Chapter 4-One Step Closer

Jayden was practicing in the indoor dojo when Kevin came back from his morning jog.

"Hey Jayden! Good morning"

"Good morning Kev…the breakfast is ready. You can proceed. I will follow after I am done with some of my new moves."

"'Kay great…actually I am very hungry. I had to run the entire city. I thought I saw someone like Emily in the park running and I followed her. I even tried her samuraizer but it was off. I ran and ran and ran but she just disappeared. After a while I found her but discovered that she was some other blonde I caught up with. Emily might still be sleeping."

"Yeah…she wakes up at 8:15 sharp…so the other blonde gave you a long run…huh?"

"hmmm…I guess so…blondes are so annoying sometimes…"

She gasped and her hand fell on the nearest vase for support which fell on the hard floor and shattered into a billion pieces and her eyes went wide.

Two heads turned to see what happened and three people came running. Mia quickly ran to her side to see if she was hurt.

"Emily? What happened?"

"…Um…sorry Ji, I lost my balance. I will clear this."

"Can you please stop being reckless for at least once or you are gonna burn the entire house blondie."

"…Mi-Mike" she started crying.

"Oh come on…please stop being a crybaby"

"MIKE! STOP!...YOU KNOW WHAT? GET LOST. YOU ARE BEING SO RUDE."

"But Jayden…"

"NO BUTS…GET OUT NOW. EXTRA EXERCISE FOR 2 HOURS. START NOW. ORDER FROM YOUR LEADER!"

"I was just joking…".

With this Mike leaves sighing loudly.

"Calm down Jay…It's not his fault. Actually he was right."

"Oh Emily! It can happen with anyone. Come here let me see if you are hurt."

"Jay I am fine."

"Em…" he said in his famous "I AM THE LEADER" tone.

"Fine"

Emily slowly walked towards him.

"Oh my god Em! It's bleeding…come I will bandage it."

"Jayden you can practice. I will see it."

"No Ji ,it's fine…besides I need to talk to her too"

"Okay take care Emily"

Both of them proceed towards Jayden's room. Emily gets settled on the couch while Jayden gets the first aid kit.

Emily's POV

Mike was right. I am reckless and clumsy. What else can I be?

Jayden thinks it's not my fault but actually it's all my fault. Had I been careful if would not have happened. I don't know how many people I am hurting just by living. I am of no use. But Kevin's word hurt me though they were true.

"When did you wake up?"

Jayden's voice brought me back to reality.

"Oh…at 7:30"

"Were you feeling alright. I mean were you dizzy or something?"

"No jay! I am fine. It's just that sometimes it hurts you know." Oh no! Can't you keep your mouth shut sometimes.

He rose one of his eyebrows and looked at me and I knew I was doomed.

"What hurts?"

"..um..nothing…um…wounds like this"

"(LAUGHS)You worry me sometimes Em"

Hash! He left the topic otherwise I was a goner. He continued wrapping my hand in the bandage and I could not help but keep looking at him. He is so sweet and caring. But he is definitely not for someone as clumsy and reckless like me.

"Does it hurt now?" He asked after completing the bandage.

"No Jay…thanks"

"I won't talk to you!"

What happened? What did I say?

"Why?"

"Will you say thank you to a friend now ,Em?"

"Oh! (smiles)…I take that back. Will you talk to me now?"

"Of course silly…how can someone be mad at someone so cute as you…" Oh no!

"What?" I blushed at his comment. Did he mean it?

"Oh nothing! Take care em and please don't get hurt okay?"

"I will try my best Jayden Shiba"

"Okay Emily Shields". We both chuckled at this.

What he did next was quite unexpected. He came up and kissed my forehead and smiled down at me.

I could not help but smile as well as I could feel the care radiating from him. Maybe he was worth understanding my problems and maybe…just maybe I could be out of this well of despair.

I went to my room and closed the door behind. I will definitely give it a try…or no…leave it…no one ever understood and never will…but let's try.

I went to my desk and started scribbling something on my paper.

After I was finished I again lost the strength to give it to Jay and crushed it into a ball and threw it away.

Jayden's POV

She is acting strange. Super strange I may add. I guess I need to take a look.

I very quietly went to her room and saw that she was not here. When I heard her car outside I knew she had left. Finally a moment I wanted. Now I can go and investigate. I don't wanna interfere but as a leader it's my responsibility to check if my teammates…and importantly my crush is alright?

I went over and found nothing strange in her room. It was all so beautiful with yellow butterflies on the wall drawn so neatly. God!she is an amazing artist…

As I was about to leave the room I saw a paper crumbled on the ground.

Quite suspicious, I went to check it. I picked it up and opened it. What I read next made me more worried and curious.

"Dear Jay…

I know I can trust you, maybe you can understand this…if you want to know what's wrong with me go check my diary in my closet. All the problems and confusion would be gone.

Your friend

Emily"

Why did she not give this to me? What's up with her? I will have to search for this "DIARY".

With this I proceeded to search for the diary she mentioned. Maybe I could finally understand what my Emily is troubled with.

So here ends the fourth chapter and Jayden is a bit close to knowing what Emily is hiding...any guesses so far?
