Chapter Four

Draco slammed his hand over his bewitched alarm clock. 'I wake up to early for my own good'. He pushed his covers off him, and for a minute he just sits down on the side of his bed, rubbing his eyes. He wasn't fully awake, so he took a shower. After that, he did what he did every morning. Brushing teeth, gelling his hair, the works. In 15 minutes he was in and out of the bathroom in his robes. He pocketed his wand which rested on his bedside table. He grabbed his schedule which was passed out the night before. He hadn't taken a look at it yet so he took a quick overview of it; he wanted to know which classes he should prepare for Monday. Contrary to popular belief, he was quite the academic. 'Damn it', he thought. His schedule read:

Period One: Arithmancy (with Gryffindor)
Period Two: Potions (with Gryffindor)
Lunch
Period Three: Herbology (with Ravenclaw)
Period Four: Care of Magical Creatures (with Gryffindor)
End of Day

'Great, just great. I spend most of my day with Gryffindors. Probably all Dumbledore's idea. That git'. He shook his head angrily and thought of what to do for the next hour before breakfast. He knew no one would wake up at least for half an hour, so he decided to explore the castle. Sure he had been there for four years already, but he had always wanted to explore the fifth floor. He had seen Potter heading that way last year with the egg from the Triwizard tournament, and he had always wanted to know where he had gone. He grabbed his invisibility cloak, or rather his father's invisibility cloak that he had borrowed.

He made sure everyone was asleep and that the common room was empty before he left. After about 5 minutes he had made his way up the grand staircase from the dungeons.

When he reached the fifth floor corridor he looked around. 'What could possibly be of interest to Potter here?' he wondered. He started roaming around the hallway. There were a few classrooms: ancient runes, muggle ('ugh' thought Draco) studies. There was also a statue of Boris the Bewildered. He tried opening all the doors and checking inside for anything suspicious, until he reached one door that he couldn't open behind the statue.

"Alohomora," Draco tried to open the door one more time. It didn't budge.

"Damn it," thought Draco aloud. He shook his head, and decided to make his way back to the Slytherin common room.

"Who's there?" Draco heard Filch's familiar voice. He quickly pulled his invisibility cloak over his head and ran off towards the grand staircase. As he reached the fourth floor he found himself almost running into Hermione Granger. He missed her by an inch as she walked up the staircase evidently coming from the owelry from the same floor, as she had a feather stuck in her quite bushy hair that he couldn't help but snigger at. She turned around, checking for someone behind her. She didn't see anyone so kept walking up.

He reached the dungeon entrance, took off his invisibility cloak, spoke the password and entered the common room. He met up with Crabbe and Goyle who were on the couched evidently waiting for Malfoy to come from wherever he had gone to. The three of them went to breakfast.
