Chapter Four: Cemetery

The next morning Ayume got ready to head out. She grabbed 4974 yen (50 dollars).

"Heading out?" Kaiya asked. "Yes I'm going to the cemetery?"

"Why?" Kaiya asked with a worried tone. "My caretaker just passed away. I'm going to visit him." Ayume said.

"Want me to come?" Kaiya asked. "No it's alright I'll be fine. Well I'm off see you guys later." Ayume said taking her leave.

She followed what was on the paper. She arrived and found where his grave was.

Beloved friend and father figure, Akatsuki

"It's hard without you Mr. Akatsuki." Ayume said placing flowers on his grave. "You always were like my father. Good news I found Dino. Still not sure what I'm supposed to do though. I don't know if I can do this without you." Ayume said as she started to cry and lean on the
grave stone.

"Ayume?" She heard her name being called; she wiped her tears and turned around.

It was Yamamoto holding a bouquet of lilies.

"Yamamoto?" She got up. "What are you doing here?"

"Visiting my mom." As soon as Ayume heard that her whole body became stiff.

"I'm sorry." Ayume said. "It's alright." He said with that perfect smile of his.

"Who's this?" Yamamoto gestured to the grave in front of her. "Ohh he was my caretaker."

"How did he..."

"Cancer." Ayume said looking at the grave. "Sorry." He said looking at Ayume who seemed like she was going to cry.

"Want to meet my mom?" Yamamoto asked. Ayume smiled and nodded, "I'd loved to."

She followed him to a grave not too far away, it was under a tree.

"Hey mom I brought a friend today." He said placing the flowers on the grave. "Hi Mrs. Yamamoto." Ayume bent down next to him. On the tombstone it said 'Beloved Wife and Wonderful Mother.'
Ayume smiled and said, "My name's Ayume. I hope you're doing alright. Seems like you have one of the best spots here; has a lot of shade." Yamamoto looked at her and smiled.

Ayume looked at him. "What?" she asked.

"She would have liked you." He said. "How did she..."

Yamamoto looked at Ayume and for a second she felt bad for asking.

"I'm sorry that was probably to personal." Ayume said getting up. "No it's not that." He said.

"It's fine really." Ayume looked back at him. "It was a car accident. She was driving home when a drunk driver hit her." Yamamoto explained as he touched the gravestone.

"I was only 9 when it happened at the time I didn't really understand what was happening. All I know was that my mom was gone..." He stood up.

"Did you ever hate the driver?" Ayume asked. "Hate? No. Mad? A little. But I never hated him, because that wasn't how my mom raised me. In the end he was paralyzed. He was a rich lawyer, we didn't sue him, we forgave him, but he offered to pay for everything for taking my mom
away. Even now I don't hate him because it was thanks to him my mom was buried in a beautiful place."

Ayume walked up and hugged him by his neck. Yamamoto was shocked.

"Sorry I just felt like I had to hug you." Ayume said as she tip toed just to keep hugging him. "For you not to hate the man who took your mother away. You're really kind Yamamoto."

Yamamoto hugged her back.

"Thank you Ayume." Yamamoto said as she let go.

"So do you want to get something to eat?" He asked. "Sure." Ayume said smiling.

Yamamoto took her to a nearby restaurant. The people working there knew him because every time he went to visit his mom he would go to eat there. He would even just stop by and eat if he was ever in the neighborhood.

"The food here is so delicious!" Ayume said eating her soup. Yamamoto laughed, "Yeah this place is great."

"You know I have to say Yamamoto its fun hanging out with you!" Ayume smiled. "Hanging out with you is fun to." He said.

"Ayume do you want dessert?" Yamamoto asked looking at the menu. Ayume glanced up at him and looked back at her menu.

"Hmm what are you getting?" Ayume asked putting it down. "Hmm... maybe chocolate ice cream." He looked at her.

Ayume smiled and said, "Okay well I'll get vanilla."

