Chapter 4
I know it's been a few months since I've updated this story, but I wanted to let you all know I haven't given up on it. So here is another chapter (will try to post more in addition to this one this week) do hope you all enjoy them especially since I had you wait so long (I apologize for that). Good day.
As you all know, the characters are property of Capcom.
Now tempers were flaring. Chris was angry with both Ada and Leon, Jill was upset at Ada as well for Chris. Claire, who had just walked in, was also upset at Ada and disappointed at Leon and Chris. So when Claire finally found Ada in a room (with red wallpaper and gold trimming along the walls), she was determined to let her have it.
Claire: So, just who do you think you to come in between my brother and Leon?!
Ada (Looking closely at Claire): Ah, you're the girl that was with Leon back in Raccoon City. (Looking cocky as ever) What was your name again, Carly?
Claire: (Slightly upset at Ada's attempt to dismiss her) You know that isn't my name, it's Claire.
Ada: Ah, well Claire it's...
Claire(interrupting): Save it. Answer my question. Just who do you think you are to come in between my brother and Leon's friendship? I will not ask you again.
Ada (confused): I would if I knew who...(thinking about earlier) wait is that Chris character your brother?
Claire: Yes, now continue.
Ada: Okay, calm down would you? I hear stress and anger increases the chance of wrinkles.
(Claire gives her a "really" look)
Claire: Ada get back on subject before you make me want to slap the hell out of you and trust me, I'm just "angry" (does airquotes for emphasis) enough to do it.
Ada: What is with the women in Chris' life? You all just love threatening me as if I should be worried.
Claire: Women in Chris'...(drifts to Sherry saying Jill was in the house), so you've managed to piss Jill off as well? My Ada, you have a way of pissing people off. I told Leon bringing you would cause nothing but trouble.
Ada: Me? Your brother is the one making crazy assumptions and punching people in the face. (walks closer to Claire, speaking almost in a whisper) By the way, tell your brother to keep his hands to himself because if he touches Leon again...
Claire: Ada shut up. One, I'm not about to stand here and allow you to lie on my brother. I'm sure whatever assumptions he has about you has some truth to them. Two, don't act like you give a damn about Leon. We both know you are just stringing him along and I can't wait for the day he drops you for good. Oh and one more thing. You threaten my brother again and Leon will definitely have a problem with me.
Ada: You and this Jill woman, both full of empty threats. Also speaking of Jill, why is it that she knows what I supposedly did yet you don't. Could it be that Chris trusts Jill more than his own sister?
Claire: You can't be serious. You're not really trying to stir shit up between me and my brother are you? I accept that Chris and Jill knows things about each other that I don't know because get it through your head, they're partners, fighting side by side in dangerous situations.
Ada (puts her hands up): Okay, I was just asking.
(A few seconds later Leon busts into the room, sees both girls standing, and his face shows massive relief)
Leon: Oh good, no bloodshed. (Looks over at Ada) Ada why are your hands up?
Ada (puts her hands down): No reason Leon, look I have to get some fresh air. (looks at Claire) I've had enough threats thrown my way for one day. See you later?
Leon: Yeah sure. (Referring to the room) nice pick by the way. It's so you Ada.
(Claire scuffs and rolls her eyes following that statement)
Ada: Thank you love. Now I'll let you two talk, I'm sure you have a lot to tell her. Claire?
Claire: We are not finished, Ada.
Ada: You're right. Goodbye Leon.
(With that Ada is out of there and Leon and Claire talk some more)
Leon: So Claire, what really happened up here?
Claire: I told her what she needed to be told, that's all.
Leon: Somehow I just don't believe that. By the way you still look pissed off. What really happened?
Claire: You want to know what she said. She threatened by brother, that's what.
Leon: I'm sure she didn't mean it. She was probably just defending herself. You can come across as a hardass when it comes to certain things, especially your brother..
