"Come on Annabeth. I just wanna go homeeeee!" Percy pouted, while Annabeth was staying after class to finish her homework that day, when she could have easily just done it at home.
"I'm almost done, Percy. We've only been here for, like, 10 minutes!" She glared at him, yet it produced no result. After years of her death glare, he'd gotten used to it.
"Fine. I'm gonna go to the office and call my dad. I really don't wanna walk today." Percy sighed. His class had PE that day, and he was tired.
Percy had to admit. Being a demigod was hard, and you risked your life all the time. But his body looked damn good. Too bad he had to get old.
"No, let's just walk home. It's only a few miles Percy."
"But Annabeth! I'm tired..."
"Too bad. Looks like I have to whip you back in shape." She got up and turned her homework in to the teacher, who smiled in delight. She always called Annabeth the best student she'd ever had. Little did she know...
Percy, accepting his defeat, walked home with Annabeth normally as ever. He kept on complaining about how he was tired and sore, and, oh, Annabeth, please carry me the rest of the way, he would sigh. To be honest, Annabeth would have if she was as strong as she was is her previous life. Yet instead, she rolled her eyes and told him to suck it up.
He invited her in for cookies as always, and his mother greeted her with a hug. It was shocking how Evelyn was so similar to Sally. Why did this happen? Why were their lives so similar to the one they had in the past?
For the next hour, Percy proceeded to have his mother 'help' him with homework, even when he knew all the answers anyways. He claimed it was a tactic to prevent her from having any suspicion.
She stayed over for dinner after they played outside for a few hours, then went home. It was a simple day, nothing special.
But Percy didn't go to school the next day. Or the day after that.
After about a week of missing school, Annabeth decided to go check on him.
She knocked on the door to his home one day after school, yet didn't expect a response. No lights were on inside, and their car wasn't in the parking lot.
This didn't raise her hopes at all. She was scared and confused. Her heart aches for her soulmate to be okay.
The past few years hadn't been easy for Annabeth either. Even though she actually had a mother who lived with her and cared about her a little more, it was hard. She felt so alone sometimes.
The divorce didn't make it any better.
She would hear her parents yelling at each other, screaming at the top of their lungs. Annabeth's heart ached on these nights.
How could I have been so foolish as to think that it would be alright?
How could I have been so stupid?
She covered her ears with her pillow, but it was useless. She couldn't escape it.
"I can't believe you think work is more important that your own family! What kind of a phsycopath only cares about money instead of human lives?"
"Are you kidding me? That's what you think of me? We've been married for 12 years and you dare to say those things to me? You're not so innocent yourself, Darryl."
"Of course. You think you're so perfect then put the blame on me. You're such a perfect person and you do everything right, don't you? Perfect, perfect Amelia. Why don't you go ask your daughter what she thinks? Do you want to know what she'll say? Huh? Because I sure do. You barely ever talk to her. And you call me the bad parent!"
"I can't take this anymore. Night after night I have to deal with you! We're leaving. I will not stay in this house with a crazy monster who has deranged thoughts, and nor will I let my daughter."
My mother busted into my room, demanding that I pack. "We are leaving. Now. Get your bags packed. I will not let you stay in this house any longer."
I stared at her with wide eyes. She felt like... a stranger.
My heart was so confused, and I was so... sad.
My chest felt empty. Like there was nothing there at all. It hurt... so much.
"No." I choked out. She wasn't my mother. This was an alien.
"Yes. Now. Get up, Annabeth!" She cried. I saw a tear escape her eyes.
Why would she want me? Annabeth couldnt help but think.
If she really did, she would have asked how her days were, once in a while, or tuck her into bed sometime. Or even bother to be there, at home, spending some quality time with her family.
She huffed, giving up. "Fine. Be the disappointment I always thought you would be." Her mom stormed out, slamming Annabeth's door shut.
She heard more yelling, and the front door slam. Annabeth looked out of her window and saw her mother's car drive away.
Oh no! Looks like things are going to end up the same way as last time... or are they? Hehehehe...
Have a nice day!
