Bella POV

Edward wasn't gone longer than a minute, but every second of it was spent in fear.

"The smell is coming from your cousins room, she's not in there." He said come over and putting his arms around me. My face a mask of confusion and fear.

"Oh god Edward what if someone came for me but took her instead?" I ask trying not to panick yet failing.

"Bella your cousin is fine. She probably just snuck out, didn't your aunt say she was having problems with her doing that? I'm sure in the morning when you wake up she'll be there." His words made me feel a little better, but I had this gut feeling that something wasn't right.

Edward called Carlisle and arranged for someone to be outside while we slept incase this intruder came back. I fell asleep in Edwards arms praying that my cousin would be home when I woke up.

Sophia POV

After Jake and I were done I finished hunting and headed home. I didn't need to pay attention to where I was going so I got lost in my thoughts. I wasn't sure how to tell Bella or if I even should. Yeah she was dating a vampire and apparently really close to the rest of his family. But that doesn't mean she'll accept me.

I smelled him right before he jumped me, breaking me out of my thoughts and wrestling me to the ground. I struggled but it was useless, he was stronger than me and more experienced. I stopped moving and waited for death with my eyes closed, not wishing to see the person that was going to end my new life. All I kept thinking was once again my life will be cut short.

I waited for what felt like hours, though it was probably on minutes, for this stranger to make his move. When he didn't I opened my eyes and saw the most handsome man I've ever seen. He stared down on me with this questing look in his eyes.

"Please if your going to kill me just do it." I begged hoping he would either kill me fast of change his mind. Not sure which one he chose but after awhile he spoke.

"I don't know what your doing at this house, but if you want to live I suggest you turn around and go home."

"What are you talking about?" I asked exremely confused at this point.

"I know you were in their earlier. I don't know what business you have here, and I really don't care. What I do care about is the fact that you were in their early and Bella's cousin is gone. Now maybe she just snuck out or maybe you killed her. Now you have 2 seconds to answer me and you better be honest cause I'll know if your lying." He said still holding me down.

"I didn't kill Bella's cousin I am her cousin you retard. I mean jeez this is the second time tonight I snuck out just trying to hunt so I don't kill anyone on my first day of school. The first time I'm almost attacked by freaking werewolves and this time you attack me accusing me of killing myself. Well news flash I may not like that fact that I've been turned and I may miss my friends and family, God knows I tear myself up inside for making my mom worry so much. But I am not suicidal, plus I wouldn't even know how to kill myself if I wanted to."

I sighed in frustration and hadn't that during my rant he had let go of me and was standing up offering me a hand.

"I'm sorry about that. Bella didn't tell us you were a vampire, so when Edward smelled you scent and you weren't in your room we kind of panicked." He said sheepishly.

"Bella doesn't know." I said looking him in the eye. "And I would appreciated it if she didn't find just yet." I knew asking him to lie was wrong and it was even a long shot that he would do it. But I still hadn't decided what or how to tell her and if she heard it from someone else it wouldn't go down well.

"I'm Jasper" He said holding out his hand.

"Sophia" I said ignoring it. "I don't mean to be rude but you'll understand if I don't shake the hand of someone who was just thinking about killing me."

"Yeah sorry about that. We are all very protective over Bella so you can understand that I only did it because I thought she was in some kind of danger."

"Well it's good to know that she has you guys to look out for her. But I need to know if you will keep my secret?" I asked.

"Well I can keep it from Bella, but once my family see you they're going to know." He said it like he was apologizing though I knew he couldn't control that part.

"Yeah about that, I'm kind of new so this might sound dumb but do vampires have special powers?" I asked.

He looked at me for awhile before he answered. "Well some do, why do you think you have one?" he asked skeptically.

I wasn't sure if I should tell him the truth. I mean obviously Bella trusted him and he did say he was going to keep my secret. But that doesn't mean he wasn't going to laugh at me if my theory was wrong, or just plain dumb. Usually I wouldn't care about that but something inside of me really wanted him to like me. Not just write me off as Bella's crazy cousin that he had to deal with because his brother's in love with Bella. But I'm never going to figure anything out if I'm too scared to ask.

He just stood there the whole time I was lost in thought. Then he finally spoke "Look you don't have to be scared of me. I promise I won't tell anyone and I will help you figure this out."

Weird how did he know what I was feeling?

"I can feel and manipulate emotions, that's my power." He said sensing my confusion.

"Oh" was all I could say before diving back into my own thoughts trying to decide what to tell him.

So let me know what you think. I had intended to go a completely different way with this chapter. But you know sometimes you just sit down and the chapter writes itself. Still not sure who to have Sophia end up with though. I'm open for suggestions it will help get some idea of who you guys want to see her with and how I think the story should go.