Claire (begins talking in baby talk): Aww big bad Leon has to protect poor wittle Ada. (normal voice) Why are you so quick to jump to this woman's defense, it's mind boggling to me.
Leon: Because I believe in her. But I will talk to her. Anyway let's change the subject now please? Look we are on vacation, living in this beautiful mansion for three months, a mansion that you haven't even been able to tour yet. So let's find Sherry and Jake because I know she would want to show you around and she has been dying for you to meet him. (playfully nudging her) Hmmm, what do you say?
Claire (relaxed and smiling): Okay, okay. This is a beautiful place and I know Sherry would never let me hear the end of it if I don't meet Jake today. Leon, what's this kid like, really?
Leon: Oh, you'll find out soon enough. Come on.
So while Claire and Leon go look for Jake and Sherry arm in arm, after looking around Barry eventually finds Chris and Jill's room and is met with love and a hug from Jill
Jill (full of happpiness): Barry, Hello it's so great to see you again.
Barry: Ah, Jill. It's so great to see you too. You look great. You have a nice haircut and your skin is getting less pale.
Jill: Thank you, so do you. However I don't think my skin will ever be the same again.
Barry: That's okay. You're still the beautiful Jill I know. But still, damn that Wesker. If he wasn't dead already I would kill him myself.
Jill: Well lucky for us, the bastard is dead. Speaking of Wesker, did you meet that Jake kid yet?
Barry: Young Sherry's friend?
Jill: Oh, you met Sherry and Jake wasn't with her? Odd.
Barry: Yeah I did, she's such a sweet girl. But why is it odd that Jake wasn't with her and what about him and Wesker?
Jill: Well Jake is...
(Chris comes out the bathroom, cutting Jill off. He is so happy to see Barry)
Chris: Barry (gives him a handshake and hug) How long have you been here Barry?
Jill: Yeah, now that I think about it, I didn't hear you come in.
Barry: (laughing) well I have been about 10 minutes, so don't feel bad.
Chris: Oh man, it's been too long Barry.
Barry: Just two years, but I heard about what happened over the past year. I'm really sorry about that. I tried to help Jill and the BSAA find you. Also about your young friend Piers, I'm really sorry. It's always hard to lose a teammate, let alone a friend. I'm here if you need me Chris, for anything.
Chris: Thanks. I know and I do appreciate it. So Barry, you did you come here with?
Barry: Ah yes, I came with your sister.
Chris: Claire is here? Now? and she didn't want to come see me first?
Barry: Yeah, see that's why I came to find the two of you, besides coming to say hello of course (smiles). Chris, I wanted to talk to you about what happened with the Leon fellow. I know you punched him. Don't deny it, I saw the bruise.
Chris (slightly upset): So you decided to confront me is that right Barry?
Jill: Barry, there was so much behind that punch, please don't be too hard on Chris.
Barry: No, I'm not here to make you a villian Chris. I just want to know what happened. I won't say anything. I'll just listen, you look like you could use that right about now.
Chris: I'm sorry, I don't mean to jump on you Barry. It's just that Leon brought the woman that was responsible for all of that here and then after I confronted her, he defended the bitch. I just got so angry and lost it. I didn't mean to hit Leon, but I lost control. I will definitely apologize to him, but for now that's all. I can't be friends with him, not if he's going to defend her to me of all people.
Jill: You will take all the time you need (rubs his shoulder).
Barry (looking like he's thinking about something): Say this woman wouldn't happen to be named Ada would it?
(Chris & Jill looking at each other shocked at what Barry just said)
Chris & Jill: Yeah, that's her.
Chris: How do you know that Barry? I never got the chance to even tell you her name.
Barry: Claire. In fact that's why she didn't come to see you right away. When she heard about what happened, she wanted to confront Ada right away. She asked me to talk to you until then. As your friend, I happily came to check up on you.
Chris: and I love you for it. So where are Claire and that woman now?
Barry: Well, the last I heard, Ada was looking for a room for her and Leon so they might be up here somewhere.
