A/N: Sorry for the delay. Real life keeps getting in my way. Not all that happy with this work. That is part of what is taking so long to write. ssdub this is for you.

"Spencer, it's so good to see you." Hannah smiled. "Do you have any plans at the moment?"

"No." Spencer answered looking down at his hands.

Hannah stood up. "Good. You'll come to out to dinner. Want a push?"

"Push. Wait, dinner?" Spencer tried to turn around to get a better look at his current driver.

"I'm on my way to meet Tracy Magro, Christopher Brand, Isabella Reyes, and Paul Keegan."

Spencer thought about the mentioned names. He remembered the group from school. They never fit into one specific clique. They were more transient, moving from one group to another group, but never really fitting in. He had classes with all of them and they never picked on him.

Isabella had the locker next to his, and often was the one who let him out of said locker after the jocks locked him inside. She was also in chorus and on the debate team. Chris played baseball for the school, but also did work study in the library to earn money for his single dad and four sibilings.

Tracy and Paul were both on the debate team with Isabella, and Paul also played baseball. Tracy was in band with Hannah. Hannah also worked in the library and did tutoring, like Spencer did.

"I wouldn't want to impose." He attempted to get out of the meal. Spencer was barely comfortable around his friends while in the wheelchair. He wasn't sure he could handle being with mere acquaintances.

Unfortunately, Hannah would hear none of it. "It's Paul's restaurant. I'm sure we can make room for one more." And Spencer's wheelchair was pushed down the street. After a moment or two of silence Hannah spoke again. "I didn't realize you were coming to the reunion this year."

"Reunion? What reunion?" Spencer was truly clueless.

"Our 20th. Didn't you get the invite?"

"I haven't been home recently to check the mail." He tried to keep his voice neutral, not betraying what was really the reason he hadn't been home.

"So what are you doing in Vegas? I didn't think you still lived here."

"No, I came to visit my mom. It's been a while since I've visited."

"You were always such a sweet boy, well man now I guess. I bet you've changed the most since high school."

"Close to two feet. Hit my growth spurt at 14."

"At least yours was vertical, not horizontal like most of our classmates."

Although he wasn't looking at her, he could hear the smile in her voice. He pondered how pleasant Hannah's voice was. How it had a bit of an accent to it, almost a southern twang to it. He would have to ask her about it later.

Bringing his attention back to the present he saw Hannah had wheeled him into the lobby of one of the casinos. "I'll let you steer from here, it's not as crazy as it was on the street."

"Hannah, thank you. I don't know what I would have done without you."

"Probably has a massive panic attack." Hannah smiled at him again and moved in front of him to lead the way. Spencer couldn't help the smile on his face as he wheeled himself behind her.

Moving closer to a table towards to back, Hannah called to the people sitting. "I hope you don't mind, but I found someone to join us. I wonder how many of you can guess who he is?" Hannah moved away to allow Spencer to see exactly who was at the table.

None of them had changed much since high school. To him they still looked the same, maybe their weight had changed a bit, and they had some wrinkles now, but they were still the same people that he remembered seeing daily. "I don't know. He looks familiar." Paul said squinting as if that would help him see better.

"It's Spencer Reid." Isabella said, getting up, and bending over to give him a hug. "It is so good to see you. I didn't think you came to the reunions. I don't remember you at the 10 or 15."

Paul waved over a waiter and had them rearrange the table so there was another place setting and room for Spencer's chair. "I normally don't. But I happened to be in the area this time. And Hannah has kind of kidnapped me to join you for dinner." Spencer smirked.

Tracy also came over to give him a kiss on the cheek and the other men shook his hand. "How come I feel dirty kissing you Spencer?" She asked with a smirk to know she was joking.

"Because 20 years ago you would be arrested for sexual harassment of a minor." Christopher said.

"Very funny, Chris." Tracy commented giving the man a look. "You should make him sleep on the couch tonight for that." She directed towards Isabella.

"You and Chris?" Spencer inquired as he looked up at the two people.

"16 years last month." Isabella said as she sat back down.

Once everyone was seated conversation steered towards what everyone was doing for the past few years. Spencer spent most of the time just sitting, sipping his water and listening in on the conversation. This was new territory for him. These people were basically strangers to him.

"So Spencer, last I heard you were being recruited for some government project." Paul brought him back into the conversations.

"I heard it was NASA." Isabelle interjected.

"I work for the FBI. Profiling in the Behavior Analysis Unit." At the confused faces Spencer continued. "I help catch serial killers."

"That's cool. Why didn't they get you to speak at the reunion? I'm sure you have more important things to say than Dan Cumming." Paul commented again.

"I wasn't planning on coming." Spencer answer, not looking them in the eye.

"You can be my plus one." Hannah jumped in before anyone else made a comment.

"What happened to Robbie?" Isabella asked.

"Caught him sleeping with another guy."

"Ouch."

"At least you found sooner than later." Chris said.

"A year and half of my life, I won't get back."

"You can be single like me." Paul smiled.

"Tell that to my mom. She wants grandkids already."

"Say it sister." Isabelle commented with a look to Chris.

"What about you Spencer? Any lucky girls, guys?" Chris asked.

"Not at the moment. Work takes all my time."

"Now that is something I can relate to." Hannah commented.

"Here, here!" The rest of the table raised their glasses and took a drink.

Spencer couldn't help but smile. He felt relaxed and welcomed in the group. Not an outsider or different as he had in the past month with his team. Maybe this wasn't such a bad idea. He almost wanted to call Morgan and rub it into his face that he was having a good time.

"So where are you staying?" Paul asked.

"Don't know yet. This was a last minute trip."

"Let me get you a room then. He said taking out his cell phone. After a few minutes he hung in the phone. "All set. You are at the same hotel as Hannah."

"How-"

"Don't worry about it." Paul interrupted. "When you get to the hotel just tell the person at the desk your name and they will set you up."

"I can't accept this." Spencer was shocked.

"What good is having all these connections if I can't use them to help my friends? If not out of friendship then at least as an apology for not sticking up for you more in school. What those guys did to you wasn't right."

Spencer remembered a conversation he had once with Hotch about letting things go and the power of friendship. "The past is the past. I would like to consider all of you friends." He smiled at the group around him and took a sip of the water.

The main course was served then. As the night progressed he participated in the conversation and really thought that he could consider these people his friends. He was actually having a good time. Better than he thought he would. He was actually feeling normal, like he wasn't stuck in this chair for the rest of his life. It didn't seem to matter to these people. They treated him as if he was still a normal, able body person.

It was different than when he was with his team. Lately they handled him with kid gloves. He wanted to be treated like there was nothing wrong, like he could still do his job.
