'm sure it would be pretty simple to keep his trust."
I turned back to the task at hand and leaned over to get a better look at the buttons. Eventually I found the right one and I smiled to myself. "That should just about do it then, shall we… Doctor!"
The Doctor came running into the room, pointing his screwdriver at the console and yelling at us to hurry onto the transmat. We did as we were told and I immediately found myself being held up by both the Doctor and Tenile.
"What just happened?"
The Doctor opened his mouth to speak but Tenile beat him to it. "The transmat screws with your head a little, plus the Doctor set the ship to auto destruct after making sure that most of the crew were heading for the escape pods, we have to hurry, we have about two minutes until it self-destructs."
The Doctor and Tenile dragged me along as we ran for the TARDIS. I never noticed until this moment, just how unfit I was, I was definitely going to the gym or something, this was getting ridiculous. I looked over at Tenile and from the look on her face; I could see that she might agree with me.
"How… much… further?" I puffed as we took a left and then a right.
"Nearly there, just through these doors." The Doctor said sonicing the doors open and rushing over to open the TARDIS. Once it was open, the three of us rushed in and Tenile closed the doors behind us, the Doctor already over at the console and getting ready to get out of here.
DWPC
We watched on as both the scavenger ship and the other ship blew into hundreds of millions of pieces. There were escape pods still floating around and the Doctor quickly made sure there was a ship nearby before getting us the hell away from there. I smiled as the Doctor came over to us to check for any injuries.
"Hmm, you have third degree burns on your hand, lacerations on your wrists, bruised hip, again, a twisted ankle, and some minor abrasions on your face and arms, not bad for someone who nearly died today. Looks like you also got hit in the head with something right? There's a deep wound back here too."
He then looked over at Tenile, "you have some badly bruised ribs, scrapes on your hands and knees and some abrasions on your back, the two of you are pretty fragile, aren't you?"
I laughed lightly before leaning against the wall, the cool of it helped my throbbing head. "Well, we were never really outdoorsy kinds of people, I'm pretty sure it accounts for our lack of tan."
The Doctor almost smiled and helped me and Tenile up, walking us down the corridor and into the medical bay.
"Oh I don't like this place." Tenile whined scrunching up her face.
"Tough, I need to fix you guys up a bit and seeing as this would be hard to explain in a human hospital and you don't have identi-cards for any other hospitals, this will have to do."
"It's fine Tenile, he has a real medical degree."
Tenile looked at him, clearly stunned. "You do? Under what name?"
"None of your business, but rest assured, I know more about your anatomy than you do, promise I wouldn't do anything that might make all this worse, I won't even give you out of space medicine if you don't want me to."
Tenile eventually agreed and a couple of hours later we were almost back to normal.
"So the bruises will remain for a while, because you won't let me give you Anaprefron, but, you should be fine in all other aspects."
Tenile smiled slightly and slid off of the bed. "Guess we should be going now then?" She looked over at me and I nodded for her to go on ahead.
The Doctor turned to me. "Have you decided yet?"
I nodded, but made sure my face revealed nothing as I talked this through. "I thought about it for a very long time… it's not a decision I made lightly mind you, thinking back, this conclusion was always going to come, I don't know why I had to think about it for so long…"
The Doctor sighed and was about to walk out, "I'll go and get some stuff... what?"
His eyes widened and I smiled. "I would like to stay… if the option is still open."
The Doctor's eyes seemed to light up. I almost thought he was going to smile again, but was disappointed when he didn't. "Of course it is, always!"
I thought he was about to hug me so I held up my hands in defence of my personal space. "Oi, no hugs unless it's an emergency, like you really need one or something, I don't just go giving out hugs. I do have one condition to this little deal though…"
The Doctor nodded, "anything, name it."
"I want Tenile to have free reign to come and go as she pleases."
The Doctor looked like he was going to protest, but I held up a hand again, "if you say no, deals off."
He stayed very still for a few moments; I could almost see the cogs turning in his head. "Fine, but if she stuffs up that badly again, she goes straight back home."
I grinned at him and jumped into a hug. "You won't regret it!"
At that moment Tenile walked back in. "You know, you never did take me to Ancient Greece… Is this ship even all that reliable?"
The Doctor sighed. "I already think I might." He muttered so that only I could hear.