"Alrighty then." Yamamoto gestured to the waitress. "Yamamoto-kun what would you like?" The waitress asked

"A chocolate and vanilla ice cream please?" he asked. "Okay. So are you going to introduce me to your girlfriend?" She bluntly asked.

"Ohh." They both looked at each other and slightly blushed. "We're not dating." They responded in unison.

"Ohh my. Sorry." She said bowing and apologizing for her mistake then said, "It's just that you've never brought any girl with you here before."

"So I apologize." And took her leave.

They sat there waiting for their dessert. With such an awkward that just happened they didn't know what to say to each other.

"I'm sorry about that." Yamamoto said. "Aha it's alright."

Just like that they were laughing with each other.

"Here you go." She came with their ice cream. "Thank you." They said.

"So Yamamoto you don't like vanilla ice cream?" Ayume asked eating her ice cream.

Yamamoto smiled and said, "Aha not really I never tried it but I don't think I'll like it very much."

Ayume laughed, "But you should try it, it's not that bad. Don't worry one day I'll get you to try it." She said smiling.

"Well then I will be sure to thank you." He said.

They left the restaurant a little while after. Then he toke her to the market to look around. A shop caught Ayume's attention. She stood there in front of the window. Yamamoto stopped walking and noticed her attention.

"You like something?" He asked. "Ohh it's just something that reminds me of my caretaker."

"Which one?" He asked. "The one with the Zodiac animals."

"When I was little and couldn't sleep would make up stories about the Zodiac animals. It just always seemed to cheer me up." Ayume said.

"Ayume could you do me a quick favor?" Yamamoto asked. "Umm sure."

"Can you just please go and get me some dumplings over there." He said pointing to the booth at the end.

"Okay. Be right back." She said leaving. "Was I that boring." She thought.

[-Yamamoto walks inside-]

A few minutes Yamamoto met up with Ayume.

"Ready?" He asked. "Yes ohh here you go." Ayume said handing him the dumplings.

He offered to walk her home. It was cold so he gave her his jacket. It was a little bit bigger on her. But what could she expect she only came up to his chest and he was pretty built so she looked small.

"I'm sorry. It's sort of big on you." Yamamoto said rubbing his head. Ayume looked at him and she just laughed, "Aha it's alright." She said.

-Almost Near Tsuna's house-

"Ahah you did not seriously do that." Yamamoto said laughing. "What? I'm terrible at baseball. So the last time I played I threw the ball to someone's face. It was an accident, I swore that day I'd never play unless I knew how."Ayume explained.

"Well maybe if we're free I can teach you." He offered. "I'd like that thanks." Ayume said.

"Well thanks for dropping me off." She said bowing. Yamamoto laughed and said, "Come on now we're friends." He said hugging Ayume.

She smiled and returned the hug.

"Well night." He said. "Good night." Ayume said closing the door. Kaiya was standing in front of the door.

"So you won't let me go but you'll take Yamamoto." She teased.

"What I just ran into him." Ayume took defense and walked passed her.

"So you went on a date?" Kaiya said her hands crossed. "No." She turned back.

"So please explain why you're wearing something you didn't leave in?" Kaiya asked. "Huh?" Ayume didn't understand until she looked at herself.

"Ahh shit." She thought. "I need to go and return his jacket." She said about to walk out.

"Yeah you could but then again he's probably too far for you to meet up with him. Just wait till tomorrow." Kaiya suggested. "Right." Ayume snapped back.

"Well time for you to go to bed." Kaiya said pushing Ayume. "Night night." She said.

"Oh okay." Ayume said going to her room. She sat on the bed, she took off the jacket and set it down next to her. She smiled and fell next to it.

"Thanks for a great day." Ayume said falling asleep beside his jacket.

"Okay she went to sleep." Kaiya said. "Ready to prepare?" Nana asked.

"Yes Ma'am!" They all said. "Okay let's get to work!" Nana said putting on her apron.
