4 Months later

4 months have past since the terrible crash of Lightning McQueen. And at Radiator Springs, Winter has recently arrive and now ending. And now it's early morning.

Welcome back to Piston Cup Talk. Around the clock where we do nothing but talk racing. Let's get to it. Starting of course with Lightning McQueen. With the season just 2 weeks away, there's still no official announcement. But with number 95 coming off his worst year on record. Don't shoot the messenger here, folks. I think it's safe to assume that Lightning McQueen's racing days are over.

Meanwhile, Jackson Storm is looking even faster...

McQueen turns off his radio. He has long recover from the crash, but now he is in a primer gray color with only his #95 as red. Then, a projector was turned on, and film's a race.

For the checkered flag. As they enter the final lap, the number 6 and number 12 cars are still fighting it out for the lead.

Lightning watches as then a familiar face appeared.

But wait! Here he comes! It's the Fabulous Hudson Hornet knocking at their door. What's he got up his sleeve today?

Then Doc did his special move.

And there it is! With one move, he's past them. The Hornet takes a decisive lead.

With in no time, Doc has gotten a huge lead from the other racers. And the screen showed a orange 1950's truck.

He's left the pack behind. His crew chief, Smokey, is loving it!

McQueen smiles.

It's unbelievable!

As Doc heads towards the finish line, he then started to drift as if his tires were losing their grip as tries to straighten out.

Oh, no! He's in trouble!

Then Doc made a sharp drift sideways, and then flips over and got into a serious barrel roll crash.

The Hudson Hornet has lost control! The Hudson Hornet has lost control!

As if turns out, this film was on the day of Doc's crash in 1954. And McQueen only look away. On the screen cars look out in concern of Doc, and the red flag was raised as the racers came to a stop and watch concern of their fellow racer.

What should have been a scene of jubilation has turned tragic, folks.

As we await on the Hudson Hornet's condition.

Then a Ambulance hurried and rushed towards Doc.

After such a devastating crash we can only hope that this race today wasn't his last.

And with that, the projector clicks. And turns off.

And McQueen had a flashback in his head about Doc telling him about his crash.

'When I finally got put together, I went back expecting a big welcome. You know what they said? You're history'. Said Doc. 'Moved right on to the next rookie standing in line. There was a lot left in me, I never got a chance to show.

The memory fades away, and McQueen looked at the spot where Doc was standing. He felt like it was only yesterday when he was telling that event. And Lightning looks upon the Newspaper of Doc's crash.

Then the door was heard opening as Sally came in.

'Hey, Stickers.' She said.

'Hey, Sal.' McQueen not taking his eyes off of the frame.

'How you feeling?'

'Yeah, great.' He sighed and glanced at her. 'really, really great.'

'Been thinking about Doc again?' she notice the frame.

'Yeah. He sighed and Sally joins next to him. 'You knowing they told him when he was done. He didn't decide. I don't want what happened to Doc to happen to me.'

'But that hasn't happened.' Said Sally.

'No, but I can't go out on the track and do the same old thing. It won't work.'

'Then change it up!' Sally suggested. 'Try something new.'

'I don't know, Sally. McQueen feeling out of ideas. 'I...'

'I don't fear failure. Be afraid of not having the chance. You have the chance. Doc didn't.'

'And you can either take it or can do what you been doing. Sitting. In here. For months. And by the way, I love what you've done with the place.' She scoffed. 'I mean the monster movie lighting and the musky air freshener. Don't let anyone tell you you're not working that primer because Wow, I have never found you more attractive.

McQueen had a slight sly look on his face knowing what she's up to.

'And now that I've been in here for a couple minutes, the stench... I'm getting kind of used to it.'

'Okay, okay, Sal. I get it. I get it.' McQueen stopping her.

'I miss you, Lightning.' Sally said. 'We all do.'

McQueen sighed. 'Try something new, huh?'

Then suddenly, Mater barged in.

'Hey, did it work, Miss Sally?' Mater asked. 'Did you set him straight with your lawyerly powers of persuasion? Is he ready to start training?'

'Well, Stinky... Stickers?' Said Sally.

McQueen chuckled by that. 'Yes, Mater, I am.'

'Whoo-hoo!' Mater cheered.

