So I pulled an all nighter to write this because I feel like total garbage for never updating. So if this chapter is shit that is why. I hope you Enjoy anyway.
Courage's alarm wasn't set to go off for another couple of hours but he couldn't sleep any longer. Today isn't even a real day of school. It is just signing up for your classes and touring the building. Courage started pacing in his room in the attic. He decide to Google "ways to survive high school".
"Ways to survive High school, you ask? You twit. What do you think this is? An after school special? Google isn't going to tell you how to make friends." The Computer spat back at him. Courage didn't know why he thought the computer was going to help him at all. The air about him just reeks of self righteousness. Courage decides to go back to his pacing. After what feels like hours Courage decides to run downstairs and use Muriel's all time fix of a hot cup of tea. Courage sat at the dining room table just breathing in his tea trying to calm himself.
"Hello, Courage, my dear cousin." A voice quietly chuckled a greeting. Courage felt a shiver run down his spin as his heart started pounding. He turned to the voice and found Fred standing in the doorway between the kitchen in the living room. He was wearing a white button up with a purple bow tie and moss green vest, a nice pair of denim pants, black shoes, his blonde hair in a tangled mess, with his black briefcase held with both hands in front of him. People have considered Fred an appealing person until he opens his mouth or shows that smile.
"How-How did you get in?" Courage stumbled, looking up at Fred. Fred bent downward to make his face level with Courage's. Then, with a smile, turned his head and pointed at the front door. Courage was shaking so hard that he started spilling his tea. Fred lean over him and placed his hand on the cup to stop the shaking. He took his hand that was still holding the briefcase and brought it up to his lips with only his index finger pressed against his lips.
"Lets have some fun before sweet aunt Muriel gets up. Have you had your hair cut recently? It looks long." Fred whispered, eyes burning, lifting up a lock of hair. Courage could feel that spine tingling smile in his ear. Without giving back any of the personal space he took from Courage Fred started opening his briefcase where Courage knew he kept his clippers. Courage panicked and pushed himself from Fred causing him to fall from his chair and break one of Muriel's tea cups, cutting his hand in the process.
"Oh goodness me!" Came a voice from the living room. Muriel walked into the kitchen, hair still in cap and fluffy slippers on. "I didn't know you were already here, Fred dear." Muriel said kindly with a small smile. She then turned to Courage, "Oh dear! How did this happen?"
Courage shot a quick, uneasy look at Fred who gave Courage a dark look that made courage squirm. "N-nothing happened, mom. Just wasn't paying attention." Courage said with a nervous laugh.
"Well, go upstairs and clean yourself up. I will make you and your cousin breakfast before your orientation." Muriel smiled with small cracks of worry breaking through. Courage made his way upstairs to the bathroom and ran water over the cut on his right hand. The cut wasn't deep but still painful. Courage quickly wrapped up his hand and headed to his room to get ready for his orientation. Courage put on a blank white shirt with a purple cardigan over top with a pair of old jeans and worn out tennis shoes. He took a quick look in the mirror before heading back downstairs. He flattened down his bouncy brown hair, it was getting long and he did need a haircut soon but not from Fred, not again. Not ever again. Courage shook his head as if to literally shake the memory away and headed down the stairs. He found Muriel and Fred at the front door waiting for him. Muriel with her hands to her mouth and tears in her eyes and Fred with his large creepy smile. "Oh dear, It looks like you are going to be late." Muriel chokes behind tears. She gives Courage a paper bag, "In case you get hungry later." and cracks a smile.
Courage gives Muriel a big, long, goodbye hug and whispers in her ear, "I am only going to school Mom. I think I'll be okay." Courage pulls out of the hug and gives Muriel a reassuring smile. "See you after school."
Fred turns to Muriel. "Aunt Muriel do you mind if I take Courage out with my friends after orientation?" Hearing that, Courage felt like someone just kicked him in the stomach. He doesn't want to go hangout with Freaky Fred's friends, he actually didn't want to hang out with anyone at all. Courage starts panicking, he has no way out of this. Fred is giving him a ride to and from this and Courage has no cell phone. He hasn't really needed one until now. And what if Fred tries something weird like he was going to do before Muriel interrupted them earlier? Courage looks over at Muriel with pleading eyes but Muriel was not looking at him, she was looking at Fred.
"Oh wouldn't that be delightful? Maybe you could make some new friends Courage? Just make sure to have him home by eight." Muriel smiled thinking of Courage coming out of his shell and making a couple of friends. "And stay out of trouble." She giggled.
"Oh we would never do anything naughty auntie." Fred smiled as if telling Muriel that they were going to do just that. He turned to Courage and pulled him out of the door. "Off to school little freshman."
