"Mac, you shitty brat!"
"Ooh, use of profanity on a student?" Mac smirked smugly, swiftly dodging a 'falcon punch' from the teacher. "That hurt my feelings. I might just have to report you~!"
Captain Falcon continued to throw consecutive punches at the boxer, ignoring the protests of Zelda and Peach and the cheers and laughter coming from the rest of the class.
Ike dragged his eyes from the window to the comical scene happening in the front of the class and rolled his eyes; Falcon waking up and reacting violently due to the inappropriate graffiti on his face (Mac had decided to draw a large penis on his forehead, this time) usually signified that the class had ended. He ruffled Pit's brunette hair to wake him up from the nap he ended up in, and yawned softly.
"You yawn as if you've done anything this lesson." Zelda said irritably, suddenly standing in front of the desk Ike, Red, Link and Pit were gathered around, hands resting on her hips.
Pit was quick to jump to Ike's defence, "weren't you trying to stop Falcon from killing Mac just a second ago? Leave Ike alone."
"Huh, you're almost as rude as Kuro." Zelda remarked, smirking at Pit's annoyed grunt at the mentioning of his twin brother. "And where's your tie? It's compulsory."
The brunette crossed his arms. "I'm nothing like him. And, uh, I lost it."
Zelda shook her head in response to his poor excuse, then turned to Link, who's irritated facial expression conveyed that he saw this coming. "How many times have I told you to stop wearing that hoodie under your blazer? And why is the hood always up?"
She yanked down the hood of his dark green hoodie and pulled on one of his exceptionally long and pointy ears, the same ones she had. "There's a no need to be ashamed of your Hylian features, so stop trying to hide them."
"I'm not ashamed of anything." He yanked his hood back up. "We know you're the student council president, but there's no need to be so up tight all the damn time, Zel."
As the two Hylians began their usual bickering, Red (who had been sketching for the whole lesson) placed his sketch pad in his bag and adjusted his signature cap on his head. "Come on guys, we have P.E next." He glanced at Zelda, acknowledging her presence. "You should get going too, prez. Wouldn't want to be late now, would you?"
The Hylian ignored him and span on her heel, making her way out of the classroom with Peach closely behind her.
Link let out a sigh as he swung his bag over his shoulder. "She never used to be like this back in the day. Like, she used to actually be fun to be around back in elementary."
Red hummed in agreement as the four left the classroom and trekked down the hall. Ike decided to speak, "But now she seems to have a giant stick permanently stuck up her ass."
They burst out into laughter at his comment, and Ike's lips tugged upwards into a small smile. Being able to maintain his sense of humour now and then was something he saw as an achievement. It convinced him that he hasn't completely sunken into the sea of despair he had been neck deep in for years.

"Aren't you gonna get changed, Ike?"
The indigo-haired teen froze at the sound of Marth's voice. He looked up to see his friend's cerulean eyes looking down at him seated on the bench, a warm smile gracing his lips. "You've been sitting there staring into space. We have to meet on the track in less than five minutes."
Ike ran a hand through his indigo spikes. "I'd rather wait till everyone leaves, I guess."
"Awww, you too scared to show your body?" Link teased, overhearing their conversation. The shirtless Hylian walked over to them as Ike rolled his eyes and Marth chuckled. "Come on, dude, we're all men here. Showing a little skin shouldn't be a problem!"
He grinned and involuntary patted Ike's shoulder with more force that was needed - Ike flinched at the sudden contact and bit his lips to hold back a groan of pain. That bruise on his shoulder was still fresh from two days ago - it was a result of his father stamping on him repeatedly all over his upper body.
'It hurts . . .' Ike said inwardly, squinting as the pain electrified across his shoulders. He dug his nails into his hands and forced a smile at the beaming Hylian male. The last thing he wanted was a repeat with what happened with Roy, just because he was too weak to his wounds.
"Link, Marth, class is gonna start. And put your shirt on." Cloud's stoic voice sounded throughout the near empty changing room as he approached them. His frame towered above Link and Marth (slightly intimidating the former) and he nodded at Ike as a greeting.
Link quickly pulled the white t-shirt over his head and put on his green hoodie. "See you guys out there." He said before stepping out. Marth remained there, however, his usually warm cerulean eyes seeming to be locked in somewhat of a silent battle with Cloud's bright but sharp sapphire ones.
Ike watched them quietly, wondering where the sudden tension between the blonde and the bluenette had risen from. It didnt last long at all, however, for Marth's expression melted into its usual kind one.
"Alright, but don't take too long Ike." Was all he said before briskly walking past Cloud and out the changing room. Cloud slightly glanced over his shoulder to see Marth's retreating figure soon disappear. He then shifted his attention to Ike, who blinked at him owlishly.
"Hey, Clou-"
"That bruise isn't gonna heal anytime soon."
Ike's froze, his greeting cut off by Cloud's sudden statement. Said teen had his sapphire orbs narrowed and focused on Ike's figure, and the indigo-haired boy felt as if he was being held captive by his gaze.
This was the first time any one of his friends had directly addressed his bruises before.