'I decide when I'm done.'

'I was hoping you'd say that.' Sally smiled.

'Okay, but I got an idea. Said Lightning. 'And I'm gonna need to talk to Rusty and Dusty, all right?'

'Oh, I'll get them on the horn. Mater chuckled. 'Get it? On the horn?

He then honks his horn. 'Oh! I just remember! Your racing pals, Bobby and Cal came over to visit.'

He was about to leave, but then he halted.

'Oops. Hold on. Got to sneeze.'

Maters tries to stop his sneeze as Lightning and Sally glance each other.

'Dadgum, I lost it. Hey, I'll see you at Flo's'

Mater then heads over to Flo's, but then he sneezed loudly and his hook was thrown back. 'I found it! Hey, watch your step.'

Then Mater's hook pulls away.

'What about the car from Evertt? Remember him?' Rusty asked on the phone. He was stuck in reverse!

'I said, you need a house with a circular driveway!'

The 2 brothers laughed.

'You boys need to get your rusty tails down here. I created a drink in your honor.' Said Flo.

'Yeah! The Rust-eze Medicated Bumper Bomb.' Said Mater. 'It goes down faster than an elevator full of Winnebagos.'

'I'd be sure to try that sometime.' Said Cal.

'Cal, you can hardly do a good comeback.' Bobby nudged him.

'Good one, Bobby!' Mater tire bumped him.

'Rusty and Dusty!' McQueen's voice rang.

'Well, look who's here.' Said Flo.

'Hey, guys!' McQueen seeing his sponsors.

'Hey, there he is! Good to see you, Lightning!' Said Rusty.

'Thanks, guys.' McQueen notice everyone is here. 'Wow. You're all here.'

'Sorry, buddy, did you want this call to be private?' Mater apologized.

'No, Mater. This is perfect.' Said Lightning.

'This might be good.' Cal said.

'Listen, thanks, everyone for sticking by me. It took me a while to figure it out, but I know now that it's time for me to make some changes.'

'Changes?' Sarge asked. 'What kind of changes?'

'It's futile to resist change, man.' Said Fillmore.

'Do you even know what you said, Fillmore?' Bobby asked.

'You're right, Fillmore.' Said McQueen.

'Really?' Fillmore confused.

'Which is why I have an announcement to make.' He continued. 'I've thought long and hard about it. Done a lot of soul-searching, and considered all of the options. And I've finally decided...

Everyone moved a little closer.

'You do want to keep racing racing?' Luigi asked fearing the worst.

'Are you kidding? Of course I want to keep racing!'

Everyone was relieved and glad.

Mater turned to Sheriff. 'Man, for a second I...' He stop and realized something. 'Wait a minute. I knew that the whole time.' He nudged Luigi.

'You sure don't give up too easily, Lightning.' Said Bobby.

'Guys! I'm talking about making this my best season yet!' Said McQueen.

'We were hoping you'd say that.' Said Rusty.

'The thing is, it I'm gonna be faster than Storm, I need to train like him.'

'We're way ahead of you, buddy!' Both Rusty and Dusty said.

'Lightning, we want you on the road first thing in the morning.' Said Rusty. So you can come out and see the brand-new...

'Rust - eze Racing Center!' He and Dusty said.

'It's wicked awesome.' Said Rusty.

'Wait, what? Rust-eze Racing Center? McQueen in disbelief.

'It's got all the fancy bells and whistles that kids are training on these days.' Said Rusty. 'We'll send Macky boy all the directions. Now get moving, all right?'

'Okay! Yes!' McQueen said.

'Fancy new training center?' Said Mater.

'Guido, come!' Luigi said. 'We have to pack the tires!'

'Hey, McQueen! Ramone said. 'You can't race in primer, man. Come on! Let's go.'

'Yeah, gray is really not a good color on ya.' Said Bobby.

'More use to seeing red with you.' Said Cal.

Sometime later, McQueen was given a new look. A new job with a lightning bolt with a flaming look at the end. And the Rust-eze logo on his hood.

'Ramone, you have done it again.' McQueen chuckled.

'It's like the Sistine Chapel on wheels.' Said Ramone.

McQueen revs his engine. 'I'm coming for you, Storm.'
