Word 4: Date

School was finally out and thank God it was Friday! Carrie was going through her locker trying to get her things and go because she couldn't wait to get home and out of that hell hole of a school, not that home was any better but still.

She felt a push on her back, causing her to slam into the locker door. "Have a nice weekend, Creepy Carrie" Chris laughed and gave her friends a high five before leaving the building.

She sighed and shook her head, four more months and she never has to see these horrible people ever again in her life, especially Chris and her crew of demons.

After she got her stuff, she scurried through the hallways as quick as possible to get out of the school, but before she could reach the doors,

"Yo Carrie! Wait up!" It was Vinnie, he ran up to her to catch up to her.

She smiled at him, "Oh hi"

"Sooo how was your last class?"

"It was alright, not one of my favorites anyway"

"Ah okay, so listen, I was wondering…. Um, well….. Oh man" He rubbed the back of his head, then looked down at the ground.

Carrie raised an eyebrow at him, "Is there anything wrong?"

"Oh! Nothing! Nothing, it's just that…. Well, I was wondering if you weren't busy this weekend, maybe me and you could…. You know? Go on a…. Date?"

Carrie's cheeks began to turn red, never in her life was she asked to go on a date by a guy unless it was some kind of trick that was planned by one of the bullies, but Vinnie was her friend, the closest friend she's ever had, matter of fact. Neither he or his friends had done anything to hurt her or try to trick her or any of the sort. They were actually kind to her and actually treated her like a person and not like a freak of nature like most of these people did.

"Oh…. well, I…."

Then she thought of her mother, she would blow a fuse if she ever found this out. She would lock her in the closet for the rest of her life if she ever found out that she went on a date with a boy. She couldn't do it, she just couldn't do that!

"I don't think I can"

"Why not? You busy doing homework or something" He chuckled and joked, "Nerd"

"No, it's not that, it's just that-"

"You're grounded?"

"No, no it's not that, it's just that well, my mother wouldn't like that"

"Going out on a date?" He looked at her all confused.

"Yes, she'd be really mad if I was involved with a boy, she said they only want one thing, and also I never went on a date before, so I don't know how that would go, I'd probably make it really awkward" She explained.

"Well, let me tell YOU something, I've been your friend for months now and you know I would never try to take advantage of you as your old lady thinks I would, I may not be the best person in the world but unlike these knuckleheads at this school, at least I have manners and respect for you"

And he was right about that, he wanted to be her friend because she was quiet but also sweet, and she was lonely and didn't think she deserved to be. Some of the popular girls he's seen were too flashy and obnoxious for his taste, especially Chris and her crew, who acted like bitches to everyone for no reason, especially to Carrie.

"I'll tell you what, when your old lady is fast asleep, I'll sneak you out and take you to that carnival that's happening tomorrow night, it'll be a blast"

Carrie's heart felt like it was gonna jump out of her throat, "A-are you sure it's a good idea? What if my mother wakes up and finds out I'm gone?"

Vinnie smiled, "Don't worry, just say you were invited to a Youth Group at church, trust me, she'll eat that right up and after she drives you to that church, I'll meet you there and when she's gone, hop into my car and BOOM! We're on our way to the carnival"

"Well, okay….. I hope your plan works"

"Trust me, doll! It'll work I know what I'm doing. Do you have a curfew?"

"No but I want to come home early at 9pm so she won't worry about me"

"Overprotective too, huh?" He chuckled, "Okay understandable. Oh and don't worry, I won't try anything frisky if you know what I mean, we're just going as, you know, friends."

"I know what you mean. I have to go, my mother is waiting outside for me. See you tomorrow"

"Yeah you too! And remember the plan!" He shouted to her.

"I will!" She shouted back.

Carrie turned around and walked out of the building, Carrie's smile never left her face after that.

She had a date and it was the best moments of her life.
