Hello dearest readers! Fourth chapter, right here!
I stood next to a bus stop on 8th Street. With any luck, the bus will be here. The book said it stopped annually, so I knew that I had to get on as soon as I saw it. I waited until sundown, but the bus didn't arrive. I fought sleep just to keep my eyes open so I didn't miss it. It didn't work. I fell asleep on the side of the road. I woke up at 9:00, according to the TV store across the street. I sat in a cross-legged position until sundown again, but the bus still didn't show up. A couple pedestrians threw some money at my feet, so I went to the nearest pizza restaurant and ordered a couple slices of plain cheese. I walked back to the bus stop and dropped my pizza at what I saw. The bus was here! I rushed to the door and it opened to reveal a guy in a purple uniform.
"Hello there human. This is the Galactic Bus, here to take you across the galaxy. I will be your driver today." he said in a monotone voice, probably from saying it so much. He stepped to the side so that I could pass. "Would you like me to take your bag, sir?" I waved my hand dismissively. "No thank you. Please don't call me sir. What's your name?" He looked taken aback at my request. "No one has ever asked for my name before…" he said softly. "That does not matter to me." I told him. "My name is Koreq, sir. Why do you ask my name when no others do?" he inquired. I shrugged. "I wish to be friends. Is that wrong?" He shook his head slowly, as if not believing me. I opened my pack and dug out the book on the universe. I was eager to learn about the currency so that I could pay this nice man.
Hello again. In this chapter, you will learn about the currency system of the universe. There are six forms of currency. The lowest is a Khol, which is a small rectangular piece of nickel marked with a vertical line inside a triangle. (A/N: The Deathly Hallows symbol without the circle)
The next lowest is a Heya, which is worth four Khols. A Heya is a triangular piece of bronze marked with a triquetra.
The next form of currency is a Quata, which is worth eight Heya. A Quata is a round disc of copper stamped with the othala.
The next highest form is the Ploko, which is worth seven Quatas. A Ploko is a circular chunk of platinum stamped with the triskele.
The second highest form of currency is the Lika, which is worth eleven Ploko. The Lika is a star-shaped piece of silver marked with the fihankra.
The highest form of currency is the Drachma, which is worth nine Lika. It is a circular piece of gold stamped with a laurel crown. (A/N: Just making that up.) This currency system is used by everyone of the universe except for Earth.
A rich person has on average five drachmas. An average middle-class man has about two drachmas. A poor person has less than 15 Ploko.
I grinned after I finished the chapter. I had about 214 drachmas in my pack from all the quests I went on. I was going to be astronomically rich in this society. "Sir?" I heard Koreq from the front. "Two things. One, which planet would you like to go to? And two, I need payment before the ride. It's bus custom." I rummaged through my pack and pulled out a drachma. "Hey, Koreq? Do you happen to have a currency exchange machine?" He nodded and gestured next to him. "It is up here, sir." I walked up to the front and slid my drachma into the little slot.
I guess the machine was programmed to produce Khols, because that's what came out. 22,176 to be exact. I may need a larger bag. Luckily, Khols are very small. Koreq's eyes nearly popped out of his head. I decided to give him a little gift for being civil to me, so I gathered up half of the Khols and put them in his payment bag. His jaw dropped. "You… you're giving this all to me? But why? This is so much money!" I shrugged. "I don't need it, and you have treated me well. Plus, I have more." If possible, his eyes got even wider. "How many?" he asked slowly. I grinned. "214." I answered. Koreq fainted.
It took Koreq eight minutes to wake up. When he finally did, he asked, "How?" I smiled. "Well, Koreq, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. I'm a demigod." His eyes grew wide. Then he looked around, almost if he was checking for eavesdroppers. Then he leaned in close. "Listen, sir. It is not wise to share that information freely. Most beings in the universe are not as kind as I. They will hunt you down for it. They will try to use you for your power. Do not even let them know you are human. Many people in the universe do not take kindly to humans. It may also be useful to change your name. A name can say just as much about you as the way you talk. Change your name to something that sounds exotic to you. It will sound normal to someone from outside of Earth. Trust me on this, sir."
I could tell this was serious. I thought about it for a while. Then I had an idea. "How about Phoenix?" Koreq nodded. "That is a good name. There are legends about phoenixes. They are said to wield a fire that is uncontrollable to anyone but another phoenix or someone with a phoenix blessing, which are seldom given. They are also extremely rare. There are only about five phoenixes left in the universe." One thing stood out to me about that statement. "Koreq, what do you mean, left?" He sighed. "Phoenix eggs are in high demand. Phoenixes can live for thousands of years, but their eggs are still vulnerable. Since there are so few phoenixes in the universe, their eggs are some of the most coveted things in the universe. It is a sad thing." I nodded in agreement.
