Chapter 3

Yui wondered if she had done the right thing that night. She knew she had to tell Ayato that he couldn't treat her as he pleased but she had never imagine that he would react like this. She had been preparing herself for him being more forceful. He was not someone who would give anything up without a fight, but ever since that night, after he left her room, he hadn't done or said anything at all to her.

She had expected that he would be angrier. Or at least demanding some short of explanation from her. For him giving up so easily... Yui didn't know what to feel. She was relieved because it was easier for her but it also felt weird at the same time. He gave up so easily... So she didn't mean anything for him, that it was so easy for him to throw her away like that. For a weird reason, it made her sad. They met few times in the living room, or in their school but he acted as if he didn't see her at all. Actually, it hurt so much but she couldn't do anything. She had decided to let him go, now she had to learn how to live without him.

That wouldn't be easy.

When he went out that evening, Yui needed to take a walk to clear her mind off, she saw Ayato and Maria in the living room. Ayato was half laying in the couch while Maria was straddling him. Her cheeks turned beet red and she quickly averted her eyes. She didn't want to see that. She quickened her pace and tried to ignore the fact that Maria was moaning loudly as Ayato's hand fondled her breasts.

Yui walked so hurriedly that she didn't realize that the red haired's lime eyes were following her until she closed the door behind her.

"Ayato, do you know where the girl is?"

Raito entered the room casually until he saw what his brother and his fiancee were doing in the couch. He put his hands in his pocket and whistled, making both vampires turned their head toward the handsome vampire.

"Can't you see that I am busy right now?" Ayato furrowed his brows as he placed his hands on Maria's waist. He looked bored but Raito knew better than that. He eyed his brother suspiciously. Ayato glared at his brother, "what?"

Raito sighed he leaned on a single couch in front of Ayato, "you know, that girl might be crying now."

Maria frowned, she looked at Raito accusingly, "and why is that?"

Raito shrugged, his lips curled into a playful smile, "why do you think?"

The female vampire creased her perfectly shaped brows, "she likes Ayato-sama, doesn't she?"

The younger brother chuckled. He could feel Ayato eyed him angrily as he straightened his body and raised both of his hands in front of his chest as if he surrendered. He took few steps back, shaking his head while smiling, "ooops, I talked too much, didn't I? Okay, I will leave now. I will go find Kanato, maybe he knows where the stupid girl is."

Ayato gritted his teeth as his brother left the room. He had a feeling that the stupid brother of his had done that intentionally. Now after the brown haired man had left the room, Ayato had to face Maria, who eyed him suspiciously. He didn't feel like explaining anything right now but he knew that his fiancee would not let it go just like that.

"That girl," Maria started, her voice were bitter, it was clearly painted on her face that she didn't like it, "she loves you, doesn't she?"

Ayato chuckled, both hands still rested on her slim waist, "why does it matter?" He kissed her fully on her lips, "she is human. What's good from her is her blood. Only her blood." He placed open mouthed kiss on her long neck, "why? Did it bother you, hmm?"

"Of course it bothers me!" Maria said angrily, "we're going to get married and I don't want that woman to ruin everything, I don't want her to think that she had a chance with you!" she stopped, both hand on his chest as she looked into his eyes, "don't tell me you like that human!"

He shook his head and laughed, "are you jealous? Maria, she is just a mere human, what are you afraid of?" he smirked, "Everything would go just like the plan, you don't have to worry about it." he kissed her casually, "now, let's just forget it okay, she's out of your league, don't worry about her."

Maria looked unsure for a moment but Ayato looked so sure of what he said, "So, everything would go according to the plan?"

He smirked attractively, "yes of course. Everything would be okay..."

All would go just like the plan, he thought as he once again kissed the beautiful woman, my plan.

"Here you are again. What's so special about this place?"

Yui tilted her head and saw Subaru stood in front of her, hands deep in his pockets. He didn't wait for her answer and sat down on the bench beside her. He rested his back and pulled out his hands of the pocket and put them behind his head boyishly.

"So he had turned you down."

Of course Yui knew exactly what he was talking about.

"Actually," she said slowly, "I didn't confess. But yeah, I guess it's over between us." She laughed nervously before she added, "not that anything had been started between us. It was just... I guess, I give up."

When she said that she was looking at the sky so she didn't recognize the small smile on his handsome face. However, the smile didn't last longer than a second. Subaru wondered if it was okay for him to put his hand around her shoulder and pulled her body toward him. That would make her feel better, and more importantly, that would make him feel better...

"I think it is not right."

Subaru frowned, "what?"

"For me to live with you all, in the manor. It doesn't feel right. Ayato had been ignoring me... I feel so out of place. We were in the same room but he acted as if I wasn't there..."

She wanted to add 'it hurts' but she decided not to say it. She had decided that she shouldn't have been depending on anyone anymore. She knew she was just a mere human that wasn't only mortal but also weak. She knew she would be pale in comparison with Maria, his fiancee, but even so, she wished that she could be stronger. She would show him that she could be alright by herself...

But how? Even earlier when he acted so cold toward her hurt her so much, how could she lived far from him? Could she really let him go?

Subaru studied the girl's face. She looked sad. Lately she always made this kind of face and and it pissed him off because he knew the one who was responsible for her sadness was that stupid brother of his. He knew because he had been watching her for a while now. No, honestly, he had been watching her this whole time. Ever since she came into the manor and live with them... He had always been watching her so he knew how her her expression changed a lot when she was with Ayato. There were those kind of special expression which she only showed to Ayato. Maybe, Yui herself didn't realize it but Subaru did.

Ayato was stupid. His ambition for power had overcome his love for the girl. No, maybe he didn't even ever love Yui. That bastard didn't deserve Yui.

Subaru had made his mind. All this time he had been keep silence, watching from a far. He hadn't done anything because he knew the girl loved Ayato and she was happy just by staying close to him. But now was different. Ayato had let her go, she had decided to give her feeling up.

This was his chance and he wouldn't let it slip away.

"Come with me."

Yui startled. She looked at the white haired vampire.

"W-what? Subaru kun?"

"You didn't want to live in the manor anymore right?" Yui didn't understand but she nodded anyway, "then come with me. I will leave the manor with you..."

Yui eyes widened. She shook her head quickly, surprised at his words, "no! Subaru-kun, why would you leave the manor? I-it's your home! You just..."

"You don't understand!" he cut her in, she couldn't do anything when he pulled her into a tight hug.

Subaru closed his eyes. He was glad in their current position she couldn't see his face. He wouldn't want her to see her looking so desperate and blushing like this. He knew he surprised her by hugging her like this but it couldn't be helped. His body had reacted before he could stop it.

"Subaru-kun?"

She sounded worried now.

He cursed under his breath.

This was his chance.

Yui was about to say something when finally Subaru said something.

"Marry me."

The flow is so slow but slowly you will understand, and btw as much as I love Subaru, I love Ayato more.. Hehe.
