AN: Seriously, this story has taken a mind of it's own. I'm not going on anything here at all, there's no plan for this story anymore. There are not enough details to make a story so I shall sit back and let the story do as it pleases. Sorry for the wait, there's a lot going on. All I needed was one email and that never got sent so this story is gonna be put on hold until the writers block goes away. But hey, here's another chapter for you to suffer with.
At some point the betas in Derek's pack leave for work or dates, Stiles isn't sure how he feels about them going on with their day to day life as if he hadn't shown up. A part of him fears that his old pack had been informed by this one and they'd be here soon. He saw Derek leave the room and call someone, he saw Scott do the same but Scott came back and explained his boss would be able to help. Then he calmly told Stiles to stay here while he went to his place of work, Stiles just nodded and accepted that. He stayed seated with Emily curled up to him, watching as a movie played for her. Slowly, the explanations stopped and Jackson took Lydia out because they had reservations at some restaurant. Laura took Cora out to train, Issac went out and the house was emptying. It left Stiles there alone with Emily and Derek somewhere upstairs. Stiles sits quietly, carding his fingers through the younger girl's hair. He looks down to her and shifts her slightly when he sees she's asleep. He lays her on the couch and pulls a blanket over her, running a hand over her head and smiling down at her. He stands and stretches, grabbing the two dirty plates from the table. All the betas basically force fed him after Emily had eaten. He brings them to the kitchen and stops, placing them on the counter and looking around.
He walks away and looks over to the sleeping girl, watching her sleep and sighs. He couldn't protect her but he didn't trust this pack either. At the same time, if Derek hasn't called already than there's no way they're going to. The pack would be livid if they found out Derek's pack had waited to call them. Derek's pack wouldn't stand a chance. There may be more but they weren't as strong, as put together. Derek wouldn't call. He grips the ring. If he can't get this off of his finger, he was running and he was leaving her here. She was safer here without him. She was safer without him. Period. He walks back to the sink and flicks it on, cold water pouring it out. He knows it's a long shot, he's tried it before. He's tried all those stupid tricks but he doesn't want to lose Emily. He can't lose Emily, she's all he has. All he's had for a while now. He shoves his hand under the water, hissing at the ice cold feeling and wrapping his fingers around the metal, twisting it between his thumb and forefinger. He bites back noises when he feels it sting and burn.
"That's not going to work." Derek says and Stiles turns to glare at the man, continuing to try.
"It's worth a shot." He growls back and Derek just raises a brow, watching Stiles scratch at the finger. "You aren't doing anything." Derek opens his mouth and then crosses his arms, eying Stiles and watching the man sob out in frustration or pain, he reeked of both.
"You need to calm down, you're going to wake her." Derek says, stepping to him and switching off the water, grabbing Stiles hand and examining the ring. "I fixed the guest room up for her. Scott's checking with his boss right now and we'll call in some help. You need to calm down before she can smell what the rest of us can. You're going to freak her out." Stiles swallows and pulls his hands to him.
"They'll find us." Stiles whispers, looking up to Derek. "They'll kill you." He wants Derek to understand, kind of wants to scare him off. He wants Derek to kick him out, tell him he isn't going to risk his pack, his family for some pathetic kid that used to be friends with a man in his pack. And there's this part of him, one that he's ignored for most of his life, pleading with Derek to stick with him, craving the comfort this pack could give him. He wants Derek to risk his pack, wants Derek to save him from what he's dealt with. Maybe even let them stay after all is said and done but he's used to being let down so he ignores that part of him. He pretends it's not there.
"Then we'll deal with them." Derek says, calmly and Stiles looks over the man's shoulder, inhaling. "My pack and I will deal with them, by now you have to understand that. If we weren't on your side you wouldn't be here."
"I know." Stiles admits and looks towards the floor, there are somethings you can't unlearn so easily. He wasn't scared of Derek, he hasn't been scared of Alpha's for a while. He should be afraid of Derek, the man could rip him to shreds but Stiles didn't think he would. He's not afraid of Derek but he's learned to keep his eyes cast down.
"Don't do that." Derek snaps and Stiles raises a brow, looking up to him. "Don't act like you're less than me, don't do that. Whatever they taught you, whatever they have over you doesn't exist here so don't do it." Stiles rolls his eyes and Derek smirks. "We're a little more in touch with our human side here."
"When I pulled up your sisters were fighting in the front yard like animals." Stiles points out and Derek nods.
"They're not on the same level yet." Stiles snorts and wipes his hands on his pants walking back to the door and standing there. Derek watches him with focus, he had heard the man trying so hard to get the ring off his finger. He had listened to the kid's heartbeat and felt bad so he came down to stop him before he woke the younger girl up.
"You know we could probably get it off with lotion or something." Stiles says and Derek can sense the lie in his heart signaling that he had tried it and it failed. Derek shakes his head.
