A/N: My writers block has finally passed so hopefully this story will start making some progression now. Although I really would appreciate some feedback in the reviews of what you guys think! So you know what to do ;)

Chapter 4.

The very next day, I decided to ask Peeta to move in. Let's face it, if we have any chance of getting over these demons in our minds our best shot is to do it together. Of course he accepted my invitation straight away; in fact an hour later he had gathered all his stuff from his own house and brought it to mine. He came in with a wry smile on his face. "You'll never guess what I found lurking in my wardrobe." I looked up at him curiously, and was shocked to see in his arms was a heap of scruffy orange fur. "Buttercup!" I exclaimed, trying to take the cat from Peeta. Buttercup hissed at me and clung to Peeta, working his way up to his shoulder and draping himself across the back of his neck, purring like crazy. He was like a vibrating scarf. "I guess he approves of me!" laughed Peeta. I kissed him on the cheek and Buttercup butted me on the face, as if he was giving his blessing on our rekindled relationship.

Later that day we were curled up on the couch together, working out where to make room for all of Peeta's bakery items when a knock came on the door. Thinking it was just Haymitch coming to pay a visit I shouted out that the door was open. Much to both our surprise it wasn't our old mentor that entered the room but rather a contingent of capitol workers, "Hi!" exclaimed the girl furthest to the front. She wasn't much taller than me, but she had a large presence as though her personality was filling the room. She had pale flawless skin, a short upturned nose and well defines cheek bones. She really would have been quite pretty if it weren't for the fact her hair was dyed snow white, almost silver and was styled in a pattern that resembled lumps of snow that had just fallen from a building. "I'm Frostine and this is my assistant Silka. We are your new prep team!" I did a double take. Prep team? What on earth would we need one of those for? My expression must have been harsh as I could see Frostine's smile falter a little. "Um… Effie sent us; she said that she would inform you of the date of our arrival… I guess the message must have gotten lost somewhere along the way." Again I stared at her, hardly believing what I was seeing. Why would Effie be sending a prep team to my... I mean our house? Seeing how uncomfortable I was at their presence Peeta spoke up. "I'm sorry, we weren't informed that anyone would be arriving so it's just a bit of a shock to us. Would you mind letting us know why Effie sent you here?" He's always so polite, I guess he makes up for my shortcomings. "I can't believe you haven't heard! There is going to be the party of the century happening in the Capitol tomorrow and you are both invited. It really is the biggest event of the century. President Paylor is celebrating the end of the darker days." Oh great, I thought, another party. And with that I sat back and let the prep team get to work.

After being thoroughly poked and prodded, having hair ripped from my body and being immersed in baths of various solutions I was once again deemed to be presentable to the Capitol and Peeta and I were loaded onto the now familiar train. We went straight to my old compartment and decided we would both stay there. After all we live together now so why not share? Even though we had not yet had a night together in our home. I didn't recognize anyone on this train and neither did he so we decided to stay in the room and order food directly there. We had our own little feast with all the delicacies we already knew that we liked, and we even tried some of the various wines that were on offer. Feeling comfortably full and with my head starting to feel a little fuzzy from all the wine, we both curled up on the two seater sofa that was in the compartment.

We sat in silence for a while, but it wasn't uncomfortable. I enjoyed the steady rhythm of his breathing, the familiar warmth of his body and the sound of his heart beating. I looked up at him and caught him staring at me. He blushed and averted his gaze. "Really Peeta? Even after all this you're still embarrassed to be caught looking at me?" I laughed gently at him as he blushed even more, smiling back at me. "Oops", he replied, "It's a hard habit to break after all those years in the schoolyard." I gazed into his eyes and saw nothing but love reflected back at me. I was still amazed that after all those years of unrequited love and everything that the Capitol put him through that he could still have such deep feelings. But something had been playing at the back of my mind. We were heading back to the Capitol, the source of all the trouble we went through. What if this set him off again into another downward cycle? "Peeta?" I said tentatively, looking closely at him to gauge his reactions, "are you really okay with going back to the Capitol after everything that happened?" His expression didn't falter for a second and with those love filled eyes staring into mine he replied "Of course I am, this time I'm with you." Wow this guy really knew what to say to make me feel better. I leaned in and kissed him softly on the lips but the heat of his lips on mine encouraged a new feeling to stir up within me. The same one I felt back in the cave, and on the beach, only this time I knew not to end the kiss, but to continue and show him how I really felt about him. I began to kiss him harder, shifting my body so it was pressed against his. I knew exactly what I wanted to do, but I still wasn't sure quite how to get there, and all the wine we had drank earlier wasn't helping. I tried to push myself off the couch so I could get even closer again, but my senses weren't quite as sharp as usual and my hand ended up slipping, causing me to hit my head off his. "Oops" I blushed, while trying to continue the kiss. "Katniss", he said in an almost strained voice, "I know what you want to do, and I know what I want to do, but is this really the place? On a train full of strangers?" I started to tell him how I didn't care where we were, but I was interrupted from a beeping sound coming from the television in the corner. We both whipped around at the same time to see what message was coming from the Capitol. There on the screen was the face of Caesar Flickerman, only this time his hair was dyed a pale aqua green, and his eyelids and lips had matching colors. "Welcome dear viewers to the reaping for the 76th and final ever Hunger Games!" A sudden wave of dread washed over me. I had forgotten that we agreed to a final show down with the children of the Capitol, and the memory of me agreeing filled me with deep shame. "Peeta, we have to stop this!"