Jill: Well we better find them because...
Chris: If she touches my sister, I promise you two I will kill her and this time it will stick.
Jill: No you won't. I will take care of her. I won't let you ruin your life for her.
Chris: and you think I would let you ruin yours?
Barry: I still don't understand how in the hell you two aren't married. I keep telling you two you belong together.
Jill: Barry stop, Chris and I are best friends that's all.
Chris: Yeah and we are perfectly fine with that.
Barry: and that's a damn shame. There should be a few little Chris's and Jill's running around in this world by now.
Chris and Jill: Barry!
Jill: Not everyone can be happily married with children like you. With our jobs, children let alone marriage at just a big no at the moment.
Barry: I understand that but you can't work forever. Besides I just know you two could make it work. Children and all.
Chris (smiling): Barry you're a funny guy, that's why I like you so much. However we should really get going guys. I need to find my sister.
Barry: Yeah, come on birdies.
So while Chris, Jill, and Barry are trying to find Claire and Ada not knowing they had already finished their conversation, Sherry eventually finds Jake out on the back patio eating an apple.
Jake: So did you get to talk to Hero like you wanted to?
Sherry (sitting down next to him smiling): Yes, yes I did.
Jake (noticing her smiling): Okay I know I didn't do it so I would like to know. What's got you so happy? Your face is plastered with the cheesiest smile.
Sherry: I'm happy because Claire has finally made it here. So come on, get up so we can go inside. Besides she might be done with Ada now.
Jake (confused): Done with Ada?
Sherry: Yeah, I told her about the confrontation in the kitchen and she didn't appreciate the following fall out between Chris and Leon, so she decided to confront her.
Jake (slight irritated): Wait, so you're telling me I'm missing out on a girlfight right now? Sherry, why didn't you come get me sooner?
Sherry (annoyed): Jake this isn't a joke. This is my best friend you're talking about, not some random lady.
Jake: Look, I'm sorry okay, but don't tell me you're not wondering how that conversation went?
Sherry: Okay, maybe I'm a little interested. I know Claire doesn't care for Ada so I know it couldn't have been too pretty. I just hope Leon got to them in time.
Jake: Hero stays in the middle huh. Sounds like this drama is all Redfield's fault and I'm suppose to be the troublemaker.
Sherry (joking and smiling): No, you're still a troublemaker.
(Claire and Leon sees Sherry and Jake on the patio and Claire makes her presence known)
Claire (shouting) Sherry!
Sherry (Smiling and waving): Ah there she is. (pulling Jake up from his seat) Come on Jake.
Jake: Okay, okay.
Sherry: Don't you dare give her a hard time, like you did Chris and Jill.
Jake: Sherry stop, I'm meeting your friends, not your parents.
(Sherry gives him the worst look in life)
Jake: Sorry, that was kind of insensitive wasn't it.
Sherry: Don't worry about it.
Claire (walking up with Leon): Finally found you two.
Sherry (with all the excitement in the world): Jake there is someone I'd like you to meet, this is Claire Redfield, my best friend and the reason I'm alive today. Claire, this my friend Jake Muller.
(Claire extends her hand and Jake shakes it)
Claire: Hey there Jake. It's nice to finally meet you and put a face with the name I keep hearing so much.
Jake: Same here. Sherry, you didn't tell me Chris' sister was so pretty.
Sherry: Yeah she is, isn't she?
Claire: Oh stop it you two. Jake I just wanted to thank you.
Jake (confused): For what?
Claire: What do you mean for what? For taking care of my girl (put her arm around Sherry) back during that crazy mission Sherry told me about. I swear had I not been busy in Australia on Terrasave business, I would have come for the two of you myself. Still six months, I should have tried harder.
Leon: Claire don't be too hard on yourself. I didn't know she was missing either and we both work for the same agency. (Looking to Sherry) I'm very sorry about that.
