Crow's POV
What the hell is going on here? All the people in Satellite started acting so strange, so… abnormal. And those weird people with black cloaks too. Who are they? What have they done? They spoke again and again for hope, but all I saw were the people who followed them transform into zombies with empty eyes, repeating their words like a tape. It's kind of creepy.
They looked like a whole army of zombies ready to attack us. And by 'us' I mean everyone who disagreed with them. Every moment, someone from the crowd joined them.
Most of the roads had become dangerous now. It always was dangerous; after all, this is Satellite, but now it had become more dangerous and weirder for everyone. You couldn't see people in the streets walking, talking to each other or working anymore. You could see only a few men in black cloaks and zombies everywhere. You could feel earthquakes all the time and this strange fog too. Not like the normal one, but it looked like someone was creating this fog for a reason and I'm sure I want to know what this reason is.
But I'm sure of one thing; something is happening. I don't know what it is and I have no idea how I'm going to find out, but I will. I must protect those kids after all. I'm the only one who can protect them and they trust me. I can't fail them now. I will protect them even if that costs me my life. I will join them and become a zombie too if, by doing so, those kids are going to be safe. This is the promise I made to Pearson before he died in that fire and I must honor this promise.
The only problem is that I have no clue of what is happening and I have no idea what to do. At least I'm not alone. Yuusei is with us now; with me. Today we fought the security officers together. We rode side by side for so many years. I almost forgot what it feels like fighting with an old friend by your side.
He explained some things to the rest of us but I think he knows more; he just doesn't want to get us into more trouble in this battle or make us worry. What can I say? Same old Yuusei; he never changes. He is still as stupid as always. Thank God I know him so well. After all, he was one of my best friends; if I didn't know him like I do, then who would?
"You really plan to trek it alone, don't you?" Not that I didn't know the answer already. I saw him get up from bed and started pushing his D-Wheel away.
I surprised him. I could tell by his actions that he didn't see that coming. Jeez, after so many years of company and still he never learns. I would be laughing at his expression if I wasn't angry with him.
"How could you just go without saying a word after all we have been through?"
His answer didn't surprise me. He didn't want to put us in more danger. But I'm not going to let him leave; I will if he agrees to take me with him. After all, what are friends for if not to help you when you need it?
He is my friend; I will do my best to help him and I will protect those kids at any cost. It will take more than a few weird people and some creepy zombies to stop me.
Yes, Crow is right: what are friends for after all? ;)
