The Compass – Chapter four
The first image hit him suddenly. Alice did not waste a second. The girl had long chesnut hair and pale skin. She was in warm clothes and obviously at the Fork's High parking lot.
"It was the day you left school. She was not even in class when the warning hit you."
Edward remembered the feelings. Confusion, denial, then desperation, all taking place in lighting speed inside his head. The sense of losing control had him going mad.
The next image was more like a film in slow motion. Delicate full lips and big brown eyes added more details to a nicely shaped face, girly but with a sense of melancholy on it. In seconds there was a different focus and she was not alone in the frame. Old classmates he knew well were all over her, on a beach near the ocean. It was a simple but sufficiently alarming image.
He knew it deep inside. He had to be near her.
Edward stood motionless for a few minutes. The thoughts around him were annoying and tiring. He turned to Carlisle who was the only silent mind in the room.
"You said twenty four hours."
"Yes. A minute more and everything in her life will change," Carlisle answered, already processing his son's reaction. He did not like the determination in his tone.
Edward almost smiled when realization hit him.
"And how many times can I be on the same land with her for less than a day?"
It was Alice who then whispered:"innumerable".