Sherry: Why are you two apologizing? Look, I'm fine, we are fine and we are all together now. Is that not what matters?
Claire: Yes Sherry, that's all that matters. Jake I hope you and my brother can work out your issues while we are all here.
Jake: Claire, I doubt I will ever be a fan of your brother.
Claire: Why? What did he do to you that was so terrible?
Jake: Wait! Sherry, you didn't tell her?
Claire: Tell me what?
Sherry: I really wanted to, but I didn't want to tell you over the phone.
Claire: Sherry, you never keep secrets from me. Is it that bad?
Sherry: It's not a secret, well it kind of is, but I wanted to tell you in person.
Claire: What sweety, tell me what?
Jake (cutting in): What Sherry wanted to tell you is that I am Albert Wesker's son.
Claire (laughing and not believing him): Okay, where are the cameras?
Leon: Cameras? Claire what are you talking about?
Claire: Isn't it obvious? I'm being punked. I mean come on. Wesker had a child and said child is you? Okay you guys got me good. Come on out camera man.
Sherry: Claire this isn't a trick, he's telling the truth.
(Realizing that Sherry is telling her the truth thanks to the sincere look on her face, Claire calms down)
Claire: Oh my...really? (looks to Jake) You're really Wesker's son?
Jake: Yes, do you have a problem with that?
Claire: I, I can't believe it. Sherry, I can't believe you didn't tell me earlier. Leon, you knew, didn't you?
Leon: Yes, but that's only because I saw the data file back in China.
Claire: Oh my god, I'm going to be living with Wesker's son (sits down to think).
Jake: Of course, you are just like your brother.
Sherry (slightly disappointed in Claire's words): Yes, but Jake is his own man, he's nothing like his father. I should know. Also I can't believe you of all people would say such a thing Claire.
Claire: Sherry,you're right I shouldn't have said that. (looking up at Jake) Jake, I'm really sorry if I am coming across judgmental or standoffish. It's just a lot to process. But still it doesn't make my actions right. I feel that you aren't your father because he would have never helped Sherry. Hell we wouldn't have helped anyone. So from this point forward, I will look at you as Jake Muller, not as Wesker's son. You deserve that much from me after what you did for Sherry. Again I'm really sorry about what I said. Are we cool?
Jake: Yeah we're cool. I think I misjudged you as well. You're nothing like that brother of yours. So, anyway, I take it you knew my father too.
Claire: Yes, I only met him once, but when I did he practically beat the hell out of me and then used me as bait to get to my brother. However, I hated him not only because of that, but because of the pain he put my brother through.
Jake: So it looks like Jill isn't the only person he's hurt.
Claire: Hey compared to me he ruined her life, but I'll leave her to tell you because I don't know all the details. Still, Chris, Jill, and I are not the only people he's hurt who will be in this house. He hurt Barry too and I'm sure other people who aren't even here yet. However, I still don't get you can't stand Chris though?
Jake: I'd rather get into later. So who's this Barry that you speak of?
Sherry: Oh, that's right, you haven't met him yet. He went to go talk to Chris about what happened eariler.
Jake: Why, does he know Redfield or something?
Claire: Yes, Barry is a close family friend.
Leon: I hope Barry was able to get through to Chris, he was out of control, no offense Claire.
Claire: None taken. I too hope that he did. Well we should try to find them because I really want to see my brother and it's important for you to get to know everyone Jake.
Jake: Is it really?
Claire: Yes. Now come on and show me around this place, I have yet to see it.
Sherry: That's a great idea. Maybe we can find you a room, hopefully one close to ours.
While Claire is getting her grand tour of the mansion, Chris, Jill, and Barry are still upstairs searching for her and Ada
Chris: Did you find her?
Jill: No, it was another empty room.
Barry (shouting while walking from down the hall): Same here. (Walking towards them) Say let's look in the North end of the building.
Chris: Good Idea.