Suddenly, Koreq asked, "So, Phoenix, where would you like to go? Since you have been so kind to me, I will allow a free ride whenever you would like. No one in all of my time as a bus driver has ever given me such respect." I smiled warmly at him. "Arba. I would like to go to Arba." Koreq nodded thoughtfully. "I will only be able to drop you off in the air sector, as that is the most populated part of the planet. Is that okay, Phoenix?" I nodded firmly. Koreq messed with the bus controls a little and the bus lurched forward before shooting off into space.
I stood at the window in awe of the stars shooting by as we hurtled through space. I sat down and decided to read my book a little more. The next chapter was on the Universal Council.
Welcome back! As you have probably noted from the title, this chapter will be all about the Universal Council. The Universal Council is made up of Chaos, the Primordials, their successors, and the general or Chaos's army. The council's job is to monitor potential threats throughout the universe and keep it in balance. Here is a list of the Primordials and a short description.
Chaos: Chaos is the head of the council and also the creator of the universe. He has not named a successor yet, for he believes his power is too great for a mortal to hold without being corrupted by it. He has notably given one exception, but refused to name him or her. His powers include telekinesis, telepathy, illusion casting, shapeshifting, flight, super senses, super strength, perfect memory, super speed, creation, elemental manipulation, teleportation, healing, intangibility, force fields, and invisibility.
Anake: Anake is the Primordial of Fate and Destiny and wife of Chronus. Her successor is named Rhan Niyati, a Theuros from Orenda with the power to see the subjective future. Anake's powers include changing someone's fate, seeing someone's fate, and seeing someone's past.
Chronus: Chronus is the Primordial of Time and husband to Anake. His successor is named Amser Saniya, a Myrios from Khaled. Chronos' powers include seeing someone's past, speeding up time, slowing down time, freezing time, and viewing events in the past.
Ouranos: Ouranos is the Primordial of the Sky and Heavens and husband of Gaea. His successor is named Amberly Ekambar, a Circos from Arba. Ouranos' powers include electrokinesis, aerokinesis, and flight.
Gaea: Gaea is the Primordial of the Earth and wife of Ouranos, though she has children with Tartarus. Her successor is named Herta Mankah, a Lios from Trahaym. Gaea's powers include earth manipulation, healing with the earth, gem manipulation, stone manipulation, and control of earthquakes.
Nyx: Nyx is the Primordial of Night and wife of Erebus. Her successor is named Lalia Rajani, a Noxis from Madelhari. Nyx's powers include shadow manipulation, monster control, and gaining strength in the night.
Erebus: Erebus is the Primordial of Darkness and husband of Nyx. His successor is named Cronan Dar, a Noxis from Orenda with the power to become invisible. Erebus' powers include shadow manipulation, shadow travel, and shadow stealth (hiding in the shadows).
Hemera: Hemera is the Primordial of Day and wife to Aether. Her successor is Aura Gedala, a Lucis from Kiran. Hemera's powers include healing and minor light manipulation.
Aether: Aether is the Primordial of Light and husband to Hemera. His successor is Faven Gedala, a Lucis from Kiran. Aether's powers include light manipulation, invisibility, and illusion casting.
Eros: Eros is the Primordial of Love. His successor is Jaquan Kelleher, a Vitae from Madelhari. Eros' powers include inspiring love, reading emotions, manipulating emotions, and changing his appearance.
Pontus: Pontus is the Primordial of Water and husband of Thalassa. His successor is Assana Dallas, a Rivule from Lanikal. Pontus' powers include hydrokinesis, manipulation of water in all three states, and controlling any liquid.
Thalassa: Thalassa is the Primordial of the Seas and wife of Pontus. Her successor is Cordelia Alravata, a Rivule from Orenda with the power to understand sea creatures. Thalassa's powers include hydrokinesis, understanding sea creatures, and controlling water in all three states.
Tartarus: Tartarus is the Primordial of Pain, Fire, and the Pit. His successor is Sarlic Covell, a Lios from Trahaym. Tartarus's powers include making someone feel pain, pyrokinesis, and stone manipulation.
So, there you have it. Those are the Primordials and their successors. Keep in mind that they are very powerful so you should not try and provoke them. Especially Chaos. In the next chapter, you will learn about the languages of the universe. I closed the book, tired of reading. "Phoenix, we are coming up on the first of the planets, if you would like to look." Koreq called from the front seat.
How was that, readers? I know, this story is a little cliche, but I just wanted to do it. I will be adding a little tiny spin on it later, so keep on the lookout for that. In the meantime...