Ike remained silent, digging his nails into his hands again. He just now remembered that Cloud had seen his bruise yesterday while he was on his way home, but chose not to say anything.
'So why now?' Ike thought, annoyance growing like weed in his system. He masked his sudden irritation and anxiety with a small chuckle. "Uh . . . I guess not, huh?"
Cloud casually sat next to him on the bench, and Ike visibly stiffened. "You should get it treated."
"It's nothing serious." Ike shrugged. "It'll heal in a couple more days."
"No, it won't." Cloud's voice had a sudden edge to it, slicing through the calm atmosphere. His aqua orbs fixated on Ike's side profile. He lowered his gaze to notice Ike's nails pressed into the skin of his hands, leaving red marks.
He raised blonde brows at this, and began to ask carefully, "Come to think of it . . . how did you get that bru-"
The handsome blonde was cut off by the locker room door opening involuntarily, and a teen with thick spiky golden blonde hair stepped halfway into the room. He was dressed in the standard outfit for P.E, but also had a yellow scarf wrapped losely around his neck.
His violet eyes stared blankly at Ike and Cloud. "Um, Ken-sensei told me to come get you two. He's pretty pissed, and he said you're gonna have to run extra laps around the track."
Ike softly exhaled, realising that he was holding his breath all this time. He gave the boy, namely Isaac, a small smile in relief of his sudden presence. "Alright. Thanks, Isaac." He said, and he meant it.
Cloud was quiet for a while before he got up from the bench, making his way towards the door where Isaac stood. Before he left, he glanced over his shoulder at Ike, his eyes encasing an emotion that Ike couldn't name.
"Don't rush yourself." Was all the blonde said as he left, leaving Ike to his own company.

"Finally decided to show up, huh, Aether?" Ken Masters, the P.E teacher for the day, crossed his arms over his broad and muscular chest as Ike approached and joined the rest of the boys. Ken was a renowned martial artist and also ran the karate club in Smash Academy, but his inflated ego and arrogant nature made him unpopular with the students. "Get in line so I can finally start this class."
"Sorry." Ike apologised sheepishly as he stood between Marth and Roy, the latter grinning at him brightly. Unlike the rest of the boys, Ike opted to wear the navy blue tracksuit bottoms instead of the standard shorts of the same colour, and also wore a long-sleeved navy blue hoodie. This outfit choice aided him in concealing the multiple bruises on his body.
"So ladies, since I'm only covering the class due to absence of that pale bastard," Ken said, referring to their usual P.E teacher Mr. Fit, "I guess I'll just let you guys play a nice game of football, but I'll be deciding the teams, so listen up!"
The teens listened as Ken began yelling out their surnames (as he always did) and instructed them to make two seperate groups.
"Highwind, Belmont, Aether, Pherae, Louise, Sun, you'll be shooting into that goal." Ken addressed Link, a muscular brunette named Richter, Ike, Roy, Mac and Isaac respectively, and motioned to the goal post on the left side of the field. "Strife, Icarus, Lowell, Elwind, Monado, Amamiya, you'll obviously be shooting to the goal on the right."
Cloud, Pit, Marth, Robin, Shulk and a blonde, feminine looking male called Saki made their way to the field in the order they were called. They all positioned themselves on the pitch and once Ken blew a whistle, immediately began playing.
Ike managed to maintain his distance whenever the ball came towards his direction; he wasn't a big fan of football to begin with, and just wanted to get the game over and done with.
"Over here, Saki!" Pit exclaimed. Saki was quick and skillful with his feet as he effortlessly maintained the ball across the pitch towards pit while simultaneously dodging advanced by Mac, Richter, Link and Roy (Robin didn't think to try and intercept him). Saki booted the ball with a little too much force, as it flew over Pit's small frame and ended up in Ike's direction.
"Just great." Ike muttered as he readied himself to control the ball. Cloud, who was on the other side of the pitch, closes the gap between Ike and himself in what seemed like record timing.
Before the ball could land at Ike's feet, Cloud had brutally slammed himself into the him. Ike's eyes widened as the healing bruises on his shoulder and torso erupted in pure white pain as he was knocked on his feet and sent rolling across the ground.
"Ike!" Marth, Robin and Roy yelled in unison and dashed towards their friend's motionless figure. Ken blew his whistle, signifying for the game to be paused.
Ike was curled up on the floor, eyes shut tight and his jaw clenched as his body throbbed dangerously in pain. He let out a groan as the rest of the boys gathered around him, Cloud standing a short distance away from them.
"Ike!"
"Are you okay?"
"He looks like he's hurting real bad."
Ike couldn't hear their words of concern. All he could hear was his father's ire-consumed voice dehumanizing and insulting his existence.
'Please . . . stop . . .'
Marth kneeled down next to his friend, stretching his hand out towards him. "Ike, are you-"
The indigo-haired teen curled into himself tighter in effort to avoid Marth's hand, hands in his hair and lips quivering.
He then opened his eyes, and that was the first time Marth had seen genuine fear encased in his orbs of midnight blue.