(So the three finally make it to that side of the building and find Leon and Ada's room)
Jill: Okay, this room must be it. That Ada seems to have a love for the color red.
Chris: Okay this is it, but where did they go?
Barry: We must have just missed them. Claire and Leon probably went to go find Jake and Young Sherry. Sherry really wanted Claire to meet Jake.
Chris: Great from one troublemaker to another.
Barry: What do you mean? Sherry said he was a little rough around the edges but...
Jill: A little? Sherry was definitely understating that tidbit about him. He's insensitive, just like his father before him.
Barry: Jill, what are you talking about? I know you asked me if I met the kid earlier but...
Chris (interrupting): Sherry didn't tell you about him when you talked to her?
Barry: No, but at this poiint I wish someone would.
Jill: Well I guess I will. Barry, he's Wesker's son. That's what I was going to say eariler.
Barry (in shock): Wesker's boy? Wait, since when did Wesker have a child? He never mentioned him before.
Chris: Apparently Wesker didn't even know about him. In fact Jake just found out last year while captured. He also knows I had a part in killing him and he resents me for it.
Jill: Which I can understand but don't like.
Barry: Yeah, in his eyes you took away the chance to meet his father. Still if that kid only knew you spared him.
Chris: Barry, I just don't think he's ever going to see it that way.
Jill: Well he should at try. There is no reason for him to hate you so much for doing what needed to done.
Barry: I'm sure living here will help him see that you are not this terrible guy.
Chris: We'll see.
(As they are talking, Leon and company can be heard talking down in the main hall)
Barry: Wait, do you two hear that? It sounds like Leon and Claire are downstairs.
Chris: Well let's go, I can't wait to see my sister.
(So the three of them go downstairs to greet the others. When they get there, Chris spots Claire almost instantly)
Chris: Claire!
Claire: Chris?
(The siblings instinctively hug each other)
Chris: You finally made it here. So glad to see you.
Claire: I'm a little disappointed in you, but I'm happy to see you too.
Chris: Barry told me you heard about what happened today.
Claire: So will you apologize to Leon? Please?
Chris: Okay.
(Chris then walks over to Leon)
Chris: Leon, I'm sorry about assaulting you. It wasn't necessary and you didn't deserve that. You're my buddy at it was wrong to put my hands on you. I really wish I could punch...
Leon: Look I accept your apology but don't threaten Ada like that again Chris.
Chris: See, this is why I can't be your friend right now. So again I apologize, I won't touch you again and I'll leave it at that.
Leon (loudly that everyone could hear): If that's how you are going to be Chris, then to hell with you.
Chris: Excuse me?
Leon: You heard me.
Chris: You must want another bruise to go with the one you have now Leon.
Jill: Chris stop.
Chris: No, Jill. If he wants to go with me, then I'm just letting him know what I will do to him.
Leon: I'm not going to let you off the hook this time. If you touch me Chris, I will retaliate.
Claire (screaming from the other side of the room, pleading): Stop! Would you both just stop arguing?
(Both men stop on Claire's insistence, deciding to stand on complete opposite sides of the room)
Leon (walking to the left): It's fine Claire. I've had enough of Chris' bullshit for today anyway.
Chris (walking to the right):and I enough of yours pretty boy.
Claire: Please guys. I swear I will make Ada pay for this.
(After hearing Ada's name, Jill walks up to Claire and says the following)
Jill: Not a fan of Ada either?
Claire: No. From the moment I first saw her, I knew she was no good.
Jill: It's just something about that woman that irks me. I just don't like the way that she upsets your brother.
Claire: You really care about him huh?
Jill: Yes I do, and I will not have this Ada woman ruin his time here.
Claire: I'm with you on that one.
Jill: So I heard you confronted her. How did that go?
Claire: Terrible Jill. I swear the coldness that woman gave off just made me more upset and I just wanted to slap her even more.
Jill: Hmm, seems like she just has that effect on people.
