A/N: Finally an update. It's a short one but there will be more soon!
Disclaimer: I own only Brenda.
After Gohan and Brenda had finished eating, the two decided to look for a safe place to sleep before it got too dark. As they wandered through the wilderness, the sun started to set, the sky turning varying shades of pink and orange as it began to dip below the horizon. Gohan bit his lip worriedly when he saw this. Time moved by more quickly than he assumed. He glanced over at Brenda, who was scouting out a cave that resided on one of the mountains. She stood there at the mouth of cave, her eyes shining bright pink and her hands raised slightly. After a while, she blinked and her normal green colored eyes shone brightly. She turned to Gohan and smiled.
"This one's good," she said with relief. "I was afraid we were going to disturb another nest of bats." She visibly shuddered when she said that, making Gohan smile a bit.
"Yeah, they scared me too," Gohan said sheepishly. The two of them then walked into the cave, Brenda giving them light with her mana. It was a fairly large cave, slightly cold but otherwise, perfect for them to sleep in that night. Gohan set his sword down on the ground and began to inspect the cave. There wasn't much to see, but Gohan did find some sticks to use for a fire. He showed them to Brenda with a smile.
"So we won't get too cold," he explained. Brenda grinned at him
"Good idea Gohan!" she said, sitting down cross-legged. "Put them in front of me and I'll get a fire going."
Gohan did what she asked and sat across from her, watching her curiously. Brenda arranged the sticks into a pile, stretched her hands towards it, closed her eyes, and began to recite the magic words that her Aunt had taught her.
"Laconem enflamare," she murmured, her hands glowing pink. A spark ignited in the pile of sticks and a second later a fire was flickering in front of them, giving them a light and some warmth.
"Do all Anodytes use magic words?" Gohan asked curiously. Brenda shrugged.
"My family does," she said, stretching out her legs. "My Auntie taught me the basics."
"I wish I could do that," Gohan said enviously, kicking back in a reclining position.
"Auntie said that anyone who has a magical aura can do that," Brenda answered, laying on her side now. "She learned when she was young. My daddy learned when he was a teenager. That's when he got his powers."
"Cool," Gohan said, laying down in way that made sure that he faced her. "Maybe...maybe we can practice fighting tomorrow, so that way we can learn more about each other's powers."
Brenda smiled sleepily and said, "Good idea Gohan. But for now, let's sleep. I'm really tired."
Gohan nodded and yawned. "Kay," he said as he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep. For once as he lay there with his new friend, he didn't miss his family that much.
