COURAGE
Summary: After having some well-deserved relaxation on a hospitable planet, the crew are stunned when a set of explosions traps the captain and commander on the planet in danger, unable to help them as they too are under attack. Will they be able to fight off the attack and save the Captain and Commander?
CHAPTER 4Tom and Tuvok were standing outside of engineering trying to negotiate with the armed men.
"Ensign Ryan, take a security team and head to the Jeffries tubes that lead to the back of engineering, when you see me enter engineering come out and stun the assailants"
"Yes sir" said the capable Ensign.
"How long do you think it will take for them to reach engineering"?
"Approx 7 minutes" Those 7 minutes were the longest of Tom's life, all he could think of was B'Elanna lying on the floor. Finally it seemed time and Tuvok rounded the corner of engineering. Tom walked slowly behind him, they both had their hands raised but their weapons were tucked behind them.
"We are hear to surrender, who are you"
"We are the Grantham's" Pulnit said with such pride.
"Centuries ago we once lived on that planet too, there was a huge war and we were exiled to live on a near by planet, now we feel that it is time to take back our planet, this vessel is the best opportunity yet to do that"
Tuvok could see the men emerging from the Jeffries tubes, they were so quiet and stealthy Tuvok, if he felt emotions, would have felt proud. Before they knew what was happening, they were attached from behind and stunned quickly and efficiently.
"Outstanding job Ensign Ryan"
The engineering crew surrounded the unconscious stunned men and carried them to the brig.
Tom ran to B'Elanna's side.
"What happened?" he said as Carey knelt down beside them.
"She tried to take out one of the attackers, the leader shot her in the shoulder and she lost her balance and fell over the balcony, she landed really hard" Tom looked up at the upper lever, it must be at least 15 feet above them.
"B'Elanna can you hear me" he said as he stroked her cheek. She was alive but in a serious condition. There was a large wound on the back of her head, which was where the blood was coming from, and her shoulder wound was serious too.
"We will need to get her and Seven to Sickbay"
"What happened to Seven" Carey asked.
"She was shot in the stomach, after we get them to sickbay I need you and Harry to work on getting the EMH back up as a priority" Tom said.
Whilst B'Elanna was taken to sickbay, Tuvok and Carey came to help Harry. Seven was very pale and trying hard to stay conscious.
"Carey, Tuvok, what happened"
"We subdued all the hostiles now we need to get seven to sickbay" Tuvok said as he helped lift her up.
"Tell B'Elanna that we need to get the EMH up first" Harry said as they walked quickly down he corridor.
"Harry, B'Elanna has been injured" Harry looked up at him worried.
"How bad"
"Seriously" Carey said. When Harry entered sickbay he saw what Carey had meant. Tom looked lost. They placed seven on a bed and Harry went to Tom's side.
"How is she"?
"She has a fractured skull and her brain is bleeding and swelling, her shoulder wound is serious and will need surgery, her arm is broken as is her ankle, she needs surgery and I, I'm just not qualified to help her Harry" Harry looked at his friends.
"We know that the EMH is damaged at the moment, but" he stopped and ran to a console. "The holodeck is still working"
"That's no use to us though if his programme is damaged"
"I wasn't thinking of him, we have tons of peoples profiles stored in their, different crews"
"Interesting idea Ensign who were you referring too" Tuvok asked intrigued by the idea.
"The only other doctor that I have heard of as the best, Dr Beverly Crusher from the Enterprise" Tuvok nodded.
"Could we activate her and transfer her programme here to the sickbay, would that work" Tom asked with a glimmer of hope in him.
"Its worth a shot" Harry said.
"Carey please run down to the holodeck and access the Enterprise file and activate Dr Crushers file and transfer her here"
"I'm on it" he said and ran off to the holodeck. After 8 minutes Dr Crusher materialised in the room.
"What's going on?" she asked looking around. It took Harry and Tom a few minutes to explain why she was here and why she wasn't on the Enterprise.
"We need your medical help, we have two casualties here" Tom went over the problems each woman had and Beverly went into action.
"Okay nurse get them prepared for surgery"
"We don't have a nurse" she looked at Tom
"Okay you've just been designated"
"Excellent work Ensign" Tuvok said
"Thank you Harry" Tom said and hugged his friend.
Carey returned to the room. Grateful that it had worked he smiled at Harry.
"We need to get our systems back online, our Captain and Chakotay are still trapped on the surface, Mr Kim please remain here and fix the EMH, Mr Carey please head to engineering and get the sensors and communications on line, Mr Kim after you have finished here, please work on the transporters, I will assign teams to help you whilst I deal with other areas"
Harry went inside the doctor's office and began to reconstruct his database. He could hear Dr Crusher in the other room working with Tom on B'Elanna. Seven had been sedated. He just hoped that she could get the surgeries done before any more systems went off line.
Carey had started the repairs on the sensors and communications, the comm.'s hadn't taken long and very quickly they were all in communication with each other again.
Unfortunately their attempts to reach the captain had been unsuccessful, they decided that their comm. badges might have been damaged.
Harry had been trying not to listen to the surgery and Tom's gasps as B'Elanna's heard rate fell and stopped and began again. Finally they had finished her surgery and were moving on to Seven. B'Elanna was going to need to be checked regularly as there were lots of complications that could happen. Seven thankfully was a relatively easy fix, remove the bullet and heal the wound.
Harry had just finished fixing the EMH's database. Computer activates the EMH.
"Please state the, Ensign Kim what happened"
"Short version, we were attacked and boarded, keys systems offline including yours, B'Elanna seriously hurt and Seven was shot, but we managed to get a temporary replacement" he said as the Doctor looked around his sickbay to see a woman healing Seven.
"And who might you be" The Doctor asked
"I'm Doctor Beverly Crusher and you are"
"I'm the doctor"
"Yes but what's your name"
"Just the doctor"
"Okay, here is the chart for the first lady B'Elanna is it"
As the Doctors discussed the patients Harry went to see Tom who was sitting by B'Elanna's side stroking her face.
The ship rocked again with what felt like phaser fire.
"Ensign Kim report to the bridge, we are under attack" Before he left sickbay Dr Crusher's programme disappeared. It was obvious to Harry that the holo decks were down too.
When Harry reached the bridge the view screen showed 9 little ships surrounding voyager.
