When Naruto heard of Itachi's death, he didn't leave immediately. It was painful. But Naruto still understood. He would be back soon, he had finished his goal. So Naruto waited, biding his time. A year passed. Naruto was hurting but he waited. Another year. More pain but he would be back. Sakura had given up, married to a shinobi she had met in Suna. Naruto waited. And finally, when one day that person walked through those gates accompanied by several ANBU, Naruto swallowed his relieved tears, smiled brightly, and slugged him in the face.
