Lucy went to bed that night quietly, listening to her friends breathing causing her to smile, especially Cana's drunken Mutterings, which caused her to visibly giggle. After such a fun night everyone went to sleep easily, but Ivan didn't seem to want to sleep, in fact, he doesn't really sleep much anyway.
Ivan was sitting on the windowsill, staring out into the night, the moon shining down on his scared skin and wide brown eyes.
He seemed to be thinking about something, Lucy noted, something that confused him.
Lucy gave up pretending to be asleep and pushed herself up, drawing Ivan's attention to her.
"can you not sleep" She said softly.
Ivan did not reply, only staring at her, a faint sparkle of thought in his eyes sending shivers down her spine. She crawled up beside him, looking up at the night sky.
"The Stars are bright tonight" She commented.
Ivan tilted his head in confusion, mouthing the word cautiously as if he didn't understand. Lucy Nodded, Pointing out the small flecks of light, "Those are stars, they shine the brightest at night, in the day it's impossible to see them"
Ivan followed her finger, staring at the sky, Wide eyed and Fascinated. Lucy smiled, looking up at the sky herself.
"Hey Ivan"
Ivan's eyes flickered over to her.
"Do you…do you know what magic is…"
Ivan's eyes only showed confusion, and she sighed, "As expected, you don't remember"
Ivan flicked his wrist, drawing her attention to it with confusion, "You do those strange movements, yet no knowledge of magic"
Ivan Blinked, Flicking his wrist again, before staring at what he was doing, narrowing his eyes in confusion.
He Held up his hand, staring at it intently before lowering it with a little drawn out sigh.
The next morning Lucy woke up late, thanks to Ivan, And the rest of the girls seem to be already at the Guild. Ivan was Already up and Walking around the house aimlessly, picking up random objects to study them before placing them down again and continuing on his way.
Lucy sat up in confusion, "Ivan, what in God's name are you doing"
Ivan jumped guiltily, dropping the book he was holding in fright. He faced her, shuffling his feet and avoiding her gaze.
Lucy felt like sighing again, but refrained against it, instead she got up and walked over to the kitchen. "What would you like to eat Ivan?" it wasn't as much of a question as it was a test to see if he remembered any foods.
Ivan tilted his head, Opening his mouth to say something before closing it, doing that several times before he slurred out his answer.
"Bloooooodddd"
To say Lucy was shocked would be an understatement; she stared at him, wide eyed and opened mouth, "Uuuh" she finally said, "T-That's not on the menu…"
He seemed disappointed, but slightly confused as well.
Lucy shivered avoiding his gaze by getting out some cereal and milk, "Here, Cornflakes will do"
On the way back to the guild Lucy was deep in thought, her arms were crossed and her eyes were flickering around.
She was thinking maybe someone could help her with training Ivan, He had nowhere else to go other than Fairytail so he had to Train in some sort of magic to be a mage.
She narrowed her eyes, staring at the entrance of fairytail thoughtfully.
Ezra was an obvious choice, but she wasn't sure, His Wimpy Personality vs Ezra's Might was not something that would help him.
She scowled, Entering the Guild and heading straight to the Bar, Where she gestured Mira over. The Mage Smiled warmly and went up to her, "Morning Lucy, Would you like a drink?" she chirped.
Lucy shook her head, but couldn't help but crack a smile, "Nah, I need to ask you something"
Mira's eyes widened but mischief shone in her eyes, "Ooooohh~? Did something Happen between you and Natsu~?"
Lucy went bright red, "N-N-NO! IT'S NOT LIKE THAT!" She screeched, waving her hands in front of her face as she spoke.
Mira Giggled, but gestured for her to continue, which Lucy sighed at, still blushing from the previous comment.
"I want to teach Ivan magic but I'm unable to do it myself" She explained, "My first thought was Ezra, since she knew him well enough, but I don't think He would be able to handle her!" She exclaimed the last part out of frustration, "Grey and Natsu wouldn't be serious enough, Wendy And Gajeel just wouldn't work, Levy's too soft on him and You just want to pair him up with someone" She Glared accusingly at Mira who giggled, "Aww, I guess that's true"
Lucy Growled, Glancing at Ivan was sitting at the bar a few seats down, head on the Wood and eyes following a bug that was crawling in front of him.
Mira easily sensed her frustration, tapping her chin thoughtfully she eyed the guild, "What about Laxus-"
"No"
She jumped, glancing up at where Laxus was glaring down at them, obviously he heard their conversation.
Mira Protested, "But you didn't even-"
"No"
He disappeared back onto the second floor and Lucy Sighed; While Mira looked a bit sheepish, "Umm, I would say Mystogun but he isn't here anymore…" She trailed off, glancing at the guild once again, "Yea…I guess you are right, there isn't many mages that would be fit"
Lucy Threw her arms in the air, "See my Frustration?!"
Mira nodded, A sad Pout overcoming her face, "Are you sure I can't-"
"No"
"But I-"
"No"
Mira Couldn't help but giggle, "Well ok then, But I'm not sure who else-" she cut off when her eyes suddenly lit up.
"What about Gildarts?"
Lucy Gapped at her, "Gildarts!?" She gasped, Eyes flashing to Ivan once before wincing, "oh god I don't know, he would be pretty good but I'm not sure-" "Nonsense Lucy!" Mira clapped her hands in excitement and smiled as she continued, "He's Perfect for this job! I'll go Grab him, meet us In the Back, and Bring Ivan with you!" She exclaimed before rushing up to the second floor without a second for protests.
Lucy Blinked once before getting up to do what she said, even if she was a bit worried.
Before Long Ivan was standing, Legs shaking, in the middle of the clearing, facing the cloaked mage who was looking down at him with his eyes narrowed. "This guy" He Said, Scrunching up his face and pointing down at the Shivering figure, "This guy you want me to train?!" Gildarts didn't seem to believe the girls; he couldn't imagine having to train such a…Cowardly boy.
Lucy Nodded, Arms crossed, "Yes" she seemed to not be amused by Gildarts Confusion, rather, she was annoyed.
"But he barely knows how to stand let alone fight!" he Exclaimed, turning to Lucy with his hands on his hips, "How am I supposed to Train him?"
Lucy Sighed, "Well for starters finding out what magic he has, or Figuring out what type would fit him best"
Gildarts Stared back down at Ivan, Watching as his brown eyes flickered left and right nervously before fixating on Lucy pleadingly. The women ignored it though and kept her gaze on Gildarts.
Then a small smirk drifted across Gildarts Face, "How hard can I push him?"
The sudden Question caused Lucy to blink in confusion, "Uh… Just don't kill or cripple?" she really didn't know what kind of answer he was looking for and the look of satisfaction in his eyes caused her to shiver.
Then a bang crash caused her eyes to widen, for Ivan seemed to disappear before her eyes and Gildarts was then standing, fist outstretched and cloak swishing in the wind. Her eyes darted to where Ivan was now laying on the other side of the clearing, he was whimpering, lying on his back and his one arm trying desperately to hold himself up.
"That was quick" was all Lucy could muster up.