(The two women then proceed to laugh at that statement)
Claire: Yes she does. Say can we talk about something else. I mean it's been years since I've last seen you, how are you doing?
Jill: Doing better than the last time you saw me that's for sure.
Claire: Well, you look better too. I am happy to see that you are a brunette again. That blonde did not fit you in my opinion. Nice cut too.
Jill: Thank you. But you are not alone in that opinion. I changed my hair back as soon as I could. Say, you're still working for Terrasave right? At least that's what Chris tells me.
Claire: Yes I am. I couldn't be happier at Terrasave, Jill.
Jill: That's great, I really am happy to hear that. However I do wish you would have joined us at BSAA all those years ago. You would have made a hell of an agent.
Chris (walking up): She speaks the truth Claire. The BSAA could have used you. Plus it would be nice to see you more often.
Claire: I know, but I feel at home with Terrasave. I just know I'm doing the right thing there.
Chris: I get it.
Claire: I just wish you and Leon could be this understanding with each other.
Chris: No Claire, please don't start. I want to talk about you, I want to talk to my sister. How is your friend Danny doing?
Jill: Yeah, I haven't seen him in years.
Claire: We figured that since I'm here, he would go out and visit his family in Hawaii.
Jill: Ahh, Hawaii sounds nice.
Claire: Yeah, it's really beautiful down there. And Chris, I wish you would stop referring to him as just my friend. He's my boyfriend, you know.
Chris: I know, I'm just teasing. Hope I can see him at some point this year though.
Claire: and you will. But first, you will make up with Leon.
Chris (smiling): and I thought I was the big brother here.
Meanwhile as that conversation is happening, Sherry can be seen introducing Jake to Barry.
Sherry: Jake, this is Claire's friend Barry Burton. Barry, this is my friend Jake Muller.
Barry: Wesker's boy.
Jake: Yeah I am, you got a problem with that Pops?
Sherry: Wait, Barry how to you know that sir?
Barry (answering Sherry): Chris and Jill.
Jake: How did I know Redfield's name would come up.
Barry: First of all young man, my name isn't Pops so you will not call me that again. Secondly, unless you are like that man, then I have no problem with you.
Sherry: Jake didn't mean to be disrespectful Barry, I'm sorry.
Jake: Sherry please, I don't need you to speak for me but I do apologize. Anyway, I heard you knew my father on a personal level too. I take it you didn't like him either?
Barry: Jake, I hated your father with everything in me.
Jake: Why?
Barry: You really want to know?
Jake: Yeah, I do. It seems like everyone in this house so far hated my father. Look I hate him too, he walked...(he stops after realizing he's said too much). I just have to know what kind of man he was because I don't want to end up like that loser.
Sherry: and you won't Jake, not unless you choose to.
Barry: She's right boy. I have already seen in you what I never saw in Wesker, emotion. Anyway, I will tell you about what your father did to me, but later. I don't want to upset myself too much, at least not on the first night anyway.
Sherry: Is it that bad Barry? I know Jill wasn't in a talking mood either and her story seems terrible just by seeing her face when Jake asked.
Barry: Not as bad as Jill's dilemma, but still pretty upsetting to think about to this day.
Jake: Ugh, was this bastard good to anyone?
Barry: He wasn't good to your mother?
Jake: I rather not talk about that.
Barry: Fair enough.
Sherry: I don't mean to sound insensitive, but I am relieved that I never saw that side of him. Still, it was because of his existence that I was a government prisoner all those years.
Barry: What?
Sherry (feeling guilty about the concerned look on Barry's face): Never mind, I'd rather no get into it right now sir.
Barry: Well you don't have to if you don't want to. We will share our stories when we are ready.
Sherry: Thank You.
Jake: I don't know about you two, but I am sick of talking about my father, although I'm holding you to your story Barry, Jill too.
Barry: Same here, but be patient with Jill, he did quite the number on her.
While these insightful conversations is going on, the next houseguests will be approaching the mansion soon.