"You know that won't work." He watches Stiles' shoulders sag and nod.
"I've tried all the stupid tricks. I hate the supernatural." Stiles says and Derek bites the inside of his cheeks, looking down. He couldn't imagine what the kid was going through. When he lost his family, he and his sisters were torn. He couldn't imagine being on his own, going at this alone. "Will you watch after her?" His voice is almost silent but Derek picks up on it, his head snapping up to look at the back of the man's head.
"No." He says and Stiles turns to look at him, eyes pleading, face desperate and Derek shakes his head. "She may trust us but she needs you, you're all she knows. She trusts you more. What would happen if you left?" Stiles looks down and Derek decides to go a bit lower with his blow. "What if they find her and not you? Who's going to take the blows for her? My pack? Probably not, we could lie. Say we found her and didn't know who's she was." Derek's glad Stiles' can't hear his heart rate, can't sense the lie. They'd protect her, she was a child. They had morals, they had to protect her.
"They won't kill her." Stiles denies and Derek stared in those honey brown eyes. "They won't find her, they'll find me."
"You kidnapped their child, do you know what they'll do to you? Regardless of your position in their pack, which you might think is high because of that stupid ring. Because their Alpha fucks you but it's not, you're their bitch. They'll kill you if they find you and she'll be alone. Don't make this easier for them." Derek says and Stiles squeezes his eyes shut at Derek's vulgar language when he speaks of Stiles and the Alpha's relationship. He purses her lips and shakes his head.
"She'll be fine without me." Stiles says stubbornly, refusing to accept this. "I taught her everything she needs to know in order to survive."
"She needs you!" Derek growls, eyes going red but staying quiet as he watches Stiles tense, eyes watering. Stiles inhales shakily.
"What if I'm the one who gets her killed? What if she dies because of me? What if I'm the reason she doesn't get to live? It'll be my fault Derek, because I raised her. I taught her right from wrong and it's gonna be the death of her. What do I do then Derek?" Stiles' voice gets stronger, is stronger than either of them expected. It hits Derek a lot harder than he wanted to let it, it hurts him. He cares about Stiles more than he thought he could ever care about a human, especially one connected to pack already.
"We're not gonna let that happen." Derek tells him, determination in his voice. "My pack will protect you and Emily. You won't let that happen. Stop thinking about them, stop stressing about them and relax, she needs you. Stress makes people stupid, it makes them do stuff they know better than to do and that's what you're doing. You are trying to run out on the only person you have, you're going to leave her alone. You need to stop and think." Stiles stares at Derek and blinks, lips parted and shock on his face. "She's going to be fine." Stiles lets out a breath and nods, for some reason believing every word out of Derek's mouth.
"I just...I wish I could protect her better. I've been trying to get this stupid ring off since it was put there, if it wasn't there, she's be free. She'd be okay." Stiles admits, voice quiet, unsure, afraid. Derek nods.
"We'll fix this Stiles, no matter what it takes. And after we do, you can go on with your life the way you chose and you never have to think of us again." Derek tells him. "If you wanted out, we'd keep Emily for you...we could find a way to get her wolf out. You'd never have to deal with the supernatural again." Stiles licks his lips and nods, looking back towards Emily, Derek standing behind him, looking down at him. Is that what he wanted? To cut Emily off from who she was so he didn't have to deal with it? To leave the world he was thrust into unexpectedly? Would he be able to leave so easily? He frowns and Derek keeps his eyes trained on the slightly shorter boy. Derek hopes Stiles wouldn't and Stiles doesn't know what he wants anymore. "You should take her to the guest room, you need rest. We'll wake you when Scott gets back. Two doors down on the left." Derek tells him and Stiles nods walking over to the girl. He goes to lift her and she wakes.
"Uncle Sti, where are we going?" She asks, bottom lips trembling. "I don't wanna leave here Uncle Sti, I want to stay. You said you wouldn't let them take me away, so you can't take me away either." Stiles bites his lip and runs his fingers through her hair.
"We're not going anywhere baby girl. Derek made up a bed for us, let's go lay down okay?" She nods and lets him scoop her up, nuzzling into his neck and wrapping two small arms around his neck. Stiles looks over to Derek and smiles before heading up the stairs. Derek watches him go up the stairs and for a second hopes that Stiles meant it, meant they weren't going anywhere because Derek wanted them to stay. He didn't know why.
AN: So this is really short, that's completely my bad. I'm actually going to put this story on hold(I know I hate it too) because I have no idea what I want to do with this. I wasn't given enough details and I've gotten writers block on where to go from here. So that's completely my bad and to anyone reading this I am so sorry. I will get back to it, eventually, I hope but until I have some ideas for it, it shall sit on my page with the words "On Hold" in the description. I feel so bad.
