A/N: I've had this floating around my flashdrive since September, so, just, take it. The prompt was "Key" off one of my lists, and I really don't know how I wound up with this. Warning for some, it is short and it is modern, so. -shrugs a shoulder-

Richard hummed a tune as he walked into his buddy's apartment, but some interesting sounds made him stop in his tracks, listening.

"Give it to me!"

"What's that?" He could hear the smirk in Cara's voice.

"Damn you, give it to me already!"

Scuffling noises and grunts followed, along with some other questionable and distinctly feminine noises. Richard didn't recognize the demanding woman's voice and, really, he should just leave Cara to her obviously interesting company, but—

"Try harder, I'm getting bored."

"How about you stop holding me down?"

—hey, interesting company. So he did the only logical thing someone in his position could do. It was his duty as a friend. He put his earphones in, settling into pretending to listen to music, and strolled into the living room. And his eyes widened. A brunette and Cara were entangled on the floor, still oblivious to him.

"That's all you've got," Cara laughed, hooking a leg around the brunette's hip to keep her in place.

"Just give it to me," the brunette said again, straining against Cara's body.

The two rolled a little and cursed at each other, struggling for dominance—during which Richard was intensely glad and disappointed about only seeing small sections of his friend's back as her shirt shifted. The brunette straddled Cara and pinned one of her arms while reaching for something, but Richard didn't know what it was. He was too busy noticing the stranger had a great ass.

"How long have you been standing there?"

"Huh?" His eyes snapped to a glaring Cara, who scowled because the brunette snatched something out of her hand. She slapped Cara's hands away and held the thing up triumphantly. When he saw it, he wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. "You guys were doing all that for chocolate?"

The brunette shrugged innocently, complete with a stunning smile. "What can I say? I'm passionate about chocolate."

"But couldn't you just get more?"

"Maybe we wouldn't have to fight over it if some asshole didn't raid my stash this morning." She looked pointedly at Richard, who had the decency to look mildly apologetic. "Get out."

"Oh, don't be so grumpy," she said, attempting to feed Cara a piece of chocolate. "Seriously? You don't want any?"

Cara smirked. "Maybe I wasn't interested in the chocolate."

"Oh really? Well I'm passionate about other things, too."

The woman had practically purred. Richard jumped, startled by the chocolate suddenly striking him, abandoned by the brunette so she could lean down as Cara's hand travelled down her side. He swallowed heavily. Richard left without a word, soundly locking the door behind him and all but ran out the building, trying not to think about anything at all because if he did, it wouldn't leave his mind and that wasn't something he needed. Bro code, after all. Winded, he stopped, bracing his hands on his knees. He laughed raggedly, ignoring the way a couple of people looked at him.

No wonder Cara had been zoning out and bailing on him lately. He'd hide a woman like that, too. Now if only he could convince her to let him keep his key… Strictly for free chocolate, of course. Richard wondered if Cara had any chocolate syrup and promptly slapped himself.

A/N: I have some great things going on in regards to Cara and Kahlan. And I mean great. So, I'll actually see you guys soon, unlike when I say soon and then it's a few months later. And for those of you that read it, Gone Forever is getting updated soon.

Dear "guests," it'd be great if you guys left some form of name. Then I could reply to you here. -waves at everyone-
