The Betrayal
Lilith stormed into the house with Angela quickly following behind her. "Lilith," Angela called after her sister. Lilith ignored her and ran upstairs. Mary Sue, who was sitting at the kitchen table, put down her newspaper.
"What's going on, girls?" she asked sternly.
The girls stopped dead, but didn't say anything.
Mary Sue sighed in frustration.
"Well, it looks like we're going to have to do this the hard way. Both of you, come sit."
The girls reluctantly sat at the kitchen table.
"Now nobody moves until somebody explains what's going on."
"Angela started a rumor about me!" Lilith yelled.
"No, I didn't," Angela screamed.
"Hey! One at a time, Angela." Mary Sue intervened.
Lilith continued berating Angela with hindsight explanations.
"I told Angela that gossip was stupid and not to stoop to such a low level and she started a rumor about me and some girl at school put on the internet."
"Angela, is that true?" Mary Sue asked.
"Sort of. But the stuff Jasmine put on her webpage wasn't what I told her." Angela defended.
"What did you tell her?" Lilith asked.
"I'd like to know, too." Mary Sue added.
"Well, I only told Jasmine that Lilith is the first in our grade to start puberty."
"You told everyone I got my period?" Lilith screamed.
"That's not what they think, though. I only did it because Jasmine started a rumor about me and Meadow. And now because of Jasmine's webpage, everyone just thinks you're pregnant."
"What?" Mary Sue asked.
Then the room got quiet again. No one really knew what to say. Mary Sue decided to intervene again.
"Okay, this whole thing is really messed up. Angela, from what I've heard you're the cause of this. You need to fix it. Lilith, honey, rumors like this come and go among teens in school. It'll blow over after awhile," Mary Sue hugged Lilith.
"Go ahead on upstairs and do your homework, girls."
The sisters obeyed and went to their rooms. Both could barely focus on schoolwork when all they could think about was what would happen when they went back to school. Lilith was even angrier at Angela now than she was before. She really hoped Angela knew how to fix the problems she caused. Angela was afraid she would be shunned at school and worse, that her sister would stay mad at her forever and never trust her again.
